  1. Dear Folks, AI is not about to go away, anytime soon. Therefore, what advice do you give your children, or grandchildren, or perhaps children who are students, about this new AI World, and how to succeed? Here, for example are just a few thoughts from Sammy and Jensen: (Impossible to link this without a huge graphic, so pls just google the reference, which is easy to do, if you wish to do.) Are they on target? Or, do you think they are hallucinating? And, really, what do you feel is the best approach to advising your children, children's children, or students, concerning the rapid changes happening now? Best regards, Gamma
  2. Dear Folks, Education is changing. Should you now stop almost everything you thought was important and shift to learning how to master the use of AI. And, should your children follow this advice? And are schools today preparing young students to use AI as fully and competently as possible? Or, is present-day education now focused on teaching what will soon be irrelevant for success in the world in which we now live? What can be done to catch up, for those that have now almost missed the boat? Will coding, for example, be almost completely irrelevant within less than a decade? ‘It’s not AI that will take your job - it’s someone who uses AI that will.’ Is this guy, Jensen, the man from Taiwan, correct? So then, what are YOU, and YOUR KIDS doing to close the gap between what you don't know about AI, about AI Tools, and what you SHOULD KNOW, by now, and in the near future? Or, aren't you afraid that somebody else, who knows how to use AI, might steal your cheese, or your child's cheese? No worries. I am taking a crash course. Hope you here on TV will follow suit, and follow my lead. Best regards, And wishing you all well...in our Brave New AI World, Gamma
  3. As for me: Gulf of Mexico will always be Gulf of Mexico. Naples Florida will always be Naples Florida. Naples Italy will be Italy. Naples Italy will never be Naples America. AN, for me, will always be ThaiVisa, or TV. Hard for this old dog to accept new tricks. AP will never be UPI.
  4. 20 years seems a very long time. Seems to me that the doubling-time of improvements in this field is only about FIVE MONTHS. So, please feel free to do the math using this as a doubling time. Guess we are talking about EXPONENTIAL growth here. Think less than FIVE YEARS, if this is true.
  5. Dear Folks, Have you begun using AI to help you find dates on Dating Sites? What has been the result? How much would you pay for a non-free version of a popular AI which could guarantee to double your dating average, for time spent? What about if an AI could guarantee you two dates per night, all virgins? How much would you pay for an AI like that??? Or, are you just too old, these days, to care? Best regards, Gamma
  6. And now.... One wonders how this Topic ended up in the IT forum. This is so obviously NOT about Information Technology. Neither is it about Computers, per se. This Topic is about Social Change, and much more. It is about economics, and a shrinking workforce. If one were to ask how to install a LLM on a home PC, then it would be suited to the IT and Computers forum...yet.... This Topic is NOT about that. Perhaps, it would be nice for some if there was an AI Forum? But, until then, where does one put Topics like this, that discuss the ... ETHICAL IMPLICATIONS of AI? And, the rapid-rate of increase of improvements of models? In the IT section? Probably not. The IT section rarely discusses social and ethical implications of important new advances in technology. The only place I know that might be appropriate for a Topic of this kind is in the General Topics or the Pub sections. Certainly not in the Farming Section, probably.
  7. Pornographers have always been the group that have pushed the frontiers on the internet, and are responsible for the fast pace of development in just so many cases.
  8. Forgot to add a link to SimpleBench.... https://simple-bench.com/
  9. A charmed life he lead/leads. If this had been I, there is no telling what might have happened, including dire consequences. Just a matter of luck.
  10. Dear Folks, I am not worried about AI. What... Me worry? But I am old, and some of you are young, or know people who are young. Also, has AI now just about totaled the Internet with machine-produced content? And, exactly how much of the Internet we can access on search engines, like Google, is produced not by humans but by machines? Well, let's see: a. What is the near-term future of AI? b. Is AI progress, improvements in models, etc., slowing down or speeding up? Here is a nice little vid which speaks to these very questions. Yes. Nice vid, for sure. I know that most of you will like it. Also, by this time next year, a much higher percentage of what we see on the internet will be machine-made. Hope you are OK with that. Best regards, Gamma
  11. How much will the fine be? Or, does he just pay the usual maximum, which is quite low.
  12. Seems to me that Big-Time changes are in the air. Good! Hope they are forced to view Reefer Madness, while in detention.
  13. You mean like corporations which relocate to avoid paying taxes?
  14. If the world wishes peace in the area, then the sensible solution is to relocate the people living in "Israel" on a voluntary basis to places like the USA. Let's do for the people living in Israel what Trump is offering the people of Gaza. Trump is off his rocker if he thinks relocating the people of Gaza makes sense.
  15. I would not wish to live in any place where voters voted for Harris. I think they should terminate the lot of them....unless....they can prove that they are smart and that they work hard for the money they are paid. Harris is someone who has proved to be a role model for wasting money and time. She takes too much time to utter anything of meaning. Would have been a true tragedy if Harris...because....just think of the upward spiral of debt...continuing. What a nitwit.
  16. By GEEK, I did not mean Elon. I was not referring to Musk. I was pointing out that the guy doing the analysis in the video is the Geek. He usually is correct. But this time, maybe not.
  17. Although no employee ever enjoys this kind of thing...It does make perfect sense. Everyone must justify the value of work or the value of research. This is why research proposals must be submitted and approved. At first, it seemed quite odd, Elon's request I mean. However, it is not so odd when looking at the marketplace. Apparently, the request was a very easy one, and not time-consuming. So then, why the uproar? And why the refusal to comply with the request?
  18. But, is the GEEK wrong this time? Does Musk lack empathy? And, is the request for supporting evidence for work done ill-planned, even foolish? The Geek says Elon is wrong. Yet, commentors disagree...
  19. That would be amazing. But is this even legally possible, or physically practicable, with so many individuals in question? Certainly there must be better ways of verifying what they were doing. And, is there actually as much fraud as some seem to suspect? Maybe yes, and perhaps not quite.
  20. Nothing to do with inner monologue, of course. Still, nice of you to add your inner child here.
  21. You want to rehash this old stuff for how many more years?
  22. I think you got it ass-backwards. The point is, it is GAME ON to try to observe the steps taken by an AI to cough up whatever it is that it coughs up. Therefore, one can ask the AI to list these steps, as can easily be done with DeepSeek, for example. But this is different from training the AI to "think before responding", from the beginning. I am sure that you understand the distinction: One is not teaching it to think before responding. Instead, one is asking for the steps taken to reach any given output. And, if you call this "reasoning", then...OK. But, you got it ass-backwards, anyway.
