Don’t kill the golden goose! Tax reforms may drive away expats
NedR69 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As for your golden goose or missing me questions, NO and WFC's. I listed my top reasons and this proposed BS headache is the final straw. But regarding finances, take this simple example. 850k in Thai bank vs same amount in a CD only earning 4 % for the previous 24 months in my country. I'd have about 70k THB more today. I'm sure Thailand for some, is overwhelming a better option than the chyte hole where they are from...but not for me. My top 3 reasons is clean air, water and safety, with a slew of other crap to deal with here. The proposed tax, would unlikely impact me, and if it did likely only a small amount. And that is a good enough reason with all the other crap in this country. -

Less than a month and I'm out. F this crap and all the snowflakes. If you leave too, start thinking now how to move your money OUT of a Thai bank. Wise doesn't do that. Dee money sucks, and many are still waiting for their transfer to process several weeks after initiating the transfer. WU fee is ok, but their rate sucks. Swift transfer may be the best option. Plan now, if you have 800k or more to move out. It's not just the new tax law, but it will be the last nail in the coffin and I'm not waiting around to find out. Even if it doesn't go thru, I've had it here to the point of deciding to go. Insanity...doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I see better options that have clean air, safer to drive/travel/live, and equally affordable. Less than a month, and counting! -
Are you looking to get high/stoned, or you want a high CBD with minimal THC? If you only want CBD weed, I doubt you'll find it in Thailand and I never saw it. However, you can decarb weed, specifically to result in CBD, and mostly eliminated THC. But the end product is not for smoking. The result is ready for ingestion, grind it up and sprinkle on food, or infuse it with coconut oil - but only cold pressed organic virgin coconut oil. Big C has this type of coconut oil. Or, you could infuse it with butter. To do this without the correct equipment, would be very difficult because of the precise temperature required to decarb for CBD or THC. Ardent makes a device (available in 110v or 220v. Set you back about $300, maybe a lil more as I have not bought one in a couple of years. Easy, very easy. Put your weed in, select decarb THC or CBD and wait until it finishes, about 2 hours later. Next, is the infusion, same process for either THC or CBD. I doubt anyone using any method at home (oven, etc) will ever get any good results. No waste, the decarb process results in upper high 98% efficiency. There's other devices similar to Ardent, but my experience is only with Ardent model FX. DECARBOXYLATION Check this out on the Ardent site: ardentcannabis . com

Confusing to read and understand. Easier to say dude on motorbike sped thru red light and crashed into a taxi. Also, "bumped" into a taxi ain't gonna make much damage. Bumping into something implies slower motion. Maybe it was just lost in translation. -

A lot of them cheap charlies, flying on a crappy carrier with the best fares...you get what you pay for. And, WTF is a curfew for the aircraft maintenance personnel? Not in the budget to pay OT, or more than one shift? -
A better question is for all the 'mates' from UK or Oz - ask them anything about Trump. I cannot name a single leader of another country, must less know as much about that leader as non-US citizens here in LOS. seem to think they know about Trump. So bitter and angry...but I always believe it's really envy and jealousy.
-
No, but when Trump finishes the wall on the souther border they should name the wall after J. B. The irony...

There's bad apples in all walks of life. Some do a better job than others, some are corrupt. Here, I think the same about RTP. But aside from the corruption, there is zero police presence on the highways. All those grown humans driving like a fu kin idiot have no concern because there are no cops out patrolling the roads, and except for the Highway police that don't seem to do anything except escort Chinese tour busses, the rest aren't gonna pursue any motorist with a tiny scooter bike. I don't go in the city centers, the 'gut' in some places, but all I ever see is them showing up after something happens. Oh...I gotta mention about the police checks. I guess that's valuable in some sense, but there isn't any deterrence.

And if they had a safety rating....at the very bottom would be motorbike taxi and ferry boats. And, wearing a helmet or a personal flotation device would not change the safety rating / danger risk! -
Work outside the house?? No. And she will never need to work, nor will I. But she busts her arse at the house, vacuuming, cleaning, laundry, and helping me with meal prep. My only gripe is the cordless vac battery lasts too long, yea, too long. But glad I didn't get her an electric corded vac. Her fav hobby is gardening, and she works hard doing that too.

Twice in the last 12 months one of my Credit cards had attempted fraudulent activity. The first was a Chase Sapphire card, used at a pet store in Khon Kaen. SMS from Chase Bank, Y or N - this was a N for no I do not recognize the charge. <72 hours a new one was delivered to my house in Chonburi Province. Second card had same scenario, but from Shopee. I know it was Shopee because it was the first time I'd try to use that card in over two years. This bank sent replacement and about ~14 days later, a new one arrives. Both cards were issued from US Banks. I never worry much about potential fraud except for the inconvenience of having to change the auto-pay info when the new credit card is received. Debit / ATM cards?? I have two separate US banks with accounts for the debit cards. They are for emergencies and I only use the ATMs inside a BK bank to make a cash withdrawal...and only for emergencies. I never use my Debit / ATM for purchase, only for cash withdrawals at a bank's ATM. My BK bank atm card, yea I use that for QR scan, pay at Makro, etc and getting cash at the bank. No idea how fraud would work with it, but my losses would be minimized by keeping a low THB balance. When I go out, I never take all the cards with me unless I'm leaving the country. And when I do have them all with me, the bag/purse/bill-fold each have a separate card. If one purse/wallet is lost or stolen, I have at least one back-up location with a CC and a Debit card.
