Yes, I've ridden in enough of them, (made in TH) and would never own. That goes for most of the Japanese badged cars made in TH. Drivetrains were fine, as everyone has the 1.5L down to a science, but the ride (Vios & Mazda) leaves a bit to be desired. For the price and lack of performance, just take a peek at the EVs on offer before spending your hard earned THB.

Punctuation and caps check ... before criticizing my simple typo, but hey, if that's all you got. Go with it. And the MG owners, inclusive, on here have pointed out things we don't care for, you just choose to ignore it. What ever works for your spin. OP asked for opinions, mine given. It's a forum, as someone pointed out, personal tastes differ. One thing we/EV owners do agree on, once driving and owner, few to none would buy another ICEV of the same class of vehicle. Especially since they are all about the same price.

I can't imagine the 'Cross' being much better, if at all. Had a Vios (basically a Varis) and road noise was the worse of any car I've had. Pretty sad since a new vehicle at the time. Mazda 2 a bit better. Doubt you've been in either MG that I suggest the OP to 'peek' at. As pretty sure, OP is not fitting in either Cross comfortably. The ZS, probably cheaper than both Cross's is quite comfy & quite enough. Never been in the MG5, but at the price point, wouldn't expect any miracles, but also, nothing like the Varis, hopefully. Just peaked, the Varis Cross starts at the highest price ZS (ICE), 800k ish and Corolla version @ 1M NO THANKS Just another CH hater ... have a nice day.

I can think of better things to do w/700k than spend to have a abstract 'T' on the front & back of the car.

The world is burning down... So what are you up to?
KhunLA replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The world outside mine, doesn't really concern me, and I just don't care. They can all kill each other if that is their desire. Have at it. My big worldly priority, is finding something to do the next 6 days, while Out & About. Can't say the weather is cooperating, though the rain knocked a bit of the early seasonal smog down at Kanchanaburi. That was an unwelcome surprise, from Hua Hin to here, and hills are a blur already. Was thinking about heading up to the Mon Bridge area, but that's 3 hr each way, and been there before. Plus, recent photos had clear blue skies...hmm Now just need to find nice coffee shop or restaurant riverside, or up by SaiYok WF. It's there, it's free, might as well take a peek. -
10 years left ... been telling myself that since I hit 30 yrs old. Now, I've been retired almost as long as I've worked my adult life ... hmm, go figure. I've made it more than most I know, and may even squeeze out another 10 yrs. Got a cousin 83, and a brother will 76 at year's end.

OK, I learned something new everyday. I think I would still give it a pair, as the Varis is smaller than the Corolla and I don't think it will work for OP, cuz it doesn't work for me and I'm shorter than OP. @SBACM I would check out the MG lineup, ZS about 700k and MG5 I think that's 590k. Compare specs then go take a peek if you're happy.

Khao Lak officials bemoan the dangerous roads along coastal Phang Nga
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Came back through that way a couple weeks ago, and there is nothing dangerous about those roads. Actually they're quite nice, and was pleasure to drive on. From Krabi, through Phang-nga, and up the coast pass Ranong. Been on most of the major roads in that province, quite nice & enjoyable. Only thing dangerous are the idiots that don't obey the traffic laws. Easily avoidable, though something you can't fix as ... ... you can't fix stupid -
Whats the Protocol if denied entry.
KhunLA replied to Marky Mark Mark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I worked reservations, the ticket counter, gates, ramp, operation, was supervisor, was city manager for airline, hired/fired, did just about everything concerning passenger from reservation, ticketing, boarding, weight & balance for pilots, load baggage/freight/mail, even sampled meals that vendors provided, before approving to be served ... so when I worked for the airlines, if your paperwork wasn't in order, you weren't getting a boarding pass for a flight. Better have a R/T, visa in hand, or an onward flight. This CO & NWA, 1979/80 & 1988/2001 respectfully, so as I stated, unless something change ... it hasn't see below. And NO, I didn't fly the planes either. Did use to start 'em up, (APU) overnight in freezing weather, so water lines wouldn't freeze. Who would have thought, 727s if memory serves. I wouldn't expect a wrench to know about the passengers & policy, but feel free to disagree with someone WHO DOES. Google is your friend, you might start there before replying to post you have no knowledge about. Apparently nothing has changed: https://www.iata.org/en/publications/newsletters/iata-knowledge-hub/understanding-inads-inadmissible-passengers-and-their-impact-on-travel/ -
EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Rare, but occasionally match or beat the NEDC range rating of 403 kms. First leg of daily rounds today, to the park. Giving a range of 497 kms ???? Catching the traffic light on hwy #4, (2X) and another for minimal time, drops the average kph, both to and from park/surfside, as probably about 8 minutes combines of being idle. Continue on from park to surfside & back home. Requiring higher speed due to traffic on the overpass and main roads. Still good for a range of 402.6 kms ???? Just don't expect all the time, or even close to all the time. Combined locally, get about 360 kms per charge, mix highway & in town driving. On the highway, 300-320 seems to be our average, with cruise control set at 90 kph. Sometimes need to go faster for a smoother ride. At end of the day's highway journey, 300-320 kms sticks pretty good, with average speed afterwards 70-80 kph, over 3 ish hours, due to traffic lights & cross traffic. WLTP rating is 320 kms per charge, and you definitely get that local driving, or more as we do. -

Don't agree with mentally ill, but agree, male & female is all the labels, subcategories needed for Homo-sapiens.

That would depend where their sexual preferences are. If a birth male, is now a transwomen, but only has sex with males, then he is definitely a homosexual. Simply enjoys living as a woman. That's the part I don't get. Do we need a new 'trans' designations. What was wrong with simply being gay/lesbian or bisexual. Those 3 cover all the alternative lifestyles. No need for trans-anything or cis and non binary BS. Just more of 'look at me', I'm different ... NO you're not. Straight, homosexual or bisexual ... PICK ONE

Elderly woman in Buriram lives alone without basic amenities for 30 years
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
That doesn't say much for the community. They could have provided her an upgrade in living conditions. -
It's a 'Corolla' Cross, which I didn't realize till now. Yaris would definitely be out of the question. And Corolla, also I'd doubt would be comfy, as most nicer taxi in Krung Thep are Corollas and personally think they're crap. If same interior specs, I'd give the Cross a pass. They really do look nice on the highway though, as I see a lot when out and about. Does explain why they are inexpensive, since based on Corolla platform. Might want to take a peek at the MG ZS ICE or EV version, as more than enough headroom. Not sure about legroom though, as I'm 175cm, and plenty for me. Owned/own both, and happy with both, having EV (1 yr) now after 2 yrs owning the ICE version.

World breaches key 1.5C warming mark for record number of days
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yet another silly, irrelevant, we want more of your money to save you from nothing, news-blip. Long live GW, as it's been beautiful here. Overcast, low temps, and even needing to top up the EV more often, as not enough sun for house & EVs every day. Top up now as it dips below 90% instead of 70s or 80%, as it won't finish. -
I believe the original thought/purpose was to pay the hospital bill for irresponsible people getting hurt or sick here without insurance or funds to cover their bills. As usual, the majority have to pay for the few irresponsible folks with no common sense. It certainly shouldn't fall on the Thai tax payer to pay foreigner's bills. Certainly getting murdered while shopping at the mall was in that realm of thinking.

Srettha says Thai air force ready to evacuate Thais in Israel
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good, get it done, and ban any future people from going to conflict zones, without signing a waiver, stating 'you're on your own', if that stupid. -
Whats the Protocol if denied entry.
KhunLA replied to Marky Mark Mark's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It's the ones who 'visit' 10-11-12 months of the year. So fairly obvious they live here, and either can't meet the financials for long term visa, or don't want to pay taxes/and or, taking a job away from a Thai. Of course, that is why they have the Imm rules. Pretty easy for an IO to spot the scammers. -
I regret visiting a couple animal prisons/zoos here with the wee one. They are really in a sad state. Been to San Diego Zoo, and as 'nice' as it is, it's still a prison, and not a natural environment. I'm really anti any animal enclosures, of any type for any reason. Leave them in the wild. If want to see, go to them.

Ex-Thai PM Yingluck Condemns Violence in the Middle East
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Seems appropriate since Thais got caught in the 'crossfire' of this silly violence. Although, who really cares what she thinks. Violence is violence, and should never happen. Why people even go to or care about this region (I know/$$$), is beyond me. Let them kill each other and return to mid-evil times if they want. As much as I blame Israel for instigating the problem, the Palestinian response isn't winning them any favors. Two wrongs never make it right. Need to have a ceasefire so all nations can withdraw their citizens from the area. Then they can kill each other if the want, and be done with it.
