  1. Better, as we get 2-4 months of bad smog, and that's actually 80-110 AQI, so much better in amount and length of time to deal with. Not a whole lot of rice, corn or sugar farming, so a lot less burning. Plus less people overall.
  2. We have the MG ZS EV (฿949K), after owning the ICE version (฿695k) for 2 yrs, now ฿749k. Love/d both of them. https://aseannow.com/topic/1276247-ev-owners-…-real-life-experience-help-thread/ Did cost comparison on that thread, using 10 or 11 kpL. Now would use 14kpL @ ฿37+ per L. As we used E85, but no advantage to now, since price is almost the same as 91, which gets more kms per L. E85 was 25+% cheaper, now as stated, almost same price. If planning on spending ฿800k - 1 mill anyway, then you should peek at the MG EV line up. If going for top end entry ICE (made in TH), then you'll be knocking on ฿800k anyway. Keep it for just the 8yr battery warranty and the savings over petrol & maintenance is considerable, along with added performance & comfort.
  3. Disagree, except for the smog, if living Hua Hin or above. Do agree, not much on the OP's list to motivate anyone to move to TH. Nothing on the list is special, and the only thing I found accurate, after finally looking at, was cost of living, when labor is involved. But no different than any other 3rd world or developing country, I would think. Long term visa is easy enough, but have nothing to compare it to, as never researched.
  4. Probably from the barstool next to him. 3 mill would be silly.
  5. Charging Stations when O&A (out & about), not charging at home. Average about ฿8 per kWh, unless located in HiSo mall, but rarely over ฿10 per kWh. Scam if charge by hour, IMO, as you really don't know how many kWh per hour that will be, I don't think. TBH, never tried 'by the hour' chargers. Apparently much cheaper than what the EV trolls post about the irrelevant UK cost for TH.
  6. Yea, that axis is a b!tch. 2nd house was rectangle, due E to W, long ways, and N wall, all glass. Forgot about the axis, and couple months a year, the early sun was blinding for couple hours.
  7. We have the ZS. They were drunk & drugged up, pulled out in front of me, from a one way street, the wrong way. Barely touched the brakes, and hit them full force. Contact their front driver side, all the way to driver's door, and sent them spinning back to street they came out of, landing against the corner building. Was sure I killed someone. Scared the sh!t out of me, till ran over to the car, and realize their drugged state. Probably saved their life, as no snapped necks. Kind of funny after that ... dumbAsses.
  8. @Danderman123 "I have started working on sunshades for my condo, using solar panels." Smart move, I like it. Are they fixed, if south facing or adjustable, if E or W facing. Got me thinking now for a small project, as have no E facing panels now. Haven't noticed temps being any hotter or cooler, as March & April have always been brutal. Did have a seemingly longer rainy season last year, though may have only noticed, since solar was installed then. But from chit chat here, seems well into late Oct, overcast & still raining most areas.
  9. I only 'prep' for a month or so, and only so I don't need to go shopping every day. Can do on the scooter when I'm out every day on that, weather permitting. USA, EU, RU & CH folks need to worry about prepping, not TH. They want to wipe each other out, fine, have at it, as too many humans on the planet anyway. Just think, no tourist, just like covid BLISS days here .. ... bring it, PLEASE
  10. So he was actually rescued, as wasn't that far off shore, and I could have actually swam back if needed, and tide in my favor. Cool raft though, I like it, though he may want to fit an electric motor to it, sail or foot paddles ????
  11. Closer to ฿1 per km. It would cost about ฿370 for full charge, and we can get 370 kms from that. Battery is 46.3kWh (usable), and CS are about ฿7.5 per kWh, round up to ฿8 for tax if not included. I usually top up around 250-270 kms, and car usually tells me we have another 100 kms in reserve, so a good ballpark, and makes for easy math ???? That's 3-4 hrs on TH roads, so we're ready for a stop, especially the wife & dog.
  12. Don't have an answer, as don't follow the story, or care. As I stated, lost respect for the SCOTUS and the USA a long time ago. Part of the reason why I left.
  13. I did say 'most' vocal members. I really have nothing in common with them. Rarely drink alcohol, don't P4P, and actually like Thai people and my in-laws. Actually chose to live in TH, not out of financial or social necessity. Nothing wrong with the financial part, if needing, but does mean I have no regrets with my choice, and never feel stuck here. Along with thinking farangs per capita, are more irresponsible & worse drivers than the locals.
  14. EV's will never compete with ICE as quick top up over the road. That's just not going happen. If we only did O&A on weekends, then I'd strongly would have reconsidered keeping the ZS ICE. Retired, so we pick & choose when to travel. Flooding is irrelevant 'for me', as I won't drive either, ICE or EV through flooded streets, whether they say you can or not, and thankfully, never need to. If that was an issue, I'd own something built for it, with sealed wheel bearings ????
  15. I drive all over TH, rarely if ever fly. I actually enjoy driving, and wouldn't never put my dog on a plane. To much hassle to fly now of days, and you can't take anything with you, and I'll need a car when I get there anyway. Besides being cost effective for 2 adults & dog. Stress out my dog in a cage, in TH heat...no love there. Prefer the ZS over the EP, for the same reason, shorter length. I do agree, the EV market is limited MG needs to come out with a <600k MG3 EV, or one of them with stripped down EV truck, <800k. All vehicles, ICEs & EVs are just silly priced. Cars costing as much as houses, that's nuts. Kudos to Suzuki for offering up a 416k AT for around town. Wt. not really a factor and I actually prefer heavier. As long not too much. ZS ICE vs EV wt. 1290 vs 1570 kg I hit a little import with a New Yorker years back, dented up the front of my car, sent the little one spinning into a wall, and they all got banged up inside. ???? No airbags or seat belts.
  16. Actually I have very high standards, especially compared to some of the thoughts and questions some AN members post. Knowing I'm an inspiration to my daughter, yea, not honest with all my answers to her about me, my past, vices or hobbies. Flat out lie, no, evade, hell yea. ???? Lied to get employment, yes, lied on my taxes, yes. Lie to wife/partner, no, as never needed to, or would. That relationship would be over if I needed to lie. Lie to a friend, no, they wouldn't be a friend if I did that. Actually pretty squeaky clean, and many men, women wouldn't confide in me, when younger. As if their wife/GF asked if they were cheating on them, they know I wouldn't lie. People know they can trust me, which will keep a few friend, and lose many acquaintances. Works out perfectly. People who know me, learn quickly, not to ask me questions they don't want the answer to. On topic, as always ... politicians & lawyers, nobody expects them to be honest. SCOTUS ... hopefully does their duty, at that level, but we know that doesn't happen.
  17. Mango & papaya comparison ... ... an entry level 3cyl MT ICE (338k) vs 800k EV, ex: MG EP ... SERIOUSLY, that's just ridiculous. Advantage Celerio ... going further topped up, that's about it. Celerio: Maximum output (PS/rpm) ... 68/ 6,000 Maximum torque (Nm/rpm) ... 90/ 3,500 MG EP: Maximum power (horsepower (kW))163 (120) Maximum torque (Newton-meter)260 Which would you rather own, and drive for 3 -4 hrs straight ? ... nuff said i recommend the Celerio, quite often, if that's what your budget dictates. For others, buy something you actually want.
  18. They were on him pretty quick, all 3, so guessing they already had words with him, and were keeping an eye on him, expecting trouble. Som naa na
  19. Over the road in a Celerio .... no thanks 20 kpL is nice, but not the comfort level for long drives.
  20. I was close, if not R/T, then I thought 1850.
  21. Probably not, but my hotel or really nice munch, would have been paid for, with the savings from not buying petrol to get there ???? petrol ฿3700 (700/14 kpL X ฿37 X2) EV CS ฿800 (720kms) 46.3kWh X2 X ฿8) Of course, if that was 700 kms R/T, then only ฿500 for EV.
  22. @ 34 yrs old, not likely dying from covid, surely some other issues going on, if his positive test. Even during the worst of covid, dying at the age (from (not with) covid) would be considered low risk. USA stat as a reference: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1191568/reported-deaths-from-covid-by-age-us/ Conspiracist thinking ... someone bumped him off and left a pos test there ... ????
