  1. 56 baht is not that bad. Same as a coffee at many places.
  2. In & out branding would get diluted with foreign country franchises. Part of what makes it special is the pure american ordering and customer service vibe that can't be learned by foreign employees no matter how well you train them.
  3. Because they don't want outsiders in there. There have been many documentaries about Thai prisons. They were only allowed to film people out in the pretty courtyard with flowers, or in spots that were not reflective of true conditions there.
  4. The same reason they only allow pretty courtyards and such in any documentary. It looks better.
  5. Visits are likely discouraged. Bad PR.
  6. True. The strange thing is that they are not that desirable to me on the 100 baht rack.
  7. It feels worse in Thailand when that happens because there is a myth that Thai's are supposed to be smiling and nice. Go to other big cities and you don't get nice either. Try New York City. Is the cabbie apologizing or saying I'm sorry there? No. Are receptionists being friendly all the time? No.
  8. Not every band should make it big. Many times the music is great, but it only caters to a small audience. They are meant to be small and not sell many albums.
  9. I don't like sitting inside. For me, an interesting Bangkok Bar needs to have a patio or outdoor seating area.
  10. So you sit at home to stay cool? What do you do there, watch TV?
  11. I prefer something more temperate, not too hot or cold.
  12. Where did to hear that from? Not in my opinion. I used to work in dry above 35c conditions. We had industrial fans blowing the whole time. Sweating in a humid environment would make it much easier then that to cool off. The body is constantly releasing moisture through the skin in hot conditions. You need that air flow to evaporate the moisture on your skin which cools the body.
  13. I hear there are a lot of expats living there. What do they do if there's nothing going on? Just sit at home??
  14. I think that's the answer about Thai's often acting uncomfortable when I'm at a self serve laundromat. I often wondered about that. They always step in and want to do it for me, even strangers. It's because I'm not having it done for me (I'm not paying someone to do it). The slightest hint of productivity or self-reliance in foreigners makes some Thai's uncomfortable.

    Disgusted

Seems like Thai's always do these kinds of projects. It starts out as overkill, over the top, built in a day type thing. They get really excited about it then it does not work out, nobody shows up, makes no money, etc. Then they quickly get frustrated, leave to save face and try somewhere else before it can develop any sort of loyal customer base and actually be successful. Supports my theory of impatience & rushing.
  16. I don't think there is one. Case by case basis.
  17. If you have another leg up, I don't see it.
  18. Why did you prefer the 30's?

I live at the Euro Condominium right next to this lot. They bulldozed it and set up a stage. The music is rock concert loud. I have free Vip balcony seats to every performance. Glad I don't work nights or need to talk on the phone! Have been thinking about getting Bj's on the balcony during shows. Will let you know how the groupies work out.
  20. How is it more boring then Pattaya if you are not a bar or club person? How are the expats there, social or keep to themselves? or more conservative? Are the Thai's there friendlier then Pattaya? Did you move because you were bored? Anything else you can offer? Considering moving there. I don't like Pattaya much with all the bars and drinking.
  21. Just for a holiday? I was thinking of moving there 🤔
  22. Not really, but it could happen anywhere. Depends on where the machine is located. More likely to be clean filters at drinking water delivery facilities, bottled store brands, etc. Next come water machines, those near condo's preferred over just streetside machines. The idea is that juristic may be watching the maintenance schedule. I think the machines are independently owned, kind of like a gumball machine route. The more likely the place is to need money the less likely the filters are to be changed as much, as a rule of thumb. I have never seen a label on a machine indicating the filter change date. Anyone know if this is listed on the outside of the machine anywhere?
  23. Thai's like crowds and clutter. They don't view it as a negative. Same with noise.
  24. The skin picking or hair pulling typically involves some sort of self soothing. It reduces mental stress and anxiety. An irregularity in a hair or skin surface is picked off, often played with or eaten, which produces a feeling of something being put right or an imperfection removed, and a mental release follows. It's extremely difficult to stop on your own for an extended period of time. Some patients can overcome the specific behavior, but it reappears in other areas, like picking in another body location, or just anything similar really. Look at the situation you are in when the behavior occurs. Where are you or what are you doing? Alone on a Saturday night, in traffic, whatever. Therein lies a clue to where the anxiety or unease is coming from that needs to be soothed by picking. Write a picking journal with times and locations. You will eventually see a pattern. From there you just keep looking deeper into what's making you need to feel soothed in that situation. Do you feel not competent enough or imperfect in crowds, on a date, while driving? What are you reading about or watching on TV while you pick? Does it remind you of your childhood, problems with family growing up? Your mother, or father? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Then you start taking other actions or mastering skills that make you feel Ok in those situations, and the need to pick should weaken.
  25. Refers to waiting to die at the food court (see God). Feels more like purgatory (you can never leave, unless you die waiting) & you can find God in the most unlikely of places (if you wait long enough).
