exactly my thoughts, more responsible reporting would address what could/should be done to resolve the main problem here.

true enough. i live in an area of bangkok where restaurants don't stoop to such practices, the menu price is the price, want to tip? up to you. a, foreign owned, restaurant opened a couple of years ago, when the bill came they had added the ++ amount, i told them they were being misleading, that i would pay the difference but would never use their restaurant again - i enjoyed giving lots of business to the restaurant opposite. i suspect i wasn't the only one as they went out of business around six months later.

possibly you are not a driver, or may be not a very good driver. driving appropriate to the conditions is a basic driving skill. if a driver is unable to control their vehicle it is likely they are not driving appropriate to the conditions.

you'll get a police check no problem. if you have a conviction it should be on the police check report, that's why they exist. will it prevent you getting a job? depends on your potential employer.

it's equivalent to a couple of cups of coffee, no right minded tourist is going to refuse to visit thailand for such a small amount. many countries levy entrance/exit tax on tourists, it's really no big deal. but if you feel strongly then go visit a country that doesn't tax tourists.
