I've been living in Chanthaburi these last three years. This month I've had to make several trips to Pattaya for a root canal/crown replacement as my favorite dentist practices there. I don't know if it's me or if Pattaya just seems worse than I could ever imagine it. Horrendous traffic, rude foreigners, just a general feeling of malaise in the air. I used to think once I finished this teaching gig and finally retired, I would move back to Pattaya/Jomtien. Now, I'm not so sure.

My idiot son, living in Washington State, was sending money to a bar girl in Pattaya who he had never even met IRL. He is correct in what he says, basically if immigrants break the law then they can be deported. What has made this a hot issue is ICE has arrested an immigrant for protesting on a college campus. No charges have been filed, be broke NO laws, but because he was pro-Palestinian in his protest sentiment, he was arrested. This is how it starts.
