  1. Y'all should discuss that in PMs.
  2. Aside from the negative comment of what if, she did or didn't, primary residence or not, but 83k sounds about right, depending on sale price of house. Less than 5 yrs, and it is a higher tax rate, I think, along with possible income tax via profit of sale, though doubtful, since only 3 yrs old. Actually 83k sounds low, but depends on sale price. It reads like, she wants out of the mortgage herself, so can't see any negatives. As that liability is all hers. If you break even or make a few, then all is good. It's not in her best interest, for you to just walk away, so I'd ignore most of the previous replies. Next time, buy a condo.
  3. Yet another fake news Op-Ed. Shouldn't it be ... "Russian investors wisely taking advantage of the buyers market after covid shutdowns hits the island of Phuket hard" As the older, family folks with that kind of money, surely aren't on the draft/conscription list for the RU military. Wanting to move their money out of RU because of financial sanctions, is a good reason. Doing that via China banks is quite easy, so I read. Doubt they're taking Thai jobs also. Since illegal, and do they really want them. Use a bit of common sense, it's not hard, and you avoid the BS.
  4. So he says ... and with some of the new fines prices I've seen, 2000 is definitely a possibility, as is 5000 baht. Hope he learned his lesson ... follow the law, as there are consequences. ...it's not rocket science. Anyone planning on cruising my area/PKK, as I was O&A the other day, and noticed a few new speed cameras on Phetkasem rd/Hwy #4. Might want to use that cruise control set @ 90kph as I do now.
  5. If the soap opera happy public didn't support these influencers/YTer, then the market and their annoyance wouldn't be there. I think people should be required to get permits to publish content not about themselves and themselves only. As it is a commercial business for profit, and should require a release form signed. They are not news agencies, which also need permits/licenses and are accountable for their reporting (in theory).
  6. Saw Rory Gallagher open for 10CC .. there's a mismatch. Amazing who got airplay, and who didn't. Strange bookings & beginnings for many. Bluesology w/Reg Dwight (Elton John) touring with Isley Brothers, that Hendrix did a stint with ???? Reg also doing a stint with the Hollies. SRV & Bowie never happened, except on 1 album. SRV only offered $300 per show on tour to play. Along with not sure if Double Trouble would open all shows. So they all cancelled the contract. Apparently SRV was 'complicated' at times, as his wife & cocaine seemed to be an issue with Bowie and his manger. Saw Beck & SRV tour, and at the beginning they ended the shows together n stage playing a song. They alternated headlining, but by the end of the tour, they didn't play together and didn't get along at all. Egos got in the way, or so reported.
  7. Yes, some on many 'western' motorways, unless a certain size scooter, CCs, they are not allowed. No news here ... just another farang complaining about being caught violating the laws.
  8. Sea Hunt ... classic TV, and probably the main influence that lead me to diving.
  9. I don't know about that, as he had to leave the US to get noticed. And the British invasion, many were playing 'black' blues music that couldn't get air time in the US, unless a white guy was playing it.
  10. Sadly it is endless. Just hit the headliners, most should be familiar with. Was going to list Cuba, but the US cut & ran at first sign of trouble ???? All the failed regime changes in S. America & Africa. It's mind boggling.
  11. This isn't a LGBQXYZ+ issue, it's a children's rights issue of parents knowing what's best for their children, until they are adults. You need parents consent for any medical procedure or surgery on a child. This should not be different We all know teens are so mature and never change their mind: ... I want to be an astronaut ... I want to be a nurse ... I want to be a fireman ... I want to be a lawyer ... I want to be president ... I want to save the world ... I want to be a priest ... I want to change my sex Changing you mind is easy after thinking it through or experience something new ... changing your body back, not so much.
  12. This sounds familiar ... "we'll be with you as long as it takes" ???? https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe-64710795 USA didn't stick around long enough for: Vietnam Korea Syria Iraq Afghanistan Libya Egypt ... the list is endless US presidents and politicians can't even keep promises they make to Americans ????
  13. Only on this forum. I personally don't know anyone who cares or talks about the UA/RU conflict, unless in reference to the fake news for price increase/gouging.
  14. Local Makro sells 3 can pack of Brookes for 177 baht.
  15. Would this be the same public that burns their trash, doesn't recycle, and drives their ICE vehicles that pollute around ? Buy a second ICE vehicle instead of a solar system for energy ? You referring to those hypocrites that talk about the problem and make it worse instead of trying to better things ? Those people, the ones that want others to fix what problems they create.
  16. Not the jet skies fault, but the drivers. I certainly wouldn't rent one if told to stay right here in 'this' bay, so if renting at Patong and told to stay there, not allowed to cruise over to Karon or Kata. I've rented before, if not able to rent a boat, depend where cruising around at. Great fun.
  17. All part of global warming, ice caps melting and seas rising ... ???????????? No news here, as just a bit drier than usual. It's called the weather. Guess it beats being flooded about 100 days year, if not needing a ride somewhere. "Like every year at the same time, the City of the Doges faces a low tide. This year, however, it is exceptional in its duration, which leads to many logistical problems." https://ukdaily.news/in-venice-the-canals-are-dry-due-to-an-exceptionally-long-low-tide-356366.html About as news worthy as Krung Thep or areas of TH flooding every year.
  18. Really, did you ask everyone ? Nothing wrong with jet skis, quite fun and practical at times. Just because you don't like them, and guess you've never driven one. Not sure what that has to do with motorbikes or rental of. Live & let live.
  19. Why'd you expect the fees to be so high ? 863m² is just over half rai (800m²), so 1.5mill is quite an expensive guesstimate, for land 30km outside of Korat. Is it farmland needing backfill or level with road, having water & electric, but still, can't see 1.5 mill price. Sold 2 rai 15 kms out of Udon Thani center, maybe 8 pass ring rd, for 1,3 mill and I think xfr fees were 43k. Appraisal is what ever land office says, for the area, but since family to family...minimal fees. You can ask them, as they'll let you know, if selling is planned in the future.
  20. We've only used MG & PEA Volta, and way too easy. Tried Elexa, after we got a CC, but they wanted the size of my penis, and if asked if wife has any hair on her nipples. Oh yea, along with 'business tax #" ... W T F Tried eVolta also, but for some reason, charger stated 'closed', so couldn't test that, and didn't bother with any other, as on the way home with more than enough juice. Just wanted to test. EV Station seems easy enough, though we didn't have CC at the time we tried to test. Someone there stated debit card works also. I like keeping 100kms (30 ish %) reserve, so we're good for 260 ish kms ('eco' mode @ 90 kph), so about 3 hrs driving and ready for a stop anyway, and plenty in reserve, if CS isn't cooperating. If first time with ZS, turn off lane assist, as a bit annoying. And if using cruise control, keep foot near accelerator, and tap if car slows down when you really don't need to, as it likes to keep safe distance from anything in front of you. It take some getting use to, if never driven before with the 'assist' modes. Really liking the 1 foot driving though, and rarely touch the brakes. I keep the KERS (regen) @ #3. That will take a few stops to get used to also, as slows down the car quite quick. With cruise control, it's almost self driving. It will slow & stop by itself at traffic signals/stops/intersections, as long as vehicle in front does. Then then start, after a tap on accelerator when ready to go, and then cruise control will take over again. I've yet to test coming up on traffic @ 90kph, to see if it slows & stops with stopped traffic in front of me ... not that trusting at all. It simply paces quite well with traffic in front of you though, keeping a safe distance. If needing to accelerate, it will go back to preset once done. With lane assist, it will try to keep you in lane, but that's annoying, and since TH doesn't have consistently line painting, not exactly safe to rely on. Cruise control won't engage till doing 40ish kph. Then every up or down, +/- 5 kph. Also if curves of the highway aren't built properly, and car has the slightest sway, it will slow down, also annoying, so again, keep foot near accelerator. Sounds like a lot to pay attention to, but once use to it, it quite nice.
  21. Publisher's attempt at wokeness ... just more silliness. Enormous vs enormously fat ... why bother @Tish 2 already got a thread running: https://aseannow.com/topic/1287026-critics-reject-changes-to-roald-dahl-books-as-censorship/#comment-17911376 For the curious: "Augustus Gloop, Charlie’s gluttonous antagonist in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” which originally was published in 1964, is no longer “enormously fat,” just “enormous.” In the new edition of “Witches,” a supernatural female posing as an ordinary woman may be working as a “top scientist or running a business” instead of as a “cashier in a supermarket or typing letters for a businessman.” The word “black” was removed from the description of the terrible tractors in 1970s “The Fabulous Mr. Fox.” The machines are now simply “murderous, brutal-looking monsters.”
  22. As his presidency is turning out to be ... IMHO ... "‘one of the most shameful periods in American history’ And most of the other administration this century, and prior, from 1963 onward.
  23. Does anyone seriously believe the kid bought gummies in a store with their 'lunch money' ? That's a hell of nice lunch money budget ????
  24. Follow the imported bean trail, and you'll find the expat friendly stores ... ???? New gauge of 'friendly' essential vendors ... more variety, more expat friendly. Unless in search of P4P 'vendors' ... though don't think anyone needs help with that.
