Any changes in social restrictions from Dec 1?
Liverpool Lou replied to SheungWan's topic in Bangkok
Condos are forcing people to be vaccinated to use facilities As a generalisation, that's false. Travel restrictions both into and out of Thailand How is travel out of Thailand restricted by Thai authorites? Closed entryways at all malls to force everyone through specific entries where they need to have temperature checked i.e. all malls are open again. Something wrong with temperature checks that not everyone has done "forcibly"? Temperature scans at businesses So what? How does that affect anyone? Restrictions on events and holidays What are the restrictions on holidays? Edit: Oops, he's gone already. Wonder why? -
Bangkok Bank card, cannot pay online
Liverpool Lou replied to Jorje's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes my account is in Europe but I live in Thailand and I got a card They're not available if the applicant is applying from/is located in Thailand, that's the bottom line. -
I see you've made it your lifes mission to make sure everyone knows you read something slightly differently to them ???? Don't "see your a_rse" just because I can read and comprehend English correctly. If there is anything in the Dec/Jan re-opening context that I have posted that is provably untrue, show me what it is.

Agree. That Lam Luka road is very dangerous, Heavy traffic many car and large trucks. Many intersections with traffic lights, large delays, center "u" turns. And yes many motor bikes in left lane. And MANY accidents. Take car on this road. My point was that the road is not "badly maintained", as he claimed.

Just tried that link. All it does is take me to my account Click on "order your card". But don't waste your time if you're in Thailand! -

You're right, BBL had, still has, a contract with Union Pay to distribute their cards but you're wrong to say that BBL "still carries on with these games". Mastercard debit cards have been available with BBL for years again since the UP issues. -

That first link and one individual person's issue do not indicate an across-the-board block for all merchants overseas. -
Bangkok Bank card, cannot pay online

That is not true for all merchants (for cards that have been activated for online use). -
Bangkok Bank card, cannot pay online

No, that is/was not the case for all merchants. There may have been a temporary suspension but that only applied to the accounts of those affected by the fraud. -

Activating a non-activated BBL debit card for online purchases can be done on the phone also. I've just re-done mine over the phone to try to alleviate the OP's problem that I get with some merchants here in Thailand. -
Bangkok Bank card, cannot pay online
Liverpool Lou replied to Jorje's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes, I have the same problem with my BBL debit card but when using it online with certain merchants, not all, inside Thailand. The bank has looked into it many times and suggests that the issue is with the merchant. This is likely to be correct as paying for deliveries from the same merchant (eg. Tops) with the same card but using the delivery driver's card machine always works. -
You seem to be assuming that the, clearly, unloaded truck involved in this accident was "being poorly driven, was badly serviced, was overloaded" and that "Lam Lu Ka Road is poorly maintained". What do you base all that on? Is it not possible that this long vehicle was making a normal left turn into a small side road and the overloaded, poorly driven motorbike tried to drive up the inside of the left-turning truck?

Exactly. I even think they said they would consider the possibility of reopening the bars. He's actually kept to his word this time... He promised to consider by Dec 1. Here we are on Nov 12th and it's already been considered. The conclusion sucks, but there you go... Thanks for that! It's a pity that I'm getting so much flack for being able to read what was actually said and made available in the media.

You really are picking holes and maybe avoiding some phrases in order to make your point more valid. " may be allowed to reopen from January 16th, on the condition that.. " We were never promised Dec 1st, but it was spoken by His Lordship. Jan 16th looks no different to me than Dec 1st. But Liverpool Lau(d mouth) is getting plenty of posts out there to prove us all wrong. "We were never promised Dec 1st, but it was spoken by His Lordship". You're right, there was never any promise that bars etc. would be allowed to re-open on 1st December. Prayut did not say that bars would be allowed to re-open on 1st December, if he did post the link here. Thanks for confirming my point that has proved you wrong but it's a shame that you had to revert to an insult. Edit: You may laugh but...

In today's BP the spokesman for the CCSA said the PLAN for reopening on 1st December had been deferred. Yes, we all know that; there was a plan, as was there a consideration but no decision had been made. No announcement has ever been made that specifically confirmed that bars etc. would be allowed to re-open on 1st December.

Is it better to use dealership finance or a bank loan?
Liverpool Lou replied to Mash42's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Bangkok Bank will lend to qualifying foreign applicants Kasikorn Bank will lend to qualifying foreign applicants. Krungsri Bank will lend to qualifying foreign applicants. UOB will lend to qualifying foreign applicants. -
That's what you're saying without the quote's details! Where was that quote lifted from? By the way, restaurants were allowed to sell alcohol from 1st November. Even so, that "quote" of yours does not say that bars etc. will be allowed to re-open on 1st December which is what my comments are relating to!

The largest operator of bars/clubs in Thailand expressed surprise and disappointment at the announcement yesterday. It was their understanding that venue reopening was imminent and that was based on advice from government. So that was (proabably) the Nana Group's "understanding", based on no official announcement that would have been available to visitors making holiday bookings. How could that have any relevance to visitors' (who did not have that information) decisions to come here?
