Russian mafia-style ‘gangs’ causing concerns for Phuket businesses
Adumbration replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Most depressing thing about that article is that it informs that the Russian biter and her boyfriend were allowed to escape to Malaysia because of RTP incompetence. -
Russian mafia-style ‘gangs’ causing concerns for Phuket businesses
Adumbration replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
"Business owners around the Bangla Road walking street are also complaining about the increase in Russian ‘prostitutes’ that have infiltrated the area and causing problems for the local sex industry." Hang on....Prayuth has told us that there is no sex industry in Thailand. Someone must be telling lies. -
Russian mafia-style ‘gangs’ causing concerns for Phuket businesses
Adumbration replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
If you refer to my post history you will see that I predicted, months ago, all of the issues raised in this article. I lived in Phuket more than a decade ago before the collapse of the ruble when Russians were thick on the ground. ATM skimming, card fraud, illegal taxi runs, Russian prostitution and reletting property were all major problems back then. But this time around these problems will be much much worse because these new Russians are refugees and not tourists and their short term visas and meagre savings will soon expire. I am guessing that the language schools in Phuket, Krabi and Patts that offer one year ED visas are now doing a roaring trade. -
Or you could fire off an email to MR Beast and get it done for free:

D day is just a few months away when their visa extensions are all spent as well as their meagre savings. It will then suddenly dawn on the TAT that refugees are not properly classified as tourists. At least they can do taxi runs to Phuket airport in their rental cars to make ends meet.

cheapest way to call internationally from AIS mobile
Adumbration replied to persimmon's topic in IT and Computers
I have been using skype for decades now. It got really clunky there for several years, but the lite version of their app now works pretty trouble free on my Android phone. Rates are very cheap. -
Police will do absolutely nothing because no chance of a windfall. Try here: https://www.consumersinternational.org/members/members/office-of-the-consumer-protection-board-of-thailand/ The office in Phuket helped me with a number of case more than a decade ago in Phuket. However might now be a corrupt waste of time since the Junta took control.

Anyone know of a local company who might insure for theft of 1984 Jeep?
Adumbration replied to rabiedabruce's topic in Phuket
I have a restored 1986 model car. Stock restoration with no modifications. I have it insured with AXA and I have dealt with the Phuket office for over 14 years with no issues. -
Remove your rings or else this could happen!

When I was an apprentice one of the tradesmen I was working with was changing the fuse tube on some Hazemeyer HV switch gear at a substation we were doing maintenance at. He had a gold chain around his neck that swung out made contact with the bus. He died instantly, and in front of me and several other workers. I have never worn any jewelry including watches my entire life. -
Infamous British Drug Fugitive Arrested in Bangkok, Thailand

So the NCA and the RTP are taking all the credit and posing for the photo shoots. But it would appear it was not their efforts that tracked Richard down. The reality is that he was just ratted on by some member of the public: “We have been supported by the public, who responded to the media and Crimewatch appeals to provide intelligence, all of which has ultimately led to his capture.” -

Don't forget to mention corrupt immigration officers and payment under the table visa options. I was chatting with Richard several months back at a friend's birthday party in Bangkok. He was adamant that it was the food and temples that persuaded him to chose Thailand as his preferred hideout location. -
Infamous British Drug Fugitive Arrested in Bangkok, Thailand

This guy looks relaxed, fit and well for his age. Especially given his disability and the fact he is an alleged International criminal on the run. He stands as an quintessential example that Thailand is a great desitination for middle aged men. I wish him well in the pending appeal against his charges. I wonder how the proceeds from the sale of his car and other assets will be distributed among the RTP? -
Things are just getting starting. During the next three months in Australia 40% of all mortgages are about to reset from 2-3% covid lows to 7-8%. After a CPI print near 10% last week the RBA should be raising interest rates at least .75 points at its meeting next Tuesday. But they will not because it would burst the residential property bubble well and truly. A .25 point raise is forecast. But I entirely expect Lowe and his fellow criminals at the RBA to not raise at all. I have posted this many times already. There is not a single time in recorded economic history were inflation was brought under control without first raising the cash rate to AT LEAST the CPI print. That means that the cash rate in Australia should currently be 10%. The common view in the MSM is that inflation will abate later this year and then central banks will begin cutting rates. For the record, my opinion is that inflation will cool a little moving into the end of the year but then it will resurge in 2024 and will remain high and for longer than most commentators, economists and politicians currently expect.

As a broke Uni student I was grateful if I had mouldy buds to smoke. I am pretty sure nowadays if I did bucket bongs in the laundry sink it would end me.
