  1. One cannot be BOTH nice AND a good president. This was his undoing....the fact that.... Jimmy, in his ignorance of the Real World, was unable to comprehend this simple truth.
  2. Dear Folks, Just wondering if white women become illogically overly-smitten after being mesmerized by the average seemingly-virile Mexican male. The reason I ask this question is because I have checked out the stats on divorce rates, as you can see here: Anecdotally, as has been sometimes reported in the news, and is most-likely due to some cultural divide, .... Pairings between these two groups often ends badly. BUT....WHY is this? No, of course, this circumstance cannot be due to skin color. There must be some other reason, and it must be CULTURAL, through and through. So then, what do you imagine might be the cultural differences that cause: a. Sudden and immediate attraction between Mexican males and white women b. Higher divorce rates between Mexican males and white women, compared to American males and American white women? Is it this MACHISMO that many Mexican males seem to have, and which most white women love.....INITIALLY....but.... NOT for long, after the ring goes on? I need to know. I am confused. This topic is dear to my heart. Best regards, Gamma Note: If you really want to know, my belief is that like cultures should stick with like cultures... Note2. I identify with the Chinese culture, completely. Note3. I am not from Mexico.....And....better believe it, Baby! Note4. Is it possible to take the Mexican out of Mexico, but not take the Mexican culture out of the Mexican? I think....yes. Not unless you wait about 300 years. What do you think?
  3. Just joking with you, JT. In fact, back in the day, while in HS..... We all joked about sending him a dollar to buy his bats. Or, did you REALLY think I was a redneck? 5555 Thank again.
  4. Right, again! Only people are black and white. This is the main crux of the race issue.
  5. a. Without us laymen pointing the finger, sometimes....things don't get done. b. Thank you for correcting my spelling error. A berm is NOT a burm.
  6. ABSOLUTELY....!!!! This was a disastrous oversight on the part of the airport designers. In addition, just from Google Street View, one can easily view the conditions past the runway, and it's ALL flat land. There was no need for this to happen, if only someone had thought....ahead. And, as you say, one must wait for the published report in several months' time. Many Years ago, when AV&ST was slightly different in format, and was a lot drier, featuring detailed accident reports, I subscribed to this excellent publication, and enjoyed it very much..like DECADES ago. The full report will be forthcoming. One must wait until then before drawing any firm conclusions. Still....that BURM at the end of the runway was a DEAD-giveaway of one of the factors that might have led to higher death toll....just my view.
  7. Not in this case. The engine nacelles on the newer 737s are very low. And seem to touch the runway before the fuselage. This causes the aircraft to ride on the engines, and not the entire surface area of the fuselage. Therefore, much less frictional drag is encountered.
  8. The redneck vote? Do you recall George Wallace and his baseball bats? I seem to recall that I sent a dollar to George Wallace, following up on his offer to send baseball bats to supporters, for a dollar. As you can see, both Carter and Wallace were "First Gentlemen" of the deep south. Wallace turned out to be far less radical than he appeared to be, at first. I miss those good ole days, with Jim Crow. Almost NOBODY was PC, back then. Great times!!!!
  9. Thusly spoke my main-Man, Zarathustra.
  10. Why is it that it's usually our fearless leaders who so often talk about this "Trap of 'Welfarism'"?
  11. Clearly, from this cogent testimony; the Japanese many decided to attack first. Perhaps, he had just been waiting for some good opportunity to try out his newly-mastered KickBoxing skills he had picked up in Thailand. Unfortunately, his First Flying Kick did not do the job, and as a result, the Japanese man was soon undone by his thoughtless intervention and lack of sufficient kick-boxing practice. Here is a better testimony than has hitherto been added to this thread. Now, all is clear as mud. Except, we know that there is a video of this incident which may not yet have been released to us here. https://siamrath.co.th/n/590787
  12. PEAK Oil is coming....someday.... Or, actually, Peak Oil has already happened, even though you might not have realized it.
  13. When I first traveled to Taiwan in 1979, and during my first few years there, everybody was talking about peanuts.
  14. I would think this technology might have been very useful at Muan airport:
  15. So then: Why would they construct this very thick earthen barricade so close to the end of the runway (tarmac)? If the aircraft had not hit this barrier, then there was plenty of flat ground ahead. The block wall, behind the earthen barricade might have much more easily given way without breaking up the aircraft. However, clearly, any aircraft hitting the earthen barricade would be stopped dead....which is exactly what seems to have happened here. What is the justification for such a barricade? Is there any? NOTE: For that matter, what is the justification for having the block-wall so close to the runway, or at all. Wouldn't a mesh fence make more sense? Is what we see a good design?
  16. Reuters seems to have the best full video of the emergency landing of this flight, clearly showing impact with barrier: https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/plane-drives-off-runway-crashes-airport-south-korea-yonhap-reports-2024-12-29/ The seating capacity for this aircraft can vary depending on the configuration... https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Jeju_Air/Jeju_Air_Boeing_737-800.php
  17. It really does not matter what you call it. The plane hit a concrete structure and then broke up. The question is: Is this the fault of improper runway design?
  18. Obviously the bird strike, presumably seen here... Caused the aircraft malfunction. However, the logical question might be: a. Is there actually a concrete wall at the end of the runway? b. Why would there be a concrete wall at the end of the runway? c. Was it the barrier at the end of the runway which was principally the most significant factor for loss of life? Looks like the tail section remained fairly intact. ==== Is there a history of similar though less catastrophic events while landing on this runway? ==== The causes (probably multiple) of this crash will require many months before a full report is published.
  19. Great Topic! Certainly this is a condition with which I can easily identify. Here are some potential causes.... So what I do...in most cases, when I get these hunger pangs/pains at 4AM...is.... I eat rice gruel made of .... Congee Rice Tidbits of egg omelette Tuna chunks Just prepare it in advance, and then when you feel the need, some time in the night or early morning hours, ... Just pop the prepared bowl of zhou into the microwave. Slurp it down. Then sleep for another few hours. You might try this if you have this problem. Also, rice congee and rice ZHOU are not the same. Zhou is the Chinese name for the Thai/Chinese dish that looks like this.... rice gruel is xifan rice gruel with pork, shrimp, or egg-omelette tidbits mixed in is called Zhou. This is great stuff late at night. I have no access to shrimp, however, or I would prefer a bowl, as pictured above, in almost all cases.
  20. No, this is/was not my meaning. I was merely pointing out to one commenter here, in particular, that he agrees with me that the Natural Sciences, according to his view and my view, are most important. And, in this we share zero disagreement. He and I can easily agree to not disagree in our views about the Natural Sciences. Do you agree that my original statement, as posted, was correct? Or, do you disagree???
  21. Still, the way Trump is dressed, he reminds me of Father Christmas, so bright is he lit up, almost like a Christmas tree. Almost blindingly bright. And, to quote an old tune.... BLINDED BY THE LIGHT.....
  22. No. My statement, as originally posted, stated my meaning. Meaning is important these days. I meant what I said, and I said what I meant, in this case.
  23. I like the idea of Chicken Soup! Also, you got your Duck Soup, a soup that the Marx Brothers made famous.
  24. I think Musk may be too busy, these days, to hang with prostitutes.
