  1. Actually, any modification, not done by the manufacturer of MB is illegal. Obviously tolerated and not enforced. I consider the MVA's high death count nothing more than suicides. Mostly scooter, many single vehicle, many no helmets. Laws and enforcement wouldn't help much, and be costly. Need a whole new 2nd shift to enforce just the helmet law.
  2. I thought it was great, and forgot it's a big rubber band. Laughed my a$$ off while bouncing up & down. I can't look over a 5th floor balcony, without feeling uneasy, so yea, got up there and stupidly looked over the edge and thought, W T F am I doing ? Then did a nice swan dive ... highly recommend, a great rush.
  3. I mull that idea around all the time, especially with pet, and lack of pet friendly hotels. But hotels are so cheap, relative, but I need my AC. If not for that, yea, I'd go that route, as did a lot of camping in USA.
  4. Not spending more than 600-700 for kg of salmon, so it's farm raised for me. Ain't no meat worth 2000+ a kg, and that on the cheap side for 'better' salmon. My taste buds aren't that particular.
  5. You do lose a bit, not so much in Thailand, when you drive off the lot. Only bought 1 new car / truck in USA, in 25 ish years, and that was for my work, as needing something dependable. Most others were 5-10 years, and usually kept till I killed them. One was 25 yrs old, 1950 Buick Special bought 1975. I've done most repairs, major, swap out motor, trans, rears. When they started putting all the anti pollution c r a p, started buying newer & better, plus had more money. When poor, you learn to be a mechanic fast or walk a lot. Here, on 4th new one in 20 years ... ???? Go figure, talk about being lazy. Won't even do an oil change.
  6. CODs, I just leave money under the scooter seat if not going to be here. No risk of theft if left in carport. If expensive I'll hang around, but very rare.
  7. Last thing on my list was bungee jumping, did that here, Phuket, inexpensive, over a lake, at 44 yrs old. Can't think of anything else want to do. Visit a couple places, but too lazy to just go the the airport and wait around for 3 ish hrs, let alone sit on a plane more than 2 hrs. So must not be too important. Traveled out, since worked for airlines, and made things easy, more importantly, cheap, or I probably would have never left continental USA.
  8. "American Shipper" ... bashing Chinese shipping ... big surprise. Past 2 years of ordering more than a few thing, nothing really delayed. Reminds me of USA Catfish Assoc putting out vid about Thai fishing. No conflict of issue there.
  9. Conflicting ... await CCTV. Maybe next time, they will pay he bill. "Eventually, a pair of Australian tourists spoke to Pattaya police and claimed that the victim had been chased by several security guards from the Tree Town complex who got into a physical altercation with the victim. The victim fell after the altercation, hitting his skull and causing bleeding and his injuries, according to the witnesses." "but the man was the aggressor and shoved them first. The guards claimed they only responded in self–defense, trying to calm the man down, which caused him to accidentally fall and damage his head."
  10. As long as USA keeps printing valueless $$$, no manipulation needed.
  11. FREEDOM Isn't it great. No oppression traffic police. Is that illegal, as the only type of taxi where we live. Then again, the side cart itself is illegal ???? Not sure MVAs count as 'national tragedy' As stated, it's a work in progress, and much better than previous decades.
  12. I sign in LAZ using laptop/Chrome. From bookmark bar: Click on LAZ icon, opens Click on sign in, sec. check comes up, ask to pick one, I ignore and Click on LAZ icon again in bookmark bar Click on sign in. LAZ opens
  13. If that's what you consider 'way down', then you are really going stress yourself out watching the USD - THB exchange rate. 30 satang ... hate to see your reaction when it's 3 baht in a month. It hit 45, first year I was here ???? and that actually down from a few years prior. Don't worry yourself, till it drops below 30. Thais like to keep around 32, so 31-33 is about normal.
  14. Don't care how 'green' that man is, not taking advice from someone I've never met. He says Go, but I don't see him looking to see if it's safe. and if red, and no traffic coming, I'm crossing ... IF ... no PoPO Box on the corner. Yea, I violate a law every now & than ... living on the edge baby.
  15. What do you consider way down ? Sun 33.32 ... Tues 33.56 ... now 33.28 1 Jan 2022 ... 33.19 18 Mar 2021 ... 30.69 Hope this downward trend continues through next year, might be down to 35.87 ???? 30.69 ... 18 Mar 2021 33.28 ... 17 Mar 2022 2.59 33.28 35.87 ... 17 Mar 2023
  16. Law or not, having the right of way or not, I think pedestrians need to learn how to cross the street, and take a lot of that responsibility themselves. I don't know how anyone, steps into the roadway, without first making sure, your butt ain't going to get run over. I've done some really stupid things in my life, but not looking, before crossing the street, isn't one of them. From 6 lane highway, to one way street, simply look both ways, then again before stepping in, then pay attention all the way across.
  17. Already cooked (poached) should be fine for couple days in frig. I've done it myself when extra, say 3 days, and goes in the microwave before eating. I like mine a little pink in the center, and still .. No prob, though usually not pink after nuked.
  18. usufruct is much like a lease, except it can't be cancelled, and the land (chanote which it is place on) can't be sold without the usefrunct first being removed / voided. Come in 2 flavor: Simple use of land & structures or use and allowed to modify land and or structure Term can be whatever specified, 10-20-30 yr or for life, if office allows. Quite the powerful document, and is registered the the land chanote. Wife found out how powerful this month with submitting plans for addition to our house build. Just a technicality, paperwork at orbator office, as addition was already put on, but not in the original blueprint submitted. Told the 'owner' / used wrong term, had to approve. She's like ... "I am the owner, name on chanote" No, he who is on the usufrunct has to approve, as he / me, now has control, since I'm documented to use / modify all and anything on the land. Screwed up part, and why I know that conversation took place, she asked me for copies of my PP and I had to sign off (she did) to submit with paperwork. Which I was not in the office when submitted. Reality of Thailand, any 3 people can steal any of your assets, with a simply POA. I had one with my 1st wife, giving me all Power of Attorney in reference to land & house we owned, in her name. Basically, I could sign her signature to anything, which I did, when I sold the house. And the kicker, she signed 3 POA, 1 filled out, 2 blank, JIC ???? They had to be notarized, which is simply 2 people, verifying she signed the POA. Neither 1 of those 2 people know her, or were there when she signed, though I did make a video, to protect myself. So they could see her signing, if they wanted. They didn't, just worked at the RE office I used, and boss said, come here, sign this, and they did. Notarized ???? Took and submitted the 'filled out' one to land office when selling land/house, so you have 3 farangs there, myself/buyer & Thai wife/RE agent, a farang. Wouldn't accept the POA, 'worded wrong', so we simply asked, what do you want it to say. Outside, return, now filled in, sale done.
  19. That's almost worth 500 by itself ... ???? Though most attendees, inclusive, were on phones the whole time, some even left, got a munch, and returned to get the license.????
  20. Did you have to watch the vid ? You didn't need her to 'fix' anything, as I've done the same, let my licenses expire for more than a few months once. No prob renewing.
  21. Before buying that ticket, check the fine print: Maybe need a recent C19 test to enter, as they have for the 'KiteSurfing' event @ Pranburi next week, the 26th. Simply being vaccinated isn't enough for many things. From kitesurfing page: "COVID-19 screening measures will be in place at the event, with those attending required to show a negative ATK test result before entering." NO THANKS .. besides, seen K G a couple times already ????
  22. Try existing without it ... ... it provides life
  23. US Dept of Energy ... seriously, think you give them a bit more credit than they deserve. USA holds more oil reserve than anyone, and yet, they import oil. Energy grid is not running on solar, wind, hydro ... and these are intelligent people. Simple math, MG ZS EV cost ฿400k more than ZS ICE 8 yr / 180k kms warranty on battery, and still have 80% capacity in 8 yrs EV - 180k kms / 400 kms X ฿250 = ฿112,500 ICE - 180k kms / 11 kpl X ฿30 = ฿490,909 EV - ฿9000 est maintenance (MG site) EV - no mandatory oil changes every 10k-18 X ฿2k = ฿36k EV - no tune-up, no cam belt change = ฿100k (conservative) EV - ฿112,500 + 9k + 400k = ฿521,500 ICE - ฿491k + 36k + 100k = ฿627k (฿105.5k) Conclusion - EV cheaper to buy & own first 8 yrs. Next 8 yrs EV cost 400 kms @ ฿250 Next 8 yrs ICE cost 400 kms @ ฿1090 = 4 times as much just to 'fuel' + oil changes + tune ups / belt changes. Leave the investing argument out of it, as quite silly.
  24. Imagine trying to exist, exercising morality in every decision. Don't think we would be living in Thailand. COL inexpensive here, sort of, due to very low salaries. Do I think it's morally right for people to get paid ฿330 a day ... no. Do I want them to get paid ฿1000 a day ... after my house is done .... ???? 3 generations in the same house just isn't right, but do I want to pay more than ฿90 baht for my very filling meal of Khao Soi w/fried pork filet, sitting in AC comfort ... no. ฿1800 baht for oil change, labor free is bad enough. Do I want to pay another ฿1-2k more for labor, or ฿5k labor for a tune up. Holy Buddha, I'd have to start doing them myself. Cost $50-100 / hr USD just to look at your car at a dealer in the USA. China & most Asian countries with low salaries, and it's a rough life, living under tyranny, even more so than USA, UK, EU & OZ ... do I still order Chinese online or buy in shop ... hell yea. Wife buys material for my clothes, probably weaved in sweatshops w/ child labor ... oh well, glad I can't see them from here. Hey, I was working when I was 12 yrs old, builds character. Morality ... something humanity has lacked since the beginning of life. Same folks pushing the 'morality' are the same folks that created the world's problems. Ukraine & Russia has sold more arms that have killed 100 to 1000 times more people, than they are now killing each other with. Som naa na
