Is Vietnam going to be next retirement
KhunLA replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think Nam is for those, with no real plan of setting down long term roots, since no real guarantee of retirement visa available. Simply the extended holiday in retirement mentality, till bored, instead of 'this is where I'll be till I crap out' mentality. Guess a lot depends on age. If retiring at 45 vs 65. Why settle in for the long haul, if on borrowed time. ROCK ON -

So you want everyone to pay more taxes (carbon bla bla bla) to solve the problem, but not willing to spend your money on the problem, or make scarifies for what you believe, for future generations. Don't need a car, could just get an E-MC. You're in NZ ? Thought you were in UK. Me, I just have solar & EV to save money, and to be independent & spiteful of big oil & PEA. Steady current at the house saves my electronics also, hopefully. -
If I was going anywhere for an international holiday, it would probably be Russia and or Switzerland. I stopped listening to US propaganda in my teens. Can't believe people are still that stupid. If not for the air pollution, might add China.

Seals better specs, and ~300k in change, to help pay for your solar system If Toyota dealer get to choose if they want to stock them, then good choice not to. Minimal research should tell you to shop elsewhere. I find that typical with most Toyota products. Their name isn't what it use to be. Their Corolla Cross starts at 1M. A few BEV SUV out there at that price or less

Unprecedented: Oceans' Record Heat Streak Surges to 13 Months

That's not climate CC, that historical & damn near predictable weather. Insurance companies, once, then think about moving. Or you could have planned and built it better the first time. The weather is why I don't live in the USA, and picked TH. USA, west coast, quakes & rain, no thanks, tornado alley, no thanks, FL & lower east coast or gulf, hurricanes, no thanks. Cold A$$ Canadian winds, hell no. Doesn't leave much, the Appalachians, nah, too far from coast. Been there, done that, passed on the t-shirt. TH, no major quakes, only 1 typhoon made it around, once in century tsunami. Feel pretty safe here, along with one of the few countries that can feed itself. Weather, CC, MMCC ... doesn't concern me, and can't do anything about it anyway. Build on high ground ... check No hills or streams near house ... check Away from high tide ... check Close to surf for food and or water if needed ... check Greenhouse, garden ... check Store rain water ... check Solar ... check EVs ... check Prepped for the apocalypses ... -

All you CC & MMCC believing folks out there got solar at the house yet ? Still driving those fossil fuel air polluting ICEV. Spilling that crap on land and sea to get to the refineries to pollute more air and land, then transporting it and polluting every where it goes. Stop talking, start doing .. what do they say, you're either part of the solution, or the problem. Which are you ? -

I don't pay taxes, and all the taxes I've paid, I think I've just about got back. Any I didn't, well ... I'll just tell myself they went to people that needed it. Folks on (USA welfare) food stamp program, or HUD housing, which I also got back, since some properties I owned were Section 8'd. My way of mentally not supporting wars, or the non existent MMCC, or CC, that you can't do anything about. CC damage, whatever, believe what you want, but isn't damaging anything IMHO You want to blame coral bleaching on CC, fine, ignore the pollution that is the cause ... IMHO I would like to see a list of programs you taxes should go to, and you get to pick which & where they go, at tax time. -

Why is the Thai Countryside full of discarded rubbish?
KhunLA replied to stix40's topic in General Topics
With the level of pollution, corruption & litter, TH will always be a 3rd world country, with modern things Seems their idea of progress is 1 step forward, 2 steps back- 77 replies

Rhetorical no doubt -
Blue-winged Pitta - Pitta moluccensis Yet to see one down here / PKK, and looking at range map, a bit scarce in this area.

I've done long bus trips, BKK - CM & BKK - Phuket, and flew back both times. Taken the bus Udon Thani to BKK, and no, would never again. Not even a fan of trains, but better than the bus. Taken the train seperate trips, BKK - HH, HH - BANG SAPHAN, and a couple R/T PKK-BKK-PKK. NO THANKS, no desire to repeat, although new trains, PKK to BKK might not be bad, but not happening with a dog.

No ... actual cost of 140 kms or 20k kms a year, if one drives that much vs public trans, when needed. Drive less than 20k a year, and per kms cost are more. Unless you own a 328k baht Celerio and getting 20 kpL, then I'd take the bus anyway .. Just did a quick calculation of our last ICEV, and over 2 yrs & 40k kms, cost 420k bath, or ~10.5 baht per kms. 140 kms to BKK cost approx. 1470 baht, all things being equal vs <200 baht for the bus. Paid 700k sold 400k cost 300k petrol 100k ins 12k tax 2k oil changes 6k 420k / 40k = 10.5 per km True cost per kms of car ownership. Didn't own it long enough for tune-up or tire & brake replacements, aside any oops.

EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Same morning surfside dog run, with a few extra kms, and a bit slower, since getting a quick rain downpour. Using 12.9 kWh per 100 kms. Closer to the 360 kms range I quote for local driving, and actually 358.9 kms. Little to no stop & go, so little regen back to battery, and in the 360 kms range for most of our local driving. -
Maybe he doesn't want or own a car. So <฿200 for the bus, Patts to BKK. Patts bus depot to Ekamai bus depot is ~140 kms. That's 10 L of petrol (91) in my old iCEV, so round up to ฿400. Tolls, haven't a clue ฿100 ? But wait, there's more. Daughter just bought a car, and bank note will be ฿15k a month for 4 yrs, and I think she put about ~฿160k down. After the first year, needs to pay for car insurance, ~฿1000 a month. Then there's that yearly tax, two oil changes, if ICEV, IF driving 20k kms year. So you think that trip to BKK from Patts only cost ฿500 ... Did we mention safer by bus ...

The game is on, and hopefully they'll try to out do each other ... The Chlorophyll @ Hua Hin, the largest EV Pavilion in southern Thailand, having eight electric vehicle fast-charging stations. Please let us all know, what they can do, IF, MMCC is true ? That they've known or suspected for decades, but haven't done a damn thing yet to affect it, except raise taxes. Raising taxes isn't stopping Climate Change. FACT: ... It's the weather, you can't change it. https://www.facebook.com/reel/893408302493780
