I believe they have improved the wallet. I had the same problem, couldn't sign up for it and refunds were impossible. Now, I CAN get them to the wallet. What I have found to be the best option is to use a credit card that carries no foreign transaction fee. EVERY refund is returned quickly. I also believe Lazada and its vendors don't want to get into battles with credit card companies so you are doubly protected.

As a teacher, I go through about three reams of paper per week and print double-sided. I use a Brother DCP-T520W with toner reservoirs and have been very happy with it. The color prints I use very sparingly as they print really slowly. Toner is always available on Lazada. The only problem is about a 3% roller failure where it pulls in more than one page for print so I have to check each time to make sure I don't have any blanks. Other than that, it's been a tried and true little work horse.

I'm a fan of Jomtien, having lived there on and off (mostly on) for the last ten years. I took a job in Chanthaburi 18 months ago, and have been keeping an eye on Jomtien rents as I plan on moving back when I'm done here. I have been floored with the way rent ads have skyrocketed, nearly doubling since I left. I wonder if that's just wishful thinking on the part of the owners or if that really is what the market will bear now.

They absolutely MUST keep this issue alive and well and living in the US gubmint. It is a passionate distraction from other issues they'd rather the US folks don't think about.

BTW, TEFL certificates are not a requirement for employment as a teacher in Thailand, so there is no requirement for them to be certified. Minimum of a legitimate Bachelors and transcripts that DO need some sort of certification/verification IS required to get a work permit. But, op, I have a sneaking suspicion you were already aware of this.

In a word, yes. The days of backpackers coming in for a temporary teaching gig using a fake degree are over.
