  1. I saw a hairy guy at the pool today in a speedo. His back looked like a rug. I wish guys would learn to shave. Why do they always walk around near me when I'm there?
  2. Usually just because it's easy and relatively anonymous. You blend in with a bunch of tourists and most places have english menu's. If thai's cop an attitude or get weird at your local eatery, you can just go next door.
  3. You need to get some decent chairs out there.
  4. Why would a great lawyer be living in pattaya?
  5. I think it's safe to say not many expats in pattaya have 800k pounds, at least not the ones I know.
  6. Are you paranoid they may be staring in? Do you have something to hide? Just nod and say hi, what's wrong with you? 🤣
  7. Maybe tell them there is a will but not what's in it. I had a family member try to divy it up early and it setup a power struggle within the family before they passed, not so much afterwards. I always recommend doing the will, but not saying anything about it beforehand. Once people start squabbling it's hard to stop. One person wants more for caring for your affairs, etc. while the other expects an equal share when they do nothing. Each family is different though.
  8. Still valid though. The sun tends to reflect off the water so much during the day you usually need to close the curtains. Nice in the morning/evening. Same with the sky high up, very bright. Depends on a lot of things though, how close you are, etc. Another problem is dirty windows from the salty air that are hard to clean. Those windows you see on the property ad are always just cleaned! If you buy or rent a penthouse imagine it with dirty windows 🤣 and also your ability to reach around and clean them 🤷🏻‍♂️. There are of course positives also, like nobody staring in, ability to leave the curtains open all night, etc.
  9. Disease. 2x a week and you're going to catch something in pattaya. you're being too careful. that's roughly 1 million baht a year, or $2,500 usd a month every month until 85. not counting weird medical problems. no problems in general, at least not for awhile. could easily cut back if things got weird. the problem is, if you have 35 million do you really want to live in a 30k place forever? your expectations go up when you have that amount of savings. you feel like you deserve better things.
  10. On a side note, I have noticed many people concerned about passing actually make a big deal of things under the guise of making it easier for family with all kinds of wills, letters, etc. I had a relative do this. It was an ongoing issue. Odd thing was, when they passed the arrangements were actually not a big deal and it was not because they arranged things well. If anything, it made it more difficult. Family just pulled together and took care of it and on with life. Sometimes it's about people trying to hold on to things, or control something that's not controllable, and being afraid to let go, more then being a burden.
  11. Ok. I have not had any experience with anything that easy here.
  12. Not necessarily. I plan on hanging around until services are over.
  13. Neptune Society does it, but I think it's only if you are in the Usa. It's actually a beautiful program and you pay in advance. They take you out on a boat at sunrise I think. They take care of it even if you are single, but I don't think they have international reach. Not sure though, may want to check. https://www.neptunesociety.com/
  14. All those cannabis shops will be still stuck in the lease if sales dry up. Especially those who heard about the gold rush late and followed the crowd to get rich. Heard that one before.
  15. There are so many regulations and requirements to keep up with it feels to me like I'm not even retired. I doubt this visa will change anything. The hassles seem built into the system.
  16. Op should just rent. By the time the Op gets a place the Op would likely want to move anyway. I think what's going on here is the Op is coming to terms with how things are not that great and the Op is having difficulty finding a nice place unless the Op pays a lot more. In the Op (I mean Vip)?
  17. I think if you do nothing you still get scattered at a wat somewhere. Embassy would be informed, they contact your family, then it's up to them to come over and take it from there if they chose to do so.
  18. In most cases, it's guys that are oddballs and don't attract a lot of women where they come from.
  19. Interesting that it happened at Nirun of all places. Sounds from the description like it was a hallway cleaner who could see him sitting there through the grate security door everyone has there. You can kind of see into the units as you walk around. A lot of people leave the main door open for cross ventilation. That's the only way to get air flow. I have never seen a cleaner there, but I guess they do exist. Also, unsettling that he was only 57.
  20. I don't want the hospital thing with all the spinning machines and bright lights.
  21. I think it was referring to free water because they could not afford water, not a recycling issue.
  22. There's free water at the food court?
