  1. @ozimoron Are his paintings actually on hand, or is it all digital & prints ? "This exhibition includes over 3,000 masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh" Hate to go, and have "includes" .... 'lost in translation' TIA
  2. Impressive: https://www.iconsiam.com/en/events&activities/van-gogh-alive-bangkok Vincent van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam are probably the 2 best, memorable attraction (non nature) I've ever visited. Especially van Gogh's.
  3. I'm normal ... ... although, I seem to be the only one with that opinion. Just a little bias, really, I'm not in denial. OK, lets go with unique ???? "I have had many such encounters over the years and its making me question. does Thailand attract losers or do people become losers when they have been here too long?" Comes down to 'why' they came to TH. If because they can't afford to live in home country or can't afford to 'socialize' in home country, then yea, bit of a loser before they got here. Take note .... 'can't' .... is not the same as prefer not to. Some, do to ignorance/stupidity, gave it all away, because she 'was' different. AND, they did something different they wouldn't do in home country. Buying their short time, known, GF/Wife anything she wanted. Sadly some of those were well off, kind hearted, just thinking with the wrong head. Or simply didn't plan their retirement finances right, expected the exchange rate to be the same for the rest of their life. No oops mentality or prep for. USD/THB, for me, arrive 40+, H/45, L/29 .... OUCH. Makes that 400k & 800k a bit expensive. Others, would pass as low life, bottom of the barrel, scrapings off your shoes no matter where they live. Sadly, way too many live in TH. Luckily, they congregate in the farang ghettos. Easily avoided.
  4. Yea it does, the torque and instant use of available HP is damn impressive. None of that 'xxx@5000rpm' BS. You punch it, it takes off. Makes even low spec'd EVs damn sporty.
  5. No, as we had just bought the MG ZS ICE version. Thankfully, plenty of excess solar to keep that topped up. If I had known an EV would be in the immediate future, I would have simply kept the Mazda2, a couple more years. Lost a wee bit more than wanting selling the ZS ICE version. Daughter was happy though, as 2nd handers weren't offering much for the Mazda. Gave it to her rather them, for what they offered. Govt incentive (฿240k) made up for that, and then some ????
  6. I'm sure CR has nightlife, just not the sextourist/sexpat ghetto strip. When single in Udon Thani, nightlife was excellent, but I didn't visit the sextourist/sexpat ghetto strip, unless a meet up with other expats, actually during a monthly local forum meet up. Aside from that, I avoided once daughter was old enough to understand why it was there. Did have 2 restaurants worthy of visiting for a while.
  7. 9mm was USA, now/TH, carry a blade. As with USA, doubt if I'll ever need, aside from making a sandwich at the food court after buying a roll, pastrami & swiss from the market next door.
  8. On original install, and expecting a 'rotary' meter, took the advise of installer, to use PEA overnight, knowing I could upgrade, That didn't work, as all new meters for our area are digital. Original 10kWh ESS is not enough for our use & abuse. Enough for necessity, but not running the ACs a bit more than really needed overnight the past few months. Enough, but would seriously cut into the longevity of 1 ESS. Life longevity now doubled with 2nd ESS added. I based our system on past PEA billing of 600-700kWh a month, with 1000kWh being the max, and rare. 1/3 of that, is overnight (14 non producing hours). 20+kWh a day being the norm (average 7kWh overnight), with 30+kWh a day now during very hot April.
  9. "Everyone chooses Pattaya" NO, never was a consideration. After visiting a few times, no desire or reason to return. Can't comment on other Asian countries, as TH is 3rd world enough for me. I need good infrastructure. TH meets the minimum and affordable required for my smile.
  10. Only 2 original reasons for me: ... basically no RE Taxes ... affordable, accessible healthcare Added plus since staying; ... affordable solar system ... affordable EVs & CS cost THANK YOU CHINA ????
  11. Hell no ... I'm not registering anywhere with my ID or legal, real name anything actually traceable back to me. I keep a couple email accounts open than didn't require a ph# to register. I think only my USA broker acct & BBL have my real info.
  12. Also ordered many things from AliExpress, with no major issues. Same with Banggood and sometimes those 2 were the only ones carrying what I wanted. Took LAZ a long time to catch up to their level of available products & inventory without drop shipping. Don't build drones any more, so no longer need AE or BG. Have only ordered a few things over past couple years from them vs a few things every week in prior years. Be careful ... shopping get addicting, a one day haul for me at my PO Box, days past: Then the pain, anguish and disappointment, when the box is empty. That long walk back to the car ... thinking 'why why why' https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=934614279938012 As horrendous as that walk from the casino back to the car, thinking 'how stupid, you can never beat the house'
  13. Is it any wonder how 7 million people died from covid worldwide. With many never even tested for the virus. Most (USA) with other health issues. "CDC had "quietly" updated its data "to admit that only 6%" of those listed in the U.S. coronavirus death toll "actually died from COVID" and that "the other 94% had 2-3 other serious illnesses," https://www.axios.com/2020/08/31/cdc-covid-deaths-contributing-health-conditions
  14. Humans lie ... I do, and don't personally know 1 that has never lied. Aside from that, yes, I would expect a SCOTUS judge to be a bit honest after attaining the post. But after the ACA decision, I lost respect for the court.
  15. Savings from petrol and ICE maintenance, over the life of the car, will pay for itself, and then some. So in long run ... FREE. Free use anywhere in the province, Pkk since about 225 km long, and can do R/T to far north or south of without the need to stop at CS, with over 100 kms reserve, since living mid province. 360,000 km / 14 kpL X ฿37 = ฿951,428 ... Cost of MG ZS EV = ฿949K Yep ... lookin' like FREE to me 360 kms per cycle X 2500 cycles Do the math
  16. Already done so, along with house, car, maps ... I'm and open book. Censorship will probably drive me away, in the not too distant future. Along with not having much in common with most members.
  17. You expect lawyers & politicians to be honest ???? When you find 1, let us know.
  18. Drive ? Bringing a scooter with you, on plan on renting on ? Waterfall may be a trickle, till the rains start.
  19. At least 1 stop every province along the way ... any reason to off the train. Added plus, you'll never have to do it again, or return to any of the krappy stops you didn't like. Maybe some helpful info to follow.
  20. Yea, but possibly up. I've bought camera gear here, same price or worse, more expensive than the USA, and it was 'Made in TH' ????
  21. Reaction .... 7 million Don't have one/reaction, as didn't know any of them. 190 of the ~ 350 million population ... and you expect a reaction. worldwide: "There were 67.1 million deaths in 2022." ... again, no reaction, as didn't personally know any of them. Had a BIL die, but didn't really know him, or could even tell his name. "The world population, therefore, increased by 65.81 million in 2022", 65,81 mill more births than deaths. ... reaction ... more people need to either die, or not be born, as the planet can sustain the increase in population for ever. death & birth stats from this link: https://ourworldindata.org/births-and-deaths#:~:text=There were 67.1 million deaths, region from 1950 to 2021.
  22. READ THIS SLOWLY & CAREFULLY IF you ban ALL RIFLES .. ... you'll only stop about 400 murders. I rounded up, as latest FBI stats are 364 https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8.xls
  23. Lucky they didn't have their oops in open waters. Think I'll stick to the mainland. Just another reason not to go to Samui, as IF I'd ever return for a visit.
  24. You're good ... ... I had a flintlock here, yes here/TH, and lucky if I could load 1 round in 1 minute. And yes, that's how readily available firearms are here, just ask and you can receive. Also had a handgun that short a rifle cartridge ... and nope, didn't test that one out. Which in the 21st Century defeats the whole purpose of having a firearm for self defense, when the criminal has a semi with two 30 round mags taped together for quick reload. Or even one 15 rd mag handgun, as would be more common. A simple 5 rd revolver, and you lose that battle vs a muzzle loader. Stop the criminals from having guns, or punish them at least. Don't take guns away from law abiding folks, as they do need them occasionally. Especially if filling up the freezer with venison, and what most get used for.
