Those on retirement visas/extension, already pay more taxes than most Thais, simply via the VAT. 800k @ 7% = 56k yearly We pay the same RE Tax, via wife or if condo owner We pay the road tax, for use of We pay the petrol tax if using Tax on our utilities; water/electric. We get charged extra for most other non essentials; ... parks & attractions ... hospital visit, though far from non essential We would get nothing extra for additional income tax payments. Still have to ask to stay every year. Do a pulse check every 90 days. Limited to work, limited to own land/home (condo only). No healthcare benefit, and just the opposite, charge a 'foreigner fee'

You obviously haven't walked it all at high tide, as it laps against to steps and wall at some spots.

I get you're line of thinking. But 2 dishes I rarely order, fried rice anything, or pad Thai. There has to be absolutely nothing else of interest for me to order either. No fried rice, as just not a fan of, beside TH rice lacking any nutritional value IMHO. Along your line of thought, I'll order Sweet & Sour whatever, when stumped for choice, as hard to screw up, and a nice serving of veggies, which I don't eat enough of at restaurants.

Haven't been to either in over 18 years. But dined very well when I was there. Don't even know if any of the places I've eaten at are still open since the situation the past couple years. Only returned to a couple favorites since then, and still operating. Not fine dining, but tasty surfside dining. Unless another pandemic, doubt if we'd be returning to Phuket. Always use to pop into KataMama Seafood when there, though last time, no parking, so gave them a pass. And why we won't be going back to Phuket, too congested. One of the only places still open during the situation, since packed with locals, and not dependent on international tourist customers. When O&A, we usually don't revisit any place twice, as not there long enough, and prefer to sample new venues.

That they have already, and it's only Soc Sec. Any other funds I bring in, it's via ATM, and simply for convenience of use, not for evasion. Don't know how they would track that, or tell if I'm not a tourist simply making a withdrawal. Besides, I could easily keep that amount below taxable levels, especially since my pittance of a pension wouldn't be taxable anyway, since married & over 65. I'd have to bring in over another ฿570 or ฿670k I think, from earlier calculation of deductions allowed.

I might start volunteering (doubtful) my taxes money, when they start treating me like a Thai tax payer. When we start paying the same, I expect the same. ... no foreigner surcharge at govt hospital. ... entrance fees at Thai Nasional Parks & attractions ... owning land would be nice. Same rights all tax paying or not, that nationalities, including Thas have in the USA.

It's hard enough for the USA to prove tax evasion, let alone TH. At present, I don't even think there's a system set up for them to know your various income sources. Let alone be able to tax it, if it's now making it's way through the Thai banking system. My Social Security gets direct deposited in Thai bank, but they have no information on my company pension. Our investment/interest earned in my brokerage accounts. If I had rental property, that wasn't Section 8, even the USA IRS wouldn't know about it, let alone TH TRD.

I don't know about 'fine' dining, as my USA experiences & TH version of, are completely different. But agree, I have no problem finding excellent food when O&A, especially on the few islands I've visited. More a mainland surfside kind of guy. You can't find excellent food, you're not looking very hard. Usually have to go more than 50 meters from your hotel. Advantage of self driving & good research. Can be a bit more challenging in Nakhon Nowhere, but most don't travel there anyway.

Land Dept Revises Guidelines for Foreign Ownership of Land
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not seeing any changes either. If you have $1M, and can't make it, there is something seriously wrong with you. First thing I'd do is buy 10 houses ($500k spent) and Section 8 them. That would generate $8k - $10k a month income. There's your living expense, and the other $500k for house & toys ... if ... planning on being stationary, though doubtful. -
BKK Bank Anti American

Just getting the tax/legal fee dollars back that they took, that I wasn't in agreement with. Since you don't know my circumstance, you don't understand my reasons to do so. Do agree though, scammers are the reason for most rules & regulations. Some of us, do fall in the cracks of being right, and the govt was wrong in their actions against us. Actually, I think I got back or close to, every tax dollar I ever paid. Now it's penalty & interest payment recovery time, using their tactics ... 23 years of collecting SS, although it is something employers & myself paid into, so not a gift from the govt. They shafted me a couple times ... pay back is a bitch -
Land Dept Revises Guidelines for Foreign Ownership of Land
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not sure it would be the USA again, but quite easy to live there with 1M. Not sure where it would be, or if anywhere permanent at my age. If I had $1M liquid 23 yrs ago, I don't think I would have come to TH, or rather, stayed in TH, after divorcing 1st Thai wife. A temperate zone country with no air / water pollution would be a better choice. -
Thai leaders dodge meeting with UN human rights commissioner
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Nice to see the UN ignored by Thai officials. Not that I agree with how protesters are treated in TH, but the UN is a self serving, politicalized joke ... IMHO Simply doesn't deserve any respect from any nation. Simply wasted USA tax $$$ for the tax payers. -

" upon investing a minimum of 40 million baht in the country." Don't think I'd be living in TH if I had $1M+ liquid USD. -

Not sure about 9-11 being the reason, but if your funds are from Soc Sec, they don't want you dying, and not being notified, with someone continuing to withdraw your SS indefinitely. Told the wife to bury me at the house and don't tell anyone ... keep on collecting as long as possible. I haven't tried a transfer recently, but ATM rarely worked so I cancel the card, and found out they aren't allowed afterwards. She can use to scan pay after I crap out. I keep my passbook transaction to a minimum, so less to copy at extension time. 12 deposit & 3 or 4 withdrawals per year so not to break the $10k threshold. -
Far-Right Rhetoric Intensifies Following Trump's Guilty Verdict
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump / right hit piece ... big surprise From wiki: "According to a 2020 Knight Foundation study, Axios is generally read by a moderate audience, leaning slightly toward the left. Ground News, AllSides, and Media Bias/Fact Check, have all rated Axios as having a "lean left" bias." -
What you think about Asian wife's or Girlfriends
KhunLA replied to still kicking's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Thai or Asian is irrelevant. When you live in TH, you'll be with Thai women, since most are Thai. Don't over think it. If still in the USA, it would be American women. Both nationalities work well for me, as damn fun folks. -
That's Szechuan (Sichuan) chicken, and is a spicy stir-fried dish that is popular in the Sichuan province in China. Not your boring Thai chicken & cashews

I believe so, as used TH in the search parameter. As you know yourself, plenty here, though can't give my opinion about OP, as couple posts already deleted. Posted this earlier also, but got deleted

I know a few that have successful relationships, still together, not sure how happy. Also know about the same, where It didn't work. At a guess, about the same 50% success/failure rate of relationships/marriages as with non-pros in USA. Don't think failures had anything to do with gal or guy's previous work. More age, social misunderstanding or financial strain, as same as non-pro relationships/marriage failures.

Global tax ??? Another 'what if scenario' I don't need to worry about. Been here 23+ years, and not one 'what if' has happened yet

There is a list of terrorist organizations & individuals put out by the UN. Hamas is not on it. Google, as always in your friend ... ... PEACE OUT

Guess the screenshot wasn't enough ... how's this Unless you have a link stating the UN has listed them as a 'terrorist organization'.
