Can someone explain to me how you can tell they are Russian, or any nationality unless in conversation with them. We were on Phuket this year, and I saw/met one couple. Only knew they was Russian, as the Aussie at the pool asked him where he was from. Although, with that observation, I can honestly say, more than 33% of the int'l tourist I met on Phuket were Russian. Talked with 1 Iranian, 1 Aussie couple, and 1 Russian couple. Since I'm an expat, wife/Thai, we don't count as int'l tourist. So I can honestly say Phuket is being overrun with Iranians, Aussies & Russians ????

Most MG models are, except for the EVs.
-
Agree 100%
-
I never heard anyone say they are cheaper to manufacture. Cheaper to operate (in TH) and maintain. No more or less expensive than ICEV, with or without the incentives. Most incentives only 150k max now. Only MG offered 240k & 247k incentives in the beginning, and only on 2 models.
-
That makes no sense at all. EVs are no more expensive that comparative cars in the same class. Considering the components, the added price between our MG ZS ICE & EV is quite justified. Try buying 50kWh of battery for your solar system that has an 8 yr warranty. Decent EV start at 549k, and at same price as the cheapest decent ICEV, with lower operating & maintenance cost. Our EV without the govt incentive would cost the same as many ICE SUVs in the same class.
-
It is in my case, as an EV was not in the game plan, as we bought a new ICEV at the same time the house & solar were being built/installed. We charge with 'excess' solar. Without the ฿240k govt incentive, a good chance we would not have bought an EV, as very happy with our ICEV. What thrifty shopper buys a new car, then sells it 2 yrs later ? We kept all prior ICEV for 5-7 yrs, selling at the 125k-150k kms mark, not 40k kms. The EV we'll keep till it dies, though we may die first. No extra outlay of ฿ to accommodate charging the EV. Without the EV, we still need the same size solar system to stay off the grid at night. That there is so much extra during the day, is just a plus. Sounds like 'free' to me.

Agree, Iraq was so much worse.

Yet another mango & papaya comparison. Elected, and didn't ban the opposition, or suspend elections. 22nd Amendment wasn't ratified till 1951

Asanha Bucha Day - No One Ever Seems to Know What Day Is For!

Yes I know, and most all things about TH. It would show myself as ignorant, if not, and something I don't wear well. I personally would consider it very arrogant not to know, and don't want to be that person either. Quite rude actually, to not enlighten one's self, especially as a guest. Helps avoiding being disrespectfully, whether you believe or not in local customs & culture. -
Does that include suspending, banning opposition political parties, along with controlling the media: https://www.npr.org/2022/07/08/1110577439/zelenskyy-has-consolidated-ukraines-tv-outlets-and-dissolved-rival-political-par https://www.axios.com/2022/03/20/ukraine-ban-political-parties-russian-ties https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/20/ukraine-suspends-11-political-parties-with-links-to-russia Bans largest opposition party: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/06/23/hxae-j23.html I wouldn't be surprised if this guy has an 'accident': https://www.google.com/search?q=Federal+Intelligence+Service+of+Switzerland+accused+Zelensky+of+attempting+to+“politically+eliminate”+Kiev+mayor+Vitaly+Klitschko&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Why is the USA providing aid to Zelensky's UA, while under 'Martial Law' ? Actually against USA foreign policy. A new billions dollar aid package being approved. As some will remember, USA halted foreign aid to TH, when 'martial law' was declared in 2014. Only to lift martial law in 2015, and simply invoke Article 44 the next day, essentially restricting the same freedoms, that martial law did. What a joke. Simple 'name change' and foreign aid was allowed. Zelensky declared martial law in Feb 2022, and if extended again, (extended May 20, 2023 for another 90 days) will avoid any new elections in October 2023. This is the democracy the USA is backing. Hypocrisy at it's best.

Went there once, and was the most disgusting beach I've ever been to. Sewage, literally, was in the water. Think their treatment plant had an oops, or would hope so, and not happen more often. Although I think an on going issue, as I've never seen algae covering a beach area, and there was no 'algae bloom' in the area Obviously feeding off the sewage, as I've only seen that thing before, at overflowing septic tanks. It was gross, and worst part was, I was in it the night before, and since night time, didn't notice it ... yuck. Nothing like waking up and realizing you were swimming in a toilet the night before. Explains why I was the only one in the surf.

If you say so, although I thought we were discussing TH, or the USA, since OP's link is referenced to the USA. Of course globally, you have to consider Islam, and not fans of gays, with a 23.2% of the population. That's a big chunk who are probably against it. https://www.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/sj14-soc-religmap/world-religions-map/

You must know a lot more different minded straight people than myself. As I don't know anyone, I think, straight or otherwise, that is against gay marriage. Same-Sex Marriage Support Inches Up to New High of 71%

My thoughts would be way off topic, reported & deleted. So maybe another day, another thread that would be on topic to discuss.

You have something against members who simply enjoy reading and getting needed info. Some don't want to get involved with conversations with people they don't know. If not thick skinned, completely understandable. -
And yet, I got a decent, and expected price for our 2yr old/40k kms 2020 MG, considering market, low customer base and average depreciation rate of 15%-20% per year, the first 2 years. Less depreciation as time goes on. Also during Covid, when many weren't splurging on new toys. A buyers market. Happy with the sale. Of course wouldn't have minded getting a bit more, and if located in BKK and a bit more patient, probably would have gotten 10-15% more. But wanted a quick sale.

Was that purchased in TH or Uk ?

On topic, Hunter & the Fed felony firearm charge. We bit of research, very we bit ... but, it seems anything less than a 10 month sentence, will need some explaining to do. So the judge telling them to come up with a Plan B, seems to be appropriate. Also consider, though not sure, Hunter is not a 'felon'. That would make a huge difference. "Penalties for Felon in Possession of a Firearm Under federal law, the crime of Felon in Possession of a Firearm is a Class D felony, punishable by up to ten years in prison, three years of supervised release, and $250,000 in fines. Under the United States Sentencing Guidelines, a person convicted of Felon in Possession of a Firearm would be assigned a base offense level between 12-26, which carries a guideline ... ...range of 10-78 months in prison... before taking into account any mitigating or aggravating circumstances. As of 2016, the average federal sentence imposed for Felon in Possession of a Firearm fell between 46-75 months in prison." Hornsby Law Firm As far as Tax issue goes, nobody goes to jail for not paying taxes, unless circumstance dictate. I owed $70k+ one year, and didn't even file. Jail was never mentioned during 'negotiations' to pay. He owed a wee bit more, but unless doing something extremely scrupulous, jail shouldn't even considered. It's not like he refused to pay it, simply not in a timely manner ???? "According to the tax Information, Hunter Biden received taxable income in excess of $1,500,000 annually in calendar years 2017 and 2018. Despite owing in excess of $100,000 in federal income taxes each year, he did not pay the income tax due for either year. " Not a fan of the Bidens, but it does seem to be a bit of selection prosecution on the tax issue, unless I'm missing something.

Yes it does ????

Oh contraire, I know their history oh too well, and why I'd never buy one, unless it was made by China.

I think you are forgetting who controls the news and flow of information. Using your thought, the 'people in control of the news', tell people a plane was flown into the Pentagon, with some of the most protected airspace in USA, with more than a few active CCTVs going 24/7, and not one photo or vid of the event. Let that one sink in. Take as much time as you need. Freedom of the Press / information ... that's funny.
