Someone just murdered a family friend in Chiang Mai
Adumbration replied to connda's topic in Chiang Mai
You should check that the guy is in custody before you go to Chang Mai. There is a risk he also knows your wife and why would you expose her to that risk. This first time someone I knew here was murdered it was a very difficult time. The second and then third times were a little less harrowing. -
Whatever dude.... The OP just wants a quick and easy connection to the internet. He is not after heart surgery.

None. And the political naievity of most Australians is sickening. The property market will crash the moment conflict kicks off in the the South China Sea and Australia losses 70% of its export markets overnight. And let us not forget to mention the bankrupt Australian educational facilities when they are forced to send all the SEA students back home.

How do you gauge failure? If doing nothing for the last two decades other that travel, fish, dive, surf, and have sex with asian girls then I am an abject failure.

@digbeth is entirely correct. Just get a unlimited sim (12 month True sim 6mbps unlimited is 1270 baht on Shopee). And put it in the the second sim card slot on your phone. Done. If you are in a regional area you might want buy a waterproof sim router you can stick outside on a waterpipe pole to improve reception. They are about 1500 baht on Shopee. So @digbeth cost estimation of 3,000 baht all up is bang on (including 300 odd baht to buy a six meter length of water pipe) Its hilarious to see @NextG posting with such didacticism given he has no clue what he is talking about. Why is he questioning that you can buy an unlimited sim for around 1000 baht. And why does he think paying even 200 baht a month for throttled data is cheaper than getting unlimited for 12 months for 1200 baht. https://shopee.co.th/TRUE-ซิมเทพทรู-เลือกเบอร์-Sim-6Mbps-ซิม-ทรู-เทพ-Simเทพ-TRUE-ใช้ได้ไม่อั้น-1-ปี-ไม่ลดสปีด-4G-unlimited-6mb-sim-net-true-i.32852149.2638373763?sp_atk=e2702433-10c7-4a7b-9f59-8f9a73e33dea&xptdk=e2702433-10c7-4a7b-9f59-8f9a73e33dea

Ok....But was the "someone" already in a relationship with your Ex before you impregnated her with the four kids.

No that is mostly because they believe they will use less petrol with the lights turned off.

How to sell my motorbike and transfer registration
Adumbration replied to Saigon's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Disregard anything you were told at the DLT in Phuket. They are the most corrupt of any office in Thailand. -
Unlimited one year sim card in your second sim card slot and tether your phone via USB or hotspot. Ask the people in your area which phone company they get the best reception on. If you are near any regional centre or city just go with True because they have the cheapest unlimited sims.

More reports of mysterious deaths from possible cyanide poisoning
Adumbration replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Did the autopsy on TangMoo check for Cyanide? -
I seldom use the word "tool" as an insult for people who claim to speak the Thai language well. I mostly use it to describe expat cuckolds taking care of someone else's children.

Tangmo case: mother demands 179 million in compensation
Adumbration replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Both you and @bangkokbarry have been here a long time and should know better. Justice in Thailand equates to money. Pure and simple. The higher the death price paid, the more just the outcome is in the eyes of the public. The Thai HiSos mixed up in the cluster <deleted> will never do a day in jail. It is all about money here, always has been and always will be. And...you are both overlooking the issue of face. Of course the Mother will request a ridiculously high amount. That is to save face for both her and her dead daughter. You see the same mindset at work when Thai set a ridiculously high sales price on a mediocre property. It is all about money here, always has been and always will be. -

Selling a house

Kaidee has a property section and is very popular with Thais. -
The brother of my ex in Udon Thani finished his studies as a doctor and commenced work. Same problem. He got his mother and his aunty (mother's sister) to borrow money against their chanotes so that he could buy a car, rent a place in town, and to tide him over until the first (lump sum) payday arrived. Once he had the car and a place of his own a new girlfriend suddenly appeared on the scene. When he received his first big pay check he failed to pay back Mum and Aunty. Apparently he had spent all of the money on the new GF. Months later he was fired from his job for not showing up for work and the new car was eventually repossessed, the GF moved on, and both Mum and Aunty lost their houses to the loan shark. This happened many years ago and it was my first big heads up regarding the selfishness and irresponsible nature of Thai men.

Australian Dollar is collapsing
Adumbration replied to Adumbration's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Collapse well and truly back on track today. If the criminals at the RBA do not raise the cash rate next week the AUD is done for. -
Does your Thai partner know much about history outside of Thailand?
Adumbration replied to sharksy's topic in General Topics
Back home I used to rent a spare room to International students and on occasion young professionals. I had a young accountant staying with me. He was a lovely guy and is still a good friend. He brought his new girlfriend home one night (also young accountant) and I offered to make them dinner. I cooked them an asian meal. While I was preparing dinner I heard the young girl ask her boyfriend if they make rice in the same factory as spaghetti. -
Elephant moves fallen tree blocking road in Thailand
Adumbration replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Journalists, teachers, lawyers, paralegals, copywriters, proofreaders, architects, designers, graphic artists, scriptwriters will all be replaced by AI. But no matter how smart AI is it will never replace an elephant. -
Thanks for posting your update. It is sad to see that you have lost 245,000 dollars in just two years. I see that one year term deposits with KiwiBank are currently paying 5.75% pa. So if you had that 245K invested you would be yielding a (risk free) 14,000 dollar income. With respect, your 41% loss calculation does not factor in inflation. If we take a CPI index figure of 7% for the last two years into account, then your actual loss is circa 55%. Perhaps one good thing is that the NZ government has decided to take its medicine up front, and so is far less likely to be caught off guard by stagflation. Unlike the criminals at the RBA who have pivoted already with a pause this month. They are entirely retarded if they think they can engineer a soft landing for Australian property. And with their current idiotic strategy both the Australian dollar and Australian residential property is doomed.

Suggestions for a "Cheap Charlie" Smart Phone
Adumbration replied to connda's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Me too. I just replaced the battery in mine 5000mah for 213 baht (from Shopee). Working fine now. I also bought a new robot case and 9D glass screen saver for 85 baht (for both) including delivery (again from Shopee). And yes runs Android 10. The C3 is now an old model but you should try the Realme C30s for 2980 baht. It runs Android 12 and has 6.5 screen, Ram2+32, SD slot expandable up to 1TB, dual sim and 5000mah battery: https://shopee.co.th/ใหม่!-Realme-C30S-(RAM2-32)-หน้าจอ-6.5-แบต-5000mAh-เครื่องประกันศูนย์-1-ปี-i.51883840.23305320438?sp_atk=2b055131-6983-4123-bd1e-817ea4d3f7e2&xptdk=2b055131-6983-4123-bd1e-817ea4d3f7e2 -
Best Starting Salary for University grads
Adumbration replied to EVENKEEL's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The huge hurdle for new graduates to overcome is the corrupt and patronage based work environment in Thailand. Does not matter how smart or ambitious you are if you are not connected you will just not get a break. This is why there are lots of graduates working at 7-11. One of my previous girlfriends has a degree in law from Chula. She is from a dirt poor family down south but she was very bright and very lucky because she had a kind teacher in high school that helped her to get a scholarship. When I met her she was selling pillows in the basement of Central plaza in Phuket on 12K a month and living in a dingy little 1K5 baht apartment with cracked floor tiles and a massive ant problem. That was the only job she could get. She applied for lots of government positions and the RTP but did not have the money to pay the requested bribes. We were together for a number of years and I helped her to improve her English and introduced her to several new career opportunities. She is now the GM of a large business in Phuket and a year or so ago purchased herself a home for 2.7 million.
