  1. I hope he's had his shots. That's just disgusting. I won't even walk in a flooded street, let alone lay or play in it.

    Buriram

Not sure about 'real town', but the disgusting Elephant factory industry/torture camps IMHO, definitely sets it apart. Which hopefully came to a grinding halt the past couple years, due to the 'situation'.

    Buriram

Did you move there for the 'attractions' or peace & quiet of rural living. Surely you knew that before moving there, hopefully. Buriram has the excellent history/Khmer ruin, restored or not. As with all Thai towns, small or large, the usual Wats, Park, Lake, stream or surf if lucky, City Pillars, Walking Street/Night market. Not sure what else people expect, since not a tourist destination. Some towns have water parks, for a bit of heat relief. Larger towns, simply more of exactly the same. More variety is about all. Unless having a customer base for some other cultural or entertainment venues, that's about all you'll get.
  4. They always could, since 2000. that I know of, as long as getting a 'border pass' (?) beforehand, if not having PP. Wife w/PP just had to sign some form & pay small fee 50 (?) baht. Last time there was 2013.
  5. MG and the ZS is continuing to impress me. MG marketing honesty vs Toyota as an example of not so honest. Latest top up to 100% and 418 kms rack up Using shy of 10% of the battery, and adding 30 kms, and still have more to go, before matching the WLTP's rating of 320 kms per charge. As you can see, average speed of 28 kph, with a mix of coasting down our driveway/gravel soi, low speed at park, and through one-ish lane soi in town, due to deliveries, so stop & go. Also on hwy #4 & RR overpass @ 60 kph and driving 40-50 on surfside rd & 4 lane returning home. That is my usual 13 ish km daily run; home-park-surfside-home. That said, 30kms using <10%, and ZS stating 12.9 kms per kW. Do the math, and on the way to 600+ kms per charge, knockin' around town, and with the AC on. That would be very impressive, and 50% over the NEDC rating of 403 kms.
  6. What's behind the situation ... that's easy ... ... stupidity
  7. 9000 BTU sounds more than enough for 12m² We have 13k in bedroom (23m²), overkill, and a 24k in main room (83m²), which includes the kitchen. More than adequate, and damn chilly at times, though well build house. Mitz rep said it wouldn't be enough ????
  8. Agree completely. Most of upper Gulf is just krap. Lower till you get to Ban Krut, just a wee bit better. Hua Hin to look at, but won't swim in it. Ban Krut & Thung Wua Laem, only 2 I'll swim in. And it's been a while since doing that there. WangKaew was OK, actually nice, but 20 yrs ago.
  9. Never been to Samet, but the Ko Chang beach I was at, fits that description, and the grossest thing I've ever seen, eco-F'd up wise. Quite the shocker.
  10. Not sure those 2 count, as a function, and you probably knew people there. Playing tourist on the beach may be a bit different.
  11. ???????????? My point exactly, as I don't even have a clue what 3 of those are, maybe 4, binary being too vague.
  12. None at all, as I complete ignore them. Couldn't keep up with them anyway. Don't use any, I don't think. The pronoun thing is the most ridiculous, as none mean anything I was taught, and sound silly if using. Want me to call you something other than male/female, man/woman, he/she, him/her ... tell your damn name. If I don't know your name, your existence is fairly irrelevant. My alphabet starts at A and ends in Z. You can line them all up together anyway you want, but TBH, if not an abbreviation, saves me typing something 'I'm' saying, or for a business or stock symbol, I probably haven't got a clue what or care about what you're saying. There is nothing special about any special interest group, except they're making a lot of money for THEMSELVES.
  13. Can agree with Canada, though not a fan of the weather half the year. USA not making the list, and quality of life is/was excellent, for me. Guess it depends who you talk to and how you ask. Netherlands, short visit, but enjoyed. Food sucks. Sweden, short visit, lacks a bit, and weather not so great. Loved every Caribbean Isle I've been to, along with Mexico, and would take them over my impressions of EU / UK nanny states. TH or the Americas for me. Rest of SEA/Asia doesn't interest me at all, as I need good infrastructure.
  14. Think you need a better map & measuring stick. You'll get 250 kms range with MG ZS or EP, and that will get you anywhere you need to go, with CSs much closer than your 300 kms guesstimate. Obviously, you should have no problem getting anywhere from Sakon Nakhon
  15. Been 9 yrs since, so far from current. Always enjoyed my visits. Most things walkable, good food, inexpensive Beer Lao ... what's not to like. Just get the VOA, too easy, or was. You'll need USD for VOA, exact change and photos, or use to need. Do NOT use any visa services at Nong Khai, as unnecessary & overpriced. They take THB/USD, usually, or can change a wee bit of money at border, then more at the bank if wanting. Use to be a bus into town at the border, not advertised very well, if not taking one of the intern'l buses from TH to downtown Vientiane. Plenty of touts offering rides into town.
  16. Living at PKK for almost 6 yrs now. Rarely saw any snakes. At the house for 3+ months, and 3rd snake on the property. Rather large Malayan Pit Viper. Didn't end well for the snake ... ????
  17. All depends and relative to one's self. I know if I returned, I'd need a lot more money and certainly wouldn't return to any place I've already lived. Left all of those for one reason or another, and no desire to go backwards. The world is only as crazy as the headlines you believe.
  18. Yea ... it's starting to remind me of all those high profit box bars, people are trying to unload. A few months before foreclosure ???? So profitable and so easy, I just want to give it away to someone ???? Who needs or wants all those millions.
  19. My daughter started, as many do, from zero, and doing quite nicely. Without a huge buy in of an established business, so no waiting for a larger ROI paying off that buy in, eating away at monthly profits.
  20. Import tax and RHD vehicles does limit things. Thankfully China has the advantage there.
  21. Unless a popular item, and can get at bulk discount ... most things are drop shipped. If not, then we're talking higher overhead w/warehouse & employees for S&H. No info ... No sale
  22. It's reassuring that PTT, the state owned oil provider, will be producing EVs & batteries for, from one of their wholly owned subsidiary, along with putting more CSs at the petrol plazas. That's a bit telling and all headed in the right direction.
  23. Strangely the EV, on the granny charging, draws less than the 3500w water heater ... 3.5 vs 2.3kW ????
  24. Contrary to earlier statement, you DO want to sell, just not to us on AN ????
  25. It's a headliner, not a whole lot more. "Look, we're saving the planet" While taking big $$$ from big oil/gas/coal, not to make it easy to put solar on every roof in the country. Simple solution to simple problems.
