The short answer was that Lehman was illiquid and lacked sufficient collateral to borrow enough from the Fed or to renew the repurchase agreement contracts (repos) to avert collapse. (when GW Bush was still President and before 2008 election) -

From a link above: He sought medical help and tests were conducted to determine the nature of his sickness. Tests have ruled out the less severe variant of the disease 'Clade 2', leaving a potential diagnosis of 'Clade 1B', based on some unclear results. From today's NYTimes: Clade I is further differentiated by how it is transmitted, and who is most vulnerable. Clade Ia, epidemiologists have said, is spread through household contact and exposure to affected animals, in addition to sexual contact. So far, it is young children who are most vulnerable to this subtype. Clade Ib appears to spread mainly through heterosexual sex. -

And as on here there are frequent topics related to wills in Thailand, some would say the 'long term' is how long the much younger Thai wife has to wait for the much older farang hubby to expire. -

Willie Brown threatens to sue Trump over helicopter ride story August 16, 2024 / 9:42 PM EDT / CBS News Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown warned he may consider legal action against former President Donald Trump over a story he recently told about almost crashing in a helicopter with Brown. In an interview this week with CBS News, Brown said that he has never been in a helicopter with Trump and threatened to sue the former President because "somebody has got to make sure that he stops lying." From Billy Wilder's One, Two, Three in 1960's Berlin: Peripetchikoff (the Russian soft-drink commissar): But if I defect, you know what they will do to my family? They will line them up against the wall and shoot them! My wife, and my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law, and my brother-in-law. [pauses] Peripetchikoff : Comrades, let's do it!

While some of De Niro's May 28 remarks were maybe over-the-top as a former New Yorker myself during the time this rings true: In his most biting comments, De Niro spoke of Trump through the lens of the largely Democratic city whose voters know Trump well and roundly rejected him at the polls. "We New Yorkers used to tolerate him when he was just another grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot, a two-bit playboy lying his way into the tabloids," he said. "A clown...No one took him seriously. They take him seriously now." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/robert-de-niro-calls-trump-clown-outside-trial-biden-campaign-message-2024-05-28/

True. But to add per Florida expat voter registration, they ask what are your intentions on relocating to Florida? and then they ask for a daytime telephone number in case they have any additional questions -- like what? And I note your topic here which is why I won't be registering absentee: Posted March 23 (edited) This topic inspired by yet another issue with a U.S. financial institution caused by living abroad.

The NY Times as above said Harris Puts Four Sun Belt States Back in Play. Florida isn't one of them. And most all those contacted by the various polls know abortion is on the ballot. As to being against expats voting, I am not against it. I just found that the questions were too intrusive in that voter registration is public record.

He's not even American. Florida might matter. Check the news. Headline in NY Times this morning: Harris Puts Four Sun Belt States Back in Play, Times/Siena Polls Find Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are in close races across Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina, crucial swing states that Mr. Trump had seemed en route to run away with just a few weeks ago. -- but not Florida.
