I'll never argue that point -
How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
KhunLA replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It isn't ... try to keep up. WW III, nukes, nuke winter = climate change, just a different spin on it. Just another end of days scenario that's not going to happen, same as your OP, who will TH align with Title: "How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?" -
How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
KhunLA replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
And neither have the people I reply to ... we're all broken records. Just because they repeat it, doesn't make it true. Another 100 years, and both sides of the argument will probably be stating the same thing. Same as the last 100 years, when the doom & gloom climate alarmist predicted we'd be in a dire climate state already/now, or worse, already dead & gone due to climate. Still waiting ... Same with nukes ... remember the bomb drills & fear prompting some to have bomb shelters Pure entertainment brought to you by MSM, and the profiting puppeteers. How many times are y'all going to fall for the same BS ... WAKE UP -

You're still here aren't you ? Yes, the climate will change. Because of humans ... NO. Anything humans can do to prevent climate change ... NO Will climate change affect human existence ... NO Will climate change end the life on the planet ... NO Will scare mongering make a lot of money for the climate change alarmist ... YES -
Something TH will never have to worry about. They'll always get a free pass from the USA, which means the rest of the west. Teflon Thailand Case in point, Military Coup & Martial Law = no USA foreign aid, so they renamed, initiated the ISA No foreign aid interruption.

As silly as this 'what if' / WW III, nuke apocalypses thread / scenario is, when someone adds or mentions climate change, well, thanks, as always good for an additional laugh ... Read some of the links I posted above, as lots of 'end of days', and many are climate change disasters that didn't happen. -
Salmon & onions, kraut, roasted peppers & tater salad, prepped already except for salmon. Feeling lazy. Quick hot weather dinner.

How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
KhunLA replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
TH would align with the obvious winners, CH, who would form a pact with RU. Game Over for USA & NATO (UK/EU) As would the other SEA countries, meaning they could feed & energize themselves. Few countries can state that. -

How Safe Are You - Living in Thailand?
KhunLA replied to MangoKorat's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think the opposite, and the war mongering is all BS. The countries, ALL, are too intertwined economically, trade wise to ever have an all out war. Just not economical. The little proxy wars provide more than enough stolen tax money from y'all to satisfy the puppeteers. MSM keeps you scared enough, so that you don't question your gov't. Along with letting you know the dire consequences when you do. If the big one ever did happen, I really can't think of a better place to be, than where I am right now. Almost self sufficient, and could have a bore hole dug, or just desalinate seawater if rain water wasn't enough. Prepped & ready Those living rural, no worries. Those in the metros, good luck surviving the first week or 2- 272 replies

Makro is the only option where we live. There's a Lotus's, but one of, if not the worst in TH. Not much of a step up from 7-11 and we only go there for Swensen's. More than a few fresh markets and decent weekend night market surfside. We didn't even build a house here, on land we had for about 5 years until they built a Makro here. Luckily they completed it, just as we were leaving Udon Thani after 17 ish years, in search of a new location. Gourmet Market @ Bluport Mall @ Hua Hin is about 1 hr away, though TBH, when we pop in, we don't leave with much, if anything. The Makro @ Pranburi is much better also, for western food, if that's your thing. I really can't be bothered with store bought western fare. Though do plan on stocking up on some deli/cold cuts next time at GM. I could go for a pastrami & provolone sandwich. One of the few things, deli meats, I miss from Philly, PA, USA area.

Nothing free for us Yanks back in the USA, except National Park entry after 60 yrs old. Our Medicare (universal) care isn't cheap, and like most countries with, good luck finally getting to a specialist. For Yanks (again), you pay income taxes no matter where you live or where you earn money. If not mistaken, don't most countries, worth living in, tax expats' income? For me, weather is almost a negative, as not a hot weather person, (so move south ) though did live in Memphis Tennessee (USA) area, and a whole month of 38-39-40C wouldn't be rare. USA being so large, it's easy to find good weather, barring hurricane & tornado seasons. Those 2 eliminated full time living in more than couple areas. Beaches, mainland, better than anything on the gulf here, and not as polluted as Phuket, though you really can't afford to live walking/cycling distance from them, like I do here. From the Carolinas, south to the Florida Keys, just silly expensive, along with hurricane season. Never warmed up to the Gulf of Mexico, though can't say I gave it a fair shake. Cost of Living ... basics I think is about the same. Our eat in lifestyle now. Restaurants are cheaper here, per se', but you do get what you pay for, and little to no ambiance, unless going way high end. It's the RE tax & healthcare that is the real kicker for Yanks. None & accessible here/TH (respectfully) and inexpensive, if healthy or not needing ongoing high tech care. Although with deductibles of the overpriced healthcare & med in USA, not sure any of it is cheaper with insurance at USA. Also here by choice and could go back with no real concerns, but have no desire to. If ever forced to, very doubtful 'what if', think I'd look elsewhere before returning. Only thing I miss is the change of season, and love a bit of snow, spring & fall. Think I've had enough of summer. Thankfully Yanks on Gov't Social Security (retirement) get a pass on the TH income tax thingy, Unless actually having real income. Had opportunity the past 6 ish weeks to visit national parks here (3 locally) for free, and didn't even bother, as most aren't worth the car & wife fee to enter. I find the surrounding area, as good or better than actually in the parks, with few exceptions

oops ... Makro Wish I could find decent onion rings. All seem to be the 'formed' same size, and not much actually onion ring or flavor to them. Usually too lazy to make them. Occasionally find good ones at vendor, but rare.

Unless your 2048 ninth grandparents were gay or anywhere in between, then you wouldn't need to think about much ... does make one think how things will be in 400 years. Minimum wage should be quite a bit more

Is it safe to use a public WASHLET?
KhunLA replied to Captain Monday's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
use public toilet at your own risk. Seems like the squat toilets may be more hygienic -
Not exactly homemade, just home cooked. I like shrimp cakes/donuts, but hit & miss at vendors. These had decent flavor, and 10 pieces so about half price what most vendors would charge. May want to sample, cheap enough. Optical illusion, realistic size, the one in the back

Trump calls on Alabama to protect IVF treatment after court ruling
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The price of IVF just went sky high, if clinics will even continue to offer. Anyone changes their mind, and they're stuck with an embryo ... forever. That ruling really makes you 'pause for thought'. I believe life begins at conception, as if undisturbed/aborted, it will be become wee one. I just glad I'm not a woman. I'm against abortion ... but ... I'm also in the 'my body, my choice' crowd, so have no right to tell a woman what to do. Instead of banning all abortion, w/exceptions, anyone past a certain time period, must watch a vid of an abortion, in the months that they are, if wanting one. At a very early point, it looks like a newborn, just smaller. Most gals don't even realize they're pregnant till into the 2nd month, and looking like a baby already. -
Agree with OP, if policy, then probably a money grab. Daughter applied/accepted to a few, and no such requirement. Or was there even enough housing for all. Some of housing was disguising, and she wouldn't even consider staying there. I don't remember her liking any of the dorms that she saw. When at Uni, she visited the housing and as expected, party party, drugs & alcohol, which she was not into at all.

Actually all about savings. To energize, maintain and probably longevity, value for baht. The added performance is just a plus. Not needed, but really nice to have when wanting. I can now pass vehicles in less time, when before, w/ICEV, I wouldn't attempt to. Saves time, and for my driving style, makes passing safer.

Brazil has an excellent trading partnership with RU, with increases yearly of imports & exports. No surprise being part of BRICS. RU in the top 5 of import goods to Brazil. Russians can still travel to 79 countries of the 193 member countries of the UN, without a visa.

Do you respect the USA for direct support of Hitler's military & economy in the early going of WW II ? Your ignorance is shining, as the USA voluntarily supported Germany, where TH didn't have any option with JP. Some folks & their businesses even supported Germany after it was illegal to do so. TH did what they had to do to survive, with JP's occupation. Didn't have much choice. There's a time to fight or go the resistance route, and help the allies, in their fight against JP. Even while they/Allies were bombing Bangkok & TH. And TH was very successful in the resistance movement and assisting the Allied forces against JP. You may want to do some actual research before posting next time. Google is your friend. Start with US senator Prescott Bush, as that should open your eyes a bit: 'His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act' USA auto makers supplied the Nazi war machine also.

Thai for Thai ... why would TH cower to silly sanctions imposed by USA. As those sanction do nothing but benefit the USA. USA for USA, and no different. USA doesn't care about other countries' conflicts and a bit hypocritical considering their past invade & occupy policies in just the 21st Century. Besides, the USA needs TH more than the reverse. TH being one of very few in SEA, that allows USA military to use their land and sea bases. With that in mind, TH can do what ever they want, always have, and always will. One of the things I respect about TH

Any metro the size of Krung Thep with 10M population and especially an open sewer system is going to have a few more rats than some would like. Add the Buddhism thinking of live and let live, and you'll definitely see them around town.

I didn't even bother test driving the EV, since owning the newest ICE version of the MG ZS. Reading the specs was enough, 0-100 kph in 8+ seconds vs 12+ seconds. I thought the ICE was peppy enough as it was, so getting 50% more, at 75% less cost, if using PEA ... no brainer for me. Having solar, just icing on the cake Only drive in 'eco' as more than enough power and out paces any ICE at that price point. Don't even bother with 'normal' or 'sport', and only tested them. Sport is pretty freakin' awesome. Can't even image the other performance EVs doing <4 second to 100 kph. That' insane
