  1. Should be worded as "a stay that lasts up to...", not "stays that last up to..." "can now be issued five-year visas for stays that last up to 180 days, which can be extended for another 180 days"
  2. I used the pool almost daily when I first moved in. I began getting more concerned about the water as time went on. This was due to seeing more people in the water over time. I started getting the feeling people were peeing in the water, or at a minimum the water was coming into contact with people's arses and genital area. My pool is pretty small though so that's part of it. Sounds dumb, but I wish I had a private pool sometimes. Maybe I'm just paranoid, other people don't seem to care about these things. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  3. You end up just sitting in a condo as you get older. If you're low on money it's a small box condo like Nirun or View Talay. Entertainment is the corner bar where they serve you beer.
  4. It's only good for 6 months a year though. It says the full year extension can only be used once. I don't think just bouncing in and out will work for more time.
  5. Perhaps you learned your lesson early, before you were too old... Good motivation to save up much gold and avoid a retirement of sin and vice... Greener pastures await you, both sober and relaxing, along with champagne wishes & caviar dreams... On private flights to fantasy island coming your way, in old age....
  6. Or become very expensive, creating ever longer breaks at the bar.
  7. In pattaya that usually involves hookers. They aren't here for the gym or temples.
  8. I had a weird encounter on the Big C escaltors recently. I could tell it was a guy and his daughter, but they were thinking that I thought they were a couple because they gave me a weird look. It's uncomfortable both ways, especially in Pattaya.
  9. I used to say it was people driving around in circles. It's even worse in Vietnam. Where are all those people going? Who knows. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. A bunch of bars, interesting? Nope, they are all the same. What the place needs is some high culture, more parks, libraries, museums, opera...
  11. It's just weird in Thailand because if they are not talking or interacting I can't tell if it's a guy and his daughter.
  12. Unless you spend your savings then they change the rules on the pension, like maybe requiring you to be in country a certain amount of days or things like that.
  13. I don't see anything listed yet. will keep watching: https://thaiconsulatela.thaiembassy.org/en/page/visa-types-requirments
  14. I must exude celebrity status since I'm being moved to a more conspicious table. Those of you who are never moved are pleebs.
  15. It's different for each person. My activities will not satisfy you. You need to find activities that are special to you alone. Good luck.
  16. Being in pattaya is not going to stop you from needing an old folks home. You would just end up in the view talay room with no help, or in a similar old folks home. People are in care facilities because they are too old to care for themselves.
  17. yes it is that easy with the money. i need to get out of this hell hole to somewhere with clean water and classy people. i will send you a report when that happens.
  18. Finances probably. I would be in the south of france right now.
  19. Yes, but I will be moaning about much more important & greater things.
  20. not going to that rathole. will go back to cambodia first.
  21. He has to live around them and see them, so what other people do matters. We are not 100% independent of our environment.
  22. You probably should have stayed in Chiang Mai, Phuket or Bangkok. When you are around a lot of old retired people, it makes you old. I can feel it when I change locations and it's a primary reason why I'm moving out of Pattaya next month. I feel much older after living in Pattaya for a year. When I goto Bangkok I feel young and full of life again. I felt the drain when I was in Jomtien right away, but it's really all of Pattaya. Something about the place sucks my energy away. Could be needy people, broke people, etc. I call it "psychic vampirism".
  23. I'm more unsatisfied, then bored. I think a lot of the problem in both cases boils down to social relationships. For example, I could bike or swim in both places, but if I don't connect well with those around me, even if it's a solo activity, the activity can become slightly unsatisfying in a way. Maybe the activity the Op likes becomes boring in Thailand because nobody else is interested in it here, or it just feels off and strange. like being around overweight guys drinking all the time then feeling unmotivated working out later in an empty gym. Whereas, if he was on Venice Beach he would be pumped to work out.
