  1. not just thais, facebook is used for commercial purposes in many countries, personally i wouldn't.
  2. true, but the uk accepts the problem and tries to do something about it. unlike america and guns...
  3. i was so outraged that i stopped to film the incident and, did i go straight to report to the police? no, of course not, i was so outraged i put it on the internet. disgusted of tunbridge wells.
  4. happens the world over, people get into debt and banks, charities and occasionally governments are prepared to offer support and help. but first, people have to help themselves.
  5. nonsense. meanwhile, in the real world, most of my thai friends have graduated from universities abroad studying to bachelor or masters degree, in their second language - could you do that? didn't think so. they have professional jobs equal to any in the west. you can find the uneducated and ill informed in any country. before you make generalised negative comments about thais i suggest you get out of the bar and meet and get to know some thai people, they are educated, well traveled, very capable people
  6. in the uk, in and out in a few hours, i've taken quite a few oldies for this op in the past because they can't drive after the procedure.
  7. and i'm pretty sure those that enjoy hanging out there will not be going to the places that you hang out. horses for courses, live and let live, don;t moan so much just get on with life and be happy.
  8. don't know why you're using the thai adjective, people are gullible the world over, that's why scammers are so successful.
  9. as bob dylan said, patriotism is the last refuge to which a scoundrel clings. when things are not going well for a government, the economy for example, xenophobia and whipping up the right wing, is pretty much guaranteed to stir up the masses and divert attention from, for example, the economy.
  10. chip, shoulder and an inability to communicate effectively, which may be the cause of chip, shoulder...
  11. my uk credit card was cloned and used in the uk while i was in thailand. i only every use it for buying flights, so how it was cloned is interesting. apparently, the fraudulent sales were confirmed via my mobile app, but not the one on my phone! the purchases were small and for deliveroo, a uk food delivery company. HSBC were excellent in dealing with the situation, responding promptly and effectively. they canceled my card, issued a new one and i received full refund.
  12. no fool like an old fool, and he doesn't even have the excuse of being old. next.
  13. logic would suggest; decide what number is acceptable, control numbers with sterilisation and transfer excess animals to another suitable location. surely, it can;t be too difficult.
  14. clearly both show shocking driving/riding and road awareness skills. riding a big bike without a helmet anywhere is a bad idea, in thailand it displays particular stupidity. wearing headphones while riding a bike? plus the biker needs needs to take an anger awareness/management course. ultimately both at fault. and if the car driver's a doctor then the aussie is in real trouble.
  15. two similar looking bald, overweight men on flight to thailand, who'd have thunk it?
  16. i'd like to know where they get their statistics from, while one is too many, seven sounds like an awfully low number for a population of around 70 million.
  17. been using it since it opened and can honestly say i've never had any issues or problems with the airport itself of immigration. it's not the best airport, it's not the worst, it's busy sometimes but then aren't all major airports busy sometimes? i know it's subjective, but it doesn't have the most aesthetically pleasing or comfortable interior design, but it is basically fit for purpose.
  18. is this legal? should such activities be condoned and promoted on this forum?
  19. oh the irony, the over reaction to a fairly minor, if unpleasant and unnecessary incident, resulting in nationwide criticism of the behavior of tourists (foreigners) unearths (brings to light once again) the far more damaging specter of the endemic culture of corruption within thai society. and while i absolutely do not condone the swiss man's behaviour, i would suggest thais get a bit more vocal and proactive about tackling corruption.
  20. no one's pointing, so i'm not sure they've got the right man...
  21. yes this happens, happened to my uncle in new york, and to a friend's daughter in the uk, unfortunately you need to be careful wherever you are. while this story seems made up it does contain an important message
  22. my cousin that worked for BA security grabbed them and gave me a telling off. did you need telling off? it's kind of obvious! 🙄
