How to lower electric usage to reduce electric bill?
JimTripper replied to RolandRat's topic in General Topics
get a fan -
Get a good pair of combat boots or doc martens. I have a fear of getting bitten on the foot by a rat. It comes from being around people wearing flip flops and sandals all the time.

If I cross at a red pedestrian light and someone gets into an accident in the intersection am I liable for damages? Or, even just crossing anywhere there's not a pedestrian crossing? The major intersection near me just had large pedestrian walkways painted and there is a police box right there. Feels like if I'm not in that area I could be at fault. Also, there are people continually crossing against the light.

Feeling guilty after freeloaders

Usually if the host invites someone they will add an "on me" or "on the house" during the invite. Just like what would happen at a classy bar or casino with a complimentary drink. If not, then a mention of a "cover" or "cover charge" is given. This lets people know what to expect in terms of payment. Just letting people arrive or issuing random invites assumes the host is paying by default. For one thing, the guests may not have the means to pay on them or the event may be out of their budget. So asking for payment at the end of the night is taboo. The Op should have set expectations at the table, maybe with the server there, as the strange guests arrived. Or a hushed whisper to the server of "seperate bills". No need to be coy about it. -
what's going on here is that you moved to a tropical climate and want to sleep in the north pole. a/c on at 23 all night while you sleep and tv 6 hrs a day will run it up that much. all the rest, computer etc, is hogwash.

Touchy Subject... Something we don't want to think about...
JimTripper replied to AcuDoc's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Maybe I mis-phrased. More like needing to 'hold on' in some way. Everyone's different though, it may not apply to you. The over concern with wills and disposition of assets to whom, trying to cover every possible contingency, etc is also another sign of this problem. -

Blunt post (sorry). The "leaving the house to people" stuff is probably about you not wanting to die or get old. Often the property needs to be sold as you get older anyhow if you need assisted living or more care. Whatever is left gets passed on anyway so why does it need to be a house? Are you trying to lock up the funds somehow so you don't spend savings down? That does not work, you end up having to sell off assets. -
I don't think the Op was 'getting off'. Even leaning that way many guys won't risk that on a taxi motorbike. It's also difficult to do one handed while holding on to the back of the bike, though I guess it's possible to do without the driver seeing you as long as you are not bouncing around too much.

Why isn't Philippines the upcoming
JimTripper replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Philippines is a step down. The people you hear that like the place are the typical expats I meet in many grungy locations who think they are living in paradise for one reason or another. -
Nightmare situation. Were they taken away in the ambulance? Better hope not. The hospital gets someone in like that and they bill for everything possible with check ups, tests, etc.

What would you do with that scam?

Don't they teach number blocking in 1st grade now? -
It may seem Ok because you don't know what living in a nice place feels like. Does that make it Ok? Will need to get back to you on that 🤷🏻♂️.

Reminds me of the soriee my neighbor had in chiang mai. He invited all his friends then acted like I was a co-host and needed to go half on expenses. Your friends, not mine, I told him. He also bought all the goods on his own without clearance from me, so it's on him. The fact that I lived next door had nothing to do with it. There's a lot of people around that try to mooch like this. It's a lack of boundries where they in fact genuinely believe you owe them something. -
The "tropical climate" here sucks. I'm sweating all day and most of the time it's too hot to do much during the day. Find a "temperate climate" next time, not too cold or too hot.

I live in a condo building and there are several motorbike guys (the same guys) that camp out near the driveway all the time. They just sit there on these small plastic chairs for hours staring at the condo complex waiting for some foreigner to walk out. Most of the time people are headed to the 7-11 which makes it even worse, as all expectations for a fare are dashed. There's not much foot traffic. Any movement is met with a clap or other odd gesture to get attention. What an awful job! Makes me wonder if one of these guys is going to snap one day, get violent, or something similar. I would go nuts with just a blank like this. At least a security gig has rounds to do and other tasks. What do these motorbike guys typically make in a day?
-
The people in Pattaya are pretty much "shooting blanks" though. It does not benefit our species much. 🤣

That's a common misconception. Alpha's rarely fight, except in rare instances where their dominance is being challenged. This typically happens as they get older and a younger male challenges them for the preferred females. Also, there are very few foreigner alpha's in thailand. Those guys you see 'ringing the bell' or walking around with a young woman are not alpha. It's the opposite of what you may be thinking.
-
Only if you are a loser. Agreed. In the animal kingdom having sex with a dominant male is the reward, though you should not have to say so or ask. It's not about gifts or enjoyment, it's about passing on genes with someone who can potentially provide for and protect offspring (not a loser). One of the things that makes a male dominant or alpha is the ability to treat members of the tribe equally. They tend to shun favoritism and thus limit division within the tribe. The lack of division enables them to stay on top longer because the members are content.

The problem with your technique is that time is money. You have not really received a true price or a discount. You paid for it with time and probably aggravation.
-
That's disgusting.

That makes sense if the women don't like sex. Isn't that kind of unusual?

The ridiculous amount of Public Holiday's in Thailand
JimTripper replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yep, it also seems like they are often also informally extended. Start early or end late by a couple days. I grew tired of the noise/music. -
Sounds like losers guys too me. Not everyone is down and out. So the guys in the Uk getting refused are older losers, not successful well off guys. No mystery there. Also makes sense that a move to thailand gives them a leg up, more money, white skin, whatever. Point being, if your a loser anywhere sex will be scarce and women will witheld. It's not natural for a loser to support children well in the animal kingdom. The problem being loser Uk guys complaining about themselves basically. Then blaming a response to their condition on others.
