  1. You don't need to add sugar to your yeast to make bread. I don't. Just takes a wee bit longer to rise, that's all. Yesterday's loaf: I get my Ice Cream fix at Swensen's, every Tuesday or so, 2 for 1 scoops. Can't buy quarts and have at the house, as have no will power not take scoop a spoonful out when passing the freezer ... ???? Cream & sugar every day ... not the healthiest, especially if not burning it off.
  2. Yank here, so an opinion that doesn't matter ... ... as usual ???? But independence for tyrannical EU can't be a bad thing. Next up, to save the economy; ... leave NATO ... dissolve your military, nobody is invading the UK ... or at least buy sh!t that works ... maybe an Aircraft carrier that might spend more time at sea instead of dry dock, and actually have aircrafts on it. ... aircrafts that you can actually use ... F-35s ???? There's a few £s that could be put back in the tax payers pocket. Just a thought ... ????
  3. Climate Change ... ???? For those with no memory ... nothing new to see ... move on
  4. Neither difficult nor stressful. Using either, about the same, one just quicker. As stated, every 2 or 3 day, plug in and it does it's thing. 20% ... 10kW ÷ 2.3kw = < 4.5 hours. Usually plug in about 0600 hrs. Plug in, make coffee, watch sunrise, read internet, walk the dog, locally, or to the park/surfside. Car is topped (80%) by then. Have first meal before noon. Just another beautiful day. Since solar, basically free. Same with the E-MB, about once a week, and takes < 2 hrs for that. Beats making special trip to petrol station, involving a round about journey, extra few kms, just to get there, actually 7 kms to go 3.4 kms away ???? Since station is N, out of the way, of anywhere I go in my normal day. Takes a liter of petrol, just to get petrol. Once a month, I let it balance and top up to 100%. All a bit too easy.
  5. California's ban on big rigs and buses made before 2010 goes into effect in January. Here's what that will mean https://www.kcra.com/article/californias-ban-on-big-rigs-and-buses-made-before-2010-goes-into-effect-in-january/42357986#:~:text=Large trucks and buses made, weigh at least 14%2C000 pounds.
  6. The wall charger that came with the car, installed by MG's subcontractor. Though doubt if it will get much use. Been using the granny/'emergency' (MG's label) charger, since slower is better for battery longevity. Charges at 2.3kW an hour, so a bit of planning, or simply plug it in every day, if needing. 2 months having and only used wall charger (7.4kW) 3 times. 5kW tester, and 2 small top ups, <10kW each, I think. Actually connected wall charger to grid, instead of solar, since it does draw 7.4kW, and will rarely use. Not sure if it really matters, but was thinking, no need to stress the inverter (8kW). Supposedly, inverter will put out 8.8kW, per specs in manual. We plug in every 2 or 3 days, depending, as don't drive much locally, unless explore a new restaurant/coffee shop with view. Still use the E-MB for morning runs with the dog to the park, less than 15 kms park / surfside cruise. I try to keep the battery (50.1 kW) at 60-80%, unless knowing I'm going somewhere, then I'll top up to 100%. Which I did 3 times this pass week, up to Hua Hin & back, and no problems managing. Didn't bother with wall charger. If rainy season I may have had to resort to the wall charger/grid. So there if needed as back up. When we go to Hua Hin, round trip, total 225 kms, and still have 35ish % left. Keep car at 50% minimum, JIC a medical emergency, as will get us to HH within an hour, since local hospital isn't too high tech. Wall charger is now my 'emergency' charger.
  7. I'm hoping they let us lowly MG owners use their Super Chargers, though I think the car will only accept a certain amount / speed anyway. Just the option of more CS would be a plus. Especially 5 yrs down the line. Though not sure how many O&As we'll be up for after another 5 yrs of exploring this tiny A$$ country ????
  8. A spin off from the B&J Ice Cream thread. I personally don't care for some of their political views. And yes, 1 or 2 people of a large company, now sold off to conglomorant ... bla bla bla. Besides silly price, wouldn't buy just for spite. Also easy to do, since a $5 or $10 USA item, with plenty of as good or better tasting competition. I know there's plenty of Anti Chinses, Russian, and in the past it was Japanese products. For whatever reason, past quality issues, especially if buying inexpensive products from anywhere. Then the unfair labor, and suspected eco unfriendly aspect. I know being a Yank, there's a 'Buy USA' mentality in the USA, but what little they do make, is usually silly priced. Not a USA endorser myself, actually the opposite. Personally I really don't care about most things, just give me the best product at best price ... value for my $$$ or ฿฿฿. I really can't think of any product, from anywhere, that I wouldn't buy, as long as it's a good value. A few things I won't, didn't support, when investing, mainly defense contractors. But I did do oil, as soon as Bush 2 was elected. Thankful that I did. Had to talk my brother into 'gay subscription' TV, Christian warrior that he is, before alternative lifestyles went mainstream. Another stock winner. This news-blip got me thinking about it, hence the post. What would you definitely avoid now, in this 'woke' world ? "I bought a Tesla to help the environment. Now I’m embarrassed to drive it,” wrote Blumenthal, who had previously bought a Tesla to reduce carbon emissions. “Due to the recent exposure of Elon Musk’s political views – all of which I hate – I’m starting to worry about what kind of political statement the car is making. Will people see me as a symbol of environmentalism from right, a living oxymoron?” Blumenthal asked. He insisted that this apprehension was driven by Musk’s goal of turning Twitter into “an unguarded playground for neo-Nazis and other random hatemongers and wackadoodle QAnon followers.” https://www.todaypostimes.com/la-times-columnist-embarrassed-driving-eco-friendly-tesla-because-of-musk/
  9. Traffic was extremely heavy this AM, northbound PKK to Hua Hin, even heavier in southbound lanes. More motivation to take the scenic route, via the beaches, from Pranburi back to PKK on my return.
  10. Ouch ... bad bounce, as only 7 or 8 meters and 45 yrs old. Reckon he hit the piling holding the trestle up ... bummer R I P
  11. Ah yes, Gate, Fauci, vest in and pushing the vaccines ... ... doesn't hurt their bottom line, as if they need a few more million or billion at their ages.
  12. If you says so ... my actual experience is completely different than your inexperienced opinion. shh ... these are all secret places ... ... don't tell anyone ???? https://aseannow.com/topic/1279914-ev-charging-stations-cs/#comment-17797581
  13. TH CS network is not limited at all. Matter of fact, way more than needed, as my limited over the road outings showed me. Never had to wait; at Krung Thep, Kanchanaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan or Chumphon provinces. Will that change the next 5 yrs, IMHO, not very much, as so many more are and will be popping up. EV sales don't seem to be keeping pace with CS network. Chargers @ CS station empty so far and never a wait to use. Seems to be the consensus with other actually EV Owners here in TH. My MG ZS ICE took E85 which I had a hard time finding, especially at Krung Thep, as usually only at newest, largest PTT Park station vs CSs are now almost everywhere.
  14. Here's about as real life I can get. Popped up to HH again, at Mazda to pick up daughters car, and did not leave AC on while at Mazda. Google Map & MG ZS seem to agree, 234/235 kms, and about 20 mins at Mazda sounds about right. Hwy #4/Phetkasem & 37 most of the way. 90 kph when possible, then 60 or 70, if not in traffic. Took scenic route home along the beaches, but still 60-70-90 was easy enough to maintain. Photo is self explanatory. Exceeding WLTP rating of 320 kms per charge, consistently, at speeds much higher than their test speeds, w/AC, & 2 ppl/dog+ Second set of numbers (NEDC), was yesterday, my usually hop over to surfside. 25-50 kph, as actually on hwy 4, and the overpass to surf, but no real need to go speed limit, 60 kph, unless someone behind me. That would be true knock around town numbers for us. Again, beating NEDC rating of 403 kms per charge.
  15. Made it further than me, as I couldn't get pass the trailer ????
  16. cans of chili and cheese in a slow cooker for how long ? microwave for about 2 minutes and get the same results.
  17. thank MSM for that, since showing how easy & successful it is to do.
  18. ???????????? "Thailand Motor Discussion" It's a 'tinker' car, and performed as I would expect. POCCO and Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, offer models in that class here. Very low spec'd, but a tad expensive, or I probably would have bought one for around town locally. Only 170 kms range, and definitely NEDC. Wuling being the 2nd BEST selling car in CH. https://carnewschina.com/2022/09/01/top-10-best-selling-electric-vehicles-in-china-in-july-2022/ https://www.autofun.co.th/news/เทียบสเปคกันชัด-ๆ-pocco-mm-vs-wuling-mini-ev-เจ้าจิ๋วคันไหนครองใจคุณ-37641
  19. Been using "ABC drier" for a few years now, with heating element & fan on top, all plastic. Works great, for fruits & jerky. Sold out on Shopee, don't think we paid that much for it, as didn't buy it on Shopee:
  20. +1 ... enjoyed that also. Jack Ryan S03, good as expected. Watching 'Echo 3' now, and also quite good. 6.5 on IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12762512/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Echo 3 ... a bit 'woke' but tolerable. Checking off all the boxes, gay, interracial, handicapped. If that bugs you, may want to give it a pass. Kind of funny, as wife & myself watching, lesbian, check, handicapped, not main character, but at formal dress wedding, and titanium leg exposed, shy of knee, not just an ankle shot. Next one I predicted, as male actor states "my husband wouldn't like that" ... wife is like, 'did he just say husband'. Yep ... me "all they need now is interracial couple & all checked off". Next scene, the husband is white, check. Wife laughing her A$$ off.... 2 checked off in 1 actor. Get past it though, as well worth a watch. Almost like watching a sporting event on TV now. Next 'woke' character show up in the scene and it's like "score" ... Ok check that off. While I'm at it, the most woke thing I've seen, though again, it was quite enjoyable ... "Bad Sisters" ... gays, handicapped, interracial, and almost every white male character was an a-hole. Just the title tells you it will be male bashing. Bad Sisters: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15469618/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
  21. Yea, it wasn't a planned night out. Bought extra tickets for daughter's friends, who backed out at last minute, so stuck with 4. Managed to sell 2 at the venue, but had 2 left. So either sell cheap, as show was about to start, or actually go in. Needed to kill less than 2 hours, as needing to come back & get daughter & friend, our simply go in. They were a pleasant surprise, not that I'd pay to see them or buy their music, but enjoyable. Note to self: buy for daughter +1 in future.
  22. do your research and buy from 'flagship' store or authorized reseller, and should be happy with your purchase. Their sites will, should have links to their flagship and or authorized sellers, and only use those links. ex: Xiaomi:
  23. I wouldn't venture into a place that played that style of music, as not a fan of, or can relate to. If it came on the radio (which is why I no longer listen to) but if I did, I'd turn the channel. Only know a few 'pop' folks, Bieber & such, because of daughter will play via bluetooth in the car, which she has a good ear for, and knows what I would like. Actually went to 1D concert when at BKK, and not an unpleasant experience and see the attraction for the youngins. First 'boy band/singers' (1D) I've seen in concert, non instrument players. Enjoy the Temptations of days past, but they also had a kick A$$ band behind them on later albums. Daughter actually listens to the lyrics, and likes singing, harmonizing groups, so likes some of the Eagles & CSN stuff. Even Ozzy & Lennon, and cracked me up the other day ... stated she's tired already of being a "working class hero".????
