  1. What's the diffrrence between an apartment block & a condo?
  2. The trek from Nirun to Big C is well known. Old guys shuffling back & forth to eat at the food court in Big C. Also, carrying groceries back to nirun to the small rooms.
  3. They can feel out the rider. If you seem weak they go rogue. They could also just be having a bad day. It also helps if the mahout does not have a fag. Ask my buddy Ostrich about that one, he never has a fag because it adds to the air pollution up there.
  4. There's also Centerpoint right next to the Euro and also Navin there right behind Big C.
  5. I mean the central area in general which is very walkable. The area near pattaya klang and big c has many condos with everything you need within walking distance. Lots of quality older condo's around with large rooms, for example PKCP Tower. The problem for me is that although there are conviences around, I don't like the central area that much otherwise and like the beach area a bit better. Old story really, you can't have everything.
  6. Yes, I know. I almost rented at 5D. I chose center instead because I don't want to walk that far to eateries each time. I'm also near the Big C so don't have issues getting anything I need easily and quickly.
  7. Are you going to get a motorbike? If that small incline bothers you you may have difficulty walking around that area in general, even though it's flat. Make sure you walk around the area with daily needs in mind.
  8. Upon further analysis it seems to be specific to certain people, not doormen/security in general. So my issue is with people who don't do security/lobby well, not just anybody. It could very well be me staring at them also, I don't know who is doing it first, we are both looking. I looked back at places that really know what they are doing and it was not an issue. So for other readers it may be helpful to pop into a place you are renting or buying during the day and night to see if you're comfortable with the vibe. Some people call it the 'milieu'. As for the place I'm at now, putting on my sunglasses a bit early helps a lot and makes a huge difference. I now know why rockstars wear sunglasses all the time, it's not just for the sun!
  9. The problem is when someone looks for a mistake that closely a mistake can always be found.
  10. My metal ones they know they are there before they even land. They can see them. I don't think the rubber ones would work, they would probably just land on them. They metal ones do work. I have not seen a pigeon get injured on them so far, although some try to land occasionally it is very rare. When they do they just hover and fly off right away.
  11. You're being too picky. This is near Los Angeles. Stop complaining.
  12. A lot of guys these days have female genitalia.
  13. It's people looking for money. Most of the Thai's you will come into contact with are broke skint. Just do the math on the wages here.
  14. Many people don't understand this, but... The reason a lot of guys end up drinking here is because it's not that great living here. When you are drinking everything suddenly feels Ok. It's hard to understand unless you have been here for years. So now you have the real reason as to the alcoholic problems you see and what's wrong with those guys at the bar in the morning. A lot of them would not be alcoholics if they stayed in their home country.
  15. you're a man's man, man. limpet.
  16. I almost rented a unit where you are in 5D, top floor, same side, when I was looking last year. It was my second choice 😆. I ended up in center instead because I wanted more choices of food and eateries and such around and I did not want to use a motorbike. When I look back on it I think I may have been happier being by the beach at 5D.
  17. How do you manage to find short term rentals there? Airbnb?
  18. You need to learn to accept advice a bit better. People are not complaining for no reason. There are many long timers here giving advice. Ignore it at your peril.
  19. Don't forget to deduct a month or two in rent each year off that %. Even if you are lucky to get an annual lease the units typically are vacant between tenants. Even if you get a tenant immediately they rarely move in immediately. Usually they are at another unit and want to move in at the end of the month, that's another month loss. You can also deduct another month every year for agent commissions. So you are up to 2-3 months now in missed payments even with consistent yearly leases and no other issues.
  20. Ok. Seems like if you have lived in places with security and without security you would have to prefer one situation over another, but I guess it's possible for someone to be completely neutral.
  21. Enough about me, what about you? Accepting it and liking it are different things. So you like going through security, don't care, accept it as normal but you don't/do like it? Just guessing here. Do please let me know.
  22. Not sure what you are talking about.
