  1. is this a joke? from what i see most foreign men marry thai women from the lower, uneducated class, and within this many are from a sex industry background. so, no, most thais coundn't care less. remember, thailand has a population similar to the uk, the number of thai women marrying foreigners as a percentage is insignificant. most thai men or women, frankly, have more important things to worry about. do you think about, or care about, women in your home country who marry foreigners?
  2. currently selling a property back home, asking price 550K GBP, estate agent wanted 1.25% fees, got her down to 1%
  3. i've lived and worked in many countries, as well as amazing experiences there are cultural challenges everywhere, if you want everything to work as it does back home, then stay back home. don;t try to compare other countries to your country, understand and accept the differences, manage your expectations, chill out, enjoy the differences, enjoy life.
  4. absolutely, as happened in the uk recently, suddenly anyone without cash was unable to purchase anyhting in certain retail outlets. cash will always have a place in an economy
  5. according to my thai friends with children, it's the practice in bangkok too... not every school, but certainly happens.
  6. that's the ex-pat/traveler life sometimes, i got the real run around applying for a visa to iran in the 1990s, worth the effort though, a great place to visit. and getting a work visa in china was very complex until a rich friend of a friend greased the appropriate wheels.
  7. don't know if this is relevant in this situation but i live in bangkok and often see riders of large motorcycles driving way too fast for the road conditions and often think; should something unexpected happen there is no way you can react in time.
  8. veiled xenophobic/racist comment, is this acceptable under forum rules?
  9. depends, if you mean english language skills and work ethic then the philipines is way ahead
  10. i only date educated, professional women, usually they have their own apartments/houses and car or cars. i've dated many businesswomen who travel first class when flying, one hospital director, even one who had several cars but couldn't drive so employed a full time driver. imho foreigners who date lower class, lower educated women and/or sex workers are missing a side of thailand that is awesomely amazing. but, everyone to their own.
  11. after visiting my sister who emigrated to australia, and my mate in the west indies i have been underwhelmed by thailand, and many other country's beaches.
  12. the devil is in the detail. unfortunately, these days you have to concentrate and check, and check again, all details when booking long haul flights. the smoke and mirrors marketing and pricing of the short haul market has infected the long haul market.
  13. so... if all the products on the shelf have been sold they should not re-stock the shelves until the shop is closed? that's common sense? it's certainly an ineffective business model. and if products aren't available on the shelf you wouldn't complain, you'd be happy to wait until the next day to buy those products?! really?!
  14. assume thais who have recently traveled abroad will also be required to comply, and that the authorities have a system in place to identify those citizens who should be complying.
  15. In other countries they have staff to resupply when the shop is closed. not true, in the uk supermarket shelves are re-stocked during shop open hours try not to see criticism through the lens that if something is not right it must be because it's thai/thailand.
  16. If Thai was the international business language, I would speak it fluently. if only everyone was as perfect as you.
  17. very sad. but not a thailand problem, many countries have issues with the extreme behaviour of adolescents
  18. couldn't care less, never needed to pay someone to spend time with me, neither have any of my mates. and i've had an awful lot of fun. a fool and his money are soon parted always has been, and i guess always will be, true.
  19. depends where you are, in bangkok three days, but quiet start and finish usually. never been to pattaya but hear it's longer there. but i don't care because i'll be in another country 😁
  20. sorry, but you are wrong to suggest this is a thai trait, back home the council in a small town near me decided to cut down around 30 mature deciduous trees for apparently no reason, they did it overnight which was particularly sly. and once they're gone that's it...
  21. book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  22. i'd say speeding is a problem because you have less time to react there are bad drivers everywhere, and thailand seems to have more that its fair share, but nothing like the insanity i've seen in lebanon and india. so be thankful for that, and be careful out there.
