It's interesting that you are using baby-talk in the thread title and question. "take care me" I wonder if there is something else going on here other then the physical assistance requested.
-
My guess is they were requested to pay after just sitting down and the vendor saw it as a service utilized at that point that needed to be paid for (i.e. a money grab). I can't see anyone just not walking off and insisting on staying seated. You can't just sit there a long time. Someone comes up and sells drinks or whatever immediately and if you don't buy anything they would ask for payment on the chair.

I wish it was that easy. Losing important things traveling in a foreign country is a big deal and "they" don't accept excuses.

Understood. Have a look at some of these bags. https://chromeindustries.com/products/citizen-messenger-bag

You're not very streetsmart if you have a zippered bag behind you anywhere. The only thing I do that with is my messenger bag and it's buckled shut and has an extremely strong velcro closure (ie It can't be opened without me knowing).

State of recently build condos in Pattaya, example The Base

Those you are thinking of don't come up for sale or rent that often. The turnover is very low. -
Your opinion of eradication of dogs
JimTripper replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The thing Buddhism gets wrong about the dogs is that just ignoring them is not compassion. Doing nothing could be considered abusive and is harming a suffering animal. Neutering them could help unborn dogs not suffer, but the existing dog is still suffering. -

Strange how they can't figure this out here, it's not rocket science. -

Where are the screen doors to your balcony? Keeps bugs out. -
Good point. Many people in their 70's/80's also have some mild dementia and memory issues. If you say Thailand they may think it's a good idea if you act excited about it, but not really understand the trade offs. If they got depressed in a foreign country later on there could be the possibility of needing to move them back again or hear ongoing gripes and complaints, or a feeling you manipulated them into a wrong spot for the rest of their years. Not being able to speak Thai could get real lonely and isolating in a facility where you don't get out much if English is not commonly spoken.

I have relatives paying 8k pound a month in the Usa. The problem is they are too old to make the move now anywhere else (not very mobile, need care, etc). So they don't have any other options. Add to this the situation where the rent keeps going up, sometimes 1k pound a month, or just whatever they want to charge, as it's a private facility with no regulations on cost. Only last option would be to have family in the Usa make room on their property, or they need to move into a cheaper facility in line with pension payments. If I had signed as a co-signer when they moved in I would have probably gone bankrupt since they come after co-signer assets with corporate lawyers if the bill is not paid. So, be careful what you sign and any contact info you give these places. Sometimes they put you down as emergency contact with your address and ask you to sign off on treatment plans and such which can be construed as being a responsible party as you are approving costs with the treatment plan.

That works nicely as long as the activity is far enough away so you can see the activity, but they can't see you. Any closer and it becomes a "rear window" scenario where you end up looking out and eyeballing someone. The ideal situation is a nice condo with a downtown, marina, or interesting landscape view where you see out, but people don't see in, or if they do see in it's so anonymous it does not matter if they see in (a shape or silouette without eye contact). Very beautiful at night. -
If the Op is having doubts about the Vt's, why not try for a Vt Residence? Those looked quite nice with large rooms, in fact I wanted to rent a unit in Vt Residence 1, just down the street from the Vt 2's, but it got sold before I could get in there. Felt much more livable and less units, but bigger and large balconies. It costs more generally, not sure about the Op's budget.

How many millions of baht does one need to retire in Pattaya?

I was interested in Spanish at one point and liked the vibe walking through there. Just felt less ghetto-ish somehow. Had lots of trees if I remember correctly. Having something around other then concrete makes a big difference. Has less of a typical Thai style feel and more of a European feel. -

Flybird is a big step down from Nirun. -
Well, I'm off and moving back to the Usa. Thanks for the chatter and good luck!

It's possible. I have a thai neighbor in a wheelchair. He lives in a house, single level, big strong guy so not much physical assistance required. Has a three wheel motorized "scooter" he drives around that has some power, almost like a dune buggy type thing. He just transfers to the manual chair when he's done driving and I assume he parks at places that are flat and fairly accessible when he goes into town. That's what most people do anyhow. Has a nice front yard area for easy transfers and such on a quiet street. He does live with relatives so I don't see what goes on the rest of the time. A lot of expats may be limited by a non stable living situation as much as the disability. Get a stable living situation and you won't need to climb over overpasses or do long street treks over curbs, assuming you are still fairly young, strong and determined. Elderly and infirm is a different animal.

Because I don't like hot water. Let me know if you like the tea when you make it there.
-
That's great. Next time I can bring my cup for the water machine and make tea. That's nice that there's free water.
-
Not cold, but real. All the fake kiss arse stuff is gone.

I think they were just having a go at the guys there. It's not a very romantic place, especially in the evening after 6-7pm when there are not a lot of people around. Last time I was there I had a coffee and was just sitting there alone and it felt pretty depressing, especially if you're on the way back to a room in Nirun or Pattaya Pad or similar.
-
I did start buying bottles from the 7-11 instead of using the machine as well. I don't trust the machines and would rather get a new bottle because I don't trust the upkeep on the machine filters. I do recycle the plastic bottles so I'm not real concerned with the bottle purchase. My health is more important. If it was free water from a faucet at the food court it would be a no. If it was another country like the Usa or something I would drink the free water.
-
I have never seen a free water machine in Thailand. At the food court you actually need to buy bottled water. The poster never responded about what he saw.

Sure, if they stay within budget. Do the math. -
They were implying people were filling for free because they could not afford to use a machine.
