  1. Is there way to vote aboard w/o giving information OP has shown?
  2. Bang Saray beach is always quiet, clean and has many sea food restaurant near by next to the pier where fish etc arrives. Market is good too. Plenty of inexpensive good food.
  3. Thailand has the best food in the world - I miss nothing from the US.
  4. Today
  5. The Real reason to close; "Around that same time, an urban legend about the chain gained popularity, having people believe that Church’s was owned by the KKK. On a related note, there was also a rumor that Church’s used ingredients that made Black men infertile."
  6. Have you seen "Patong Girl"? I liked it. A real Thailand love story w twist... https://www.imdb.com/video/vi2059321113/?playlistId=tt2974502&ref_=tt_pr_ov_vi
  7. I agree! The reason is sewage pipes are under it and they need to have easy access. Non local walks in Thailand!
  8. PC and Win11 - Thanks for trying to solve this strange new thing... - I'm trying to keep up
  9. Google is playing games too. Yahoo same recently. That's why I switched to Swiss Proton mail. So far very good and never problem to log in.
  10. Thanks! That last leg is 12h. Too long. I can't take it... That's why I fly w 2 or 3 stops.
  11. May I ask how do you fly there? I fly via Tokio or Osaka, starting from BKK or Saigon. Then to LAX, SFO or LAS.
  12. Can't say it's very exiting but my main reason is to escape harsh winter. The second is to try to find a lady for life... I walk along the shore every day ones or twice, 6 to 10km daily, starting 4-5am. Same in the evening 6 to 8pm. I stop to talk to fishermen, street food ladies and interesting bums... I've ordered EPL, F1, MotoGp etc so I watch them all. Ladies keep me busy too. On line dating is full time work! I tried Gran Canaria, Spain, but it's so damn expensive! Thailand, and specially Vietnam where I spend more and more time, are by far the best places to be snow bird.
  13. Pattaya is a big area. I stay at Jomtien and rarely go to "the other Porno-Pattaya". Only to Big-C and similar stores. During about 7 years, 2-4 months at time, I never have seen any fights etc on Jomtien. I don't say there isn't but I don't stay late at night, no bars or night life. To me it's 1000x safer than Los Angeles! Or any big/medium city in the States.
  14. BACK arrow, left up
  15. Good choice - 3 hospitals within 15 min :-) Also, 2 parks to walk.
  16. newnative, When I was living in Lake Maprachan we never got to Central Bic-C or Jomtien in less than an hour in traffic. One way. Traffic sucks all the time! HiWay was slower than surface "Porn Rd".... Otherwise you know well Pattaya. You also have better nerves than me.
  17. EU, US and other civilized world airports has toilets where you can safely drink or re-fill from facets...
  18. At BKK it's free next to Pattaya bus ticket sales. Upper level, past passport check, it's free next to toilets. Kind of hidden. Ask cleaning ladies, they know. I always bring empty bottle and fill up there.
  19. Old EU rules; "The U.K. announced in 2022 that by August 2024, all U.K. airports would be using 3D scanners allowing security to check the contents of all carry-on bags without the need to limit the amount of liquids taken onboard a plane (this would now be up to 2 litres), nor the need to take containers out of luggage and pass them separately through security." As soon as airports switched to that, and spent millions of $ for scanners, they came with a new one; "Jun 17, 2024 — Passengers are now limited to taking a maximum of one litre of liquids through security in containers no larger than 100 ml each." - some airlines/airport allow 2 liters in 100ml containers
  20. OP - maybe best for you and your lady is to use Vin Pearl company? Nha Trang has Disneyland type fantasy island. She may like it? Plus very nice hotels for reasonable price. Check it out; https://vinpearl.com/en/nha-trang
  21. That's a good choice; $ 381 / nite... I stayed at Eden Plaza close to airport. Nice looking huge place but was worn out dump. And empty, only 6 guests on breakfast which was cold, old food and poor selection. Happily they made fresh omelets and they were good. But for $ 22/nite who cares? I didn't. The best places to exchange are jewerly/gold stores. SuperRich at BKK, lowest floor, is better than Vn hotels and airport. Change $ 100 there and rest in Vn. PS. I never went the beach. It's far away from the city. The beach is like any tourist area. I like to mix with regular people and see how they live. One think I didn't like to see was cops were pulling over many young people on motobikes with gf and taking bikes away. That happened in rich and trendy area next to Dragon Bridge. I'm not sure why but looked like they didn't like trendy western looking kids....
  22. Think positives - just changing $50 you are a millionaire! PS. One strange thing; SuperRich at BKK only changes THB. No foreign. May be a law to milk more farangs?
  23. My choice too: "Hong Kong's Mandarin Oriental". Not to stay but go to see nice limousines! In '70 they had 20+ Mercedes 600 Pullmans (like Pope had) at front. Then they down graded to Rolls Royces... Now MB again; "About Mercedes-Maybach S600 For over 97 years, Mercedes-Maybach’s factory takes the leading position of sumptuous limos. This luxury limo is not just a stretched S-class with a Maybach badge—it’s far more lavish than that ordinary sedan. A 530-hp, 6.0-litre twin-turbo V-12 provides effortless motivation while passengers enjoy hot-stone massage and leather recliners. Touted as the world’s quietest car and with a standard Burmester audio system, the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 is a rolling concert hall as well. And forget that new-car smell—the air-filtration system infuses the cabin with the Maybach’s own signature fragrance."
  24. There's many next to Pullman Hotel in downtown. I don't remember the name but all shops were pro and not pushy. I don't know worldwide prices but to me they were -50% of EU prices, or more, because all is 23 carat. In EU only 10, 14 and 18. I bought beautiful hanging ear pieces for $ 320 to my gf. First she didn't want them "They are not for farmer girls" but the shop girls were with me and they convinced her "they are perfect for you". Later she loved them and was very proud to wear and show off to her friends. It was the first jewerly she even had.
  25. ...and here's more: https://abcnews.go.com/Health/trumps-chinese-virus-tweet-helped-lead-rise-racist/story?id=76530148 https://www.healthaffairs.org/content/forefront/covid-19-has-driven-racism-and-violence-against-asian-americans-perspectives-12 "This was a time when President Donald Trump regularly and directly blamed China for spreading COVID-19."
