  1. When we lived in Udon Thani area, they consistently had rolling brown outs, when downtown needed juice. The outer villages were turned off. Seems my wife was the only person that called in from both villages we lived in, as they turn it back on within 5 minutes of her calling. Can imagine the rep thinking ... ... "Oh Krap ... it's her again" ????
  2. I probably ignored most of those also. I'm smelling sale at the ex-frozen food section ????
  3. No, didn't bother, as can't really get any more irrelevant on a Thai motoring thread than a Swiss news blip. Should that be countered with a Norwegian news-blip about EVs. As for the other infrastructure that I use, that solar or having EVs has nothing to do with, and it's not mandatory to use, then it's simply my tax baht at work. What if scenarios, along with irrelevant mango & papaya comparisons don't add much to an ICE vs EV discussion. Already established, EVs aren't for everyone. IF you like you ICE, and dependency to big oil / fossil fuel, (if no solar), than keep your ICE and stay on the grid ... just don't complain about the air pollution. What if the grid crashes tomorrow ... I'll still have power at the house, and won't have to walk to the market. Can pedal bike it, ebike it, e-MB it, or take that marvel of Chinese technology, powered by that Chinese solar system. Oh my ... say it's not so. CHINA ROCKS
  4. Working for airlines, and at the gate, it happens more times than you think. Though rarely have to deplane after the head count. Never in all the years working for, needing to deplane for accurate count. 23 ish years ago, so cost cutting and staffing may have added to more incidents. Didn't work for LCCs either, so may be a reason.
  5. Looking at YT vids, and the honest ones, I wasn't impressed. They have their use for small meals, small space kitchens, but that's about it, IMHO.
  6. Depends if you plan on returning at all, or for more than a 1 year visit. How long you been here ? If only a year or 2, then you may want to renew, until you are sure Thailand is for you on a permanent basis. Small cost for less hassle if returning. Surely it can be done online. I let mine expire, knowing I wasn't returning anytime soon, and turned out, not at all, as planned that way. No prob, if I do, doubtful, but simple enough to get one. I wouldn't need my motorcycle or truck endorsements anyway, if back in USA.
  7. Whoa ... ... that's 154k over our whole system's cost, installed, with 18/540w panels. The power wall also shy a few kW of ESS, 20 vs 13.5.
  8. Yes, as an attendant could have easily taken the jump seat, and stowaway the attendant's seat. Which, if full flight flight, happened anyway, as they surely wouldn't let the psgr be unseated during landing. Maybe the crew wanted the overtime, and would rather layover in Krung Thep rather than Phuket. Worse even, some 'office politics' between the pilot & head attendant. Punishment for he/she/it turning down the other he/she/it's romantic advance. The plot thickens ... I await the 'made for TV' movie.
  9. Not sure about that, as mine only seems to wake up at dawn ... ... coincidentally, as does the rest of me. Oh Krap ... wrong forum
  10. I was thinking he/she/it hid in the toilet, and they didn't check during head count. Then after airborne, came out to a full flight, and had nowhere to sit ... ... BUSTED Does make you wonder why they didn't just continue and have arrested at destination. Only an hour+ flight, airtime, so he/she/it must have come out immediately after take off and got noticed.
  11. Wow, more info ... ... imagine that, and a good reason for the situation, but yet, another silly headliner. So no real 'Chaos' or drama, just unhappy psgers, maybe, mulling about due to poor customer service, maybe, from a LCC. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Hopefully they got comp'd for something, besides a meal voucher to restaurants that were probably closed, if that late of an hour.
  12. hmm .. should have never left the gate, without an accurate head count. Does make you wonder sometimes ????
  13. This is why we didn't buy an Electrolux, though most other electric appliances are. They don't even make a large and a 3L or 5L size would be useless for us. We have a toaster over (#3 convection oven) for small uses. Should be able to get an 'Otto' type brand, 5L for under 2000 baht. Just peeked on HomePro, and the Otto only goes up to 200°C. Not enough IMO, and you want at least 230° & a powerful fan. Good Luck finding a quality one. Quite the price difference also:
  14. mango & papaya comparison ... as one is a slow cooker.
  15. This YT'er is a big fan of air fryers, and good channel for home cooking. Though I disagree with some of his air frying thoughts. He has more vids on air frying, so search his channel:
  16. The 'oil-free' air frying marketing is total BS ... unless you like your food dry and unevenly cooked. You still have to use oil, and just as any other method, you control the amount. It's simply a smaller, more powerful (maybe) convection oven, nothing more, nothing less. Good for 2 people, or 1, as they are small, or expensive for larger ones. Probably use less energy, if that's a concern, along with possibly easier clean up. We can't cook a meal in our smaller (mid size) 'air fryer', and that's 12L, larger than most. Does cook a large whole chicken nicely though. We have 3 different size convection overs, two actually labeled 'air fryer; 12L & 56L. Those 2 have powerful fans and same cooking temp range. So basically no difference. I still prefer pan frying most things, using; cast iron, SS, ceramic coated carbon steel. French fries ... sorry, have to be deep fried, as yet to taste any other method that is better. Cooked properly, uses very little oil. Use the ovens for roasting veggies and land critter meat & pizza/pizza bread & baked good; bread & pastries. Needing the larger space. Most air fryers do 1 serving of veggies, maybe 2 of meat, if a lite eater. This is our medium size 'air fryer' @ 12L ???? Sonar brand, though not sure I would recommend, but knowing we were going to rarely use, worth the all of ฿850 gamble, and actually works as advertised. As stated, will do a whole chicken nicely, along with sm pizza (after cast iron for bottom), or pizza bread. Good for only a couple pastries, turnovers. If going to use an air fryer on a consistent basis, we would have bought an Electrolux, largest model, but very expensive. As much as our 56L over/air fryer, actually labeled as such and have 3 powerful fans.
  17. Solar = INDEPENDENCE #1 reason why I have solar Also #1 reason why I don't live in such 'nanny states' I don't want or need anything from Govt or state run monopolies: ... electric ... fossil fuel ... water Learned decades ago, never depend on people, govt, corporations or give control to anyone things you need or want.
  18. Ours are in the foyer, and live in AC. I'm comfy, they're comfy. System being a bit larger than needed, so neither inverter nor batteries should be feeling any stress ????
  19. Your guess would be as good as anyone else's. Unless someone I know died from, (and none), then they are as irrelevant as the other 60+ millions dying yearly that I don't know, can't help or do anything about. On Topic ... what made the baht strong during the 'situation', lock downs, Trump (gets blames for everything, why not), RU or CH, Junta. At least it wasn't my fault ... not sure if that's a pro or con ????
  20. another label ... nuff said THANK YOU
  21. I'll wait until the 'Congressional White Caucus' chimes in ... ... oh wait, a 'White' caucus would be racist. How about waiting for the NAAWP to chime in ... ... again, racist Let's give Caucasians an extra 10 points on civil service test, or preferential admissions to universities ... ... again, that would be racist It's 2022, stop celebrating and perpetuating division. Drop the labels, then maybe we 'can just all get along' ???? Morgan's got it right, it's a good 'excuse', not a reason.
  22. Do you want sunshine at the beach ... ... or snow ... UP2U That door swings both ways, nothing stopping you ...
  23. Expect a bit of sticker shock with hotel rates also, as they pass on their higher electric costs to customers. Noticeable increases the last couple times O&A.
