  1. Due to a medical condition (fortunately now in remission) I have the below 'emergency' card issued in Thai by the UK National Association for Crohn's and Colitiis. I have used it in the past in various Thai establishments and most have been very helpful (after giggling for a bit first). Luckily, it doesn't see the light of day too often now. Most of the large UK retailers have signed up to the scheme and a flash of the card will get me use of toilet facilities including staff toilets. I was also issued with a key which unlocks disabled toilets at train stations etc. I get the general meaning of the Thai translation but would appreciate if anyone on here could provide me with the exact translation compared to the English version. I have the same card in a couple of other Nationalities aswell which have also been useful. No laughing please.....555

  3. Yes, very much so. Bread pudding is a pretty stodgy lump of cake. Bread and butter pudding is much lighter. Triangles of buttered bread (or broiche etc) baked in the oven in a light custard. Some add sultanas, raisins, choc chips etc.
  4. Same for me with Gin - don't touch the stuff anymore. Just stick to beer myself.
  5. Seems a bit peculiar that he was checking in and out daily when he had been staying there a month. Perhaps knew his time was up at some stage (assuming he was paying daily as the report suggests) based on and the room contained only beer cans and liquor bottles. or finally decided on which day his time was up? Whatever the final outcome is, still a very sad story.
  6. Many Thai men (not all, but certainly the feckless ones) have it away on their toes the minute they find out the girl is pregnant, let alone wait for the first sign of trouble.
  7. I find a foot on each pedal and both hands on the handlebars works for me....
  8. He also knocked back the Republic of Ireland manager role in March. Perhaps he knew there was something more appealing coming along?.....
  9. Can't see it personally but there are worse candidates. He has been manager of the under 21's for 3 years so he certainly knows all the good young ones coming through. You should have a couple of quid on that - might be a good shout.
  10. Never liked him but begrudgingly have to admit he was a good player. Perfect example of good player doesn't mean good manager. I'd be surprised if he was offered a job in the Championship, no chance of getting the England job (I hope).
  11. My bad, looks like 6 shared the golden boot. 1. Dani Olmo Spain 3 (0) 2 5 341 = Georges Mikautadze Georgia 3 (1) 1 4 346 = Cody Gakpo Netherlands 3 (0) 1 6 525 = Ivan Schranz Slovakia 3 (0) 0 4 334 = Jamal Musiala Germany 3 (0) 0 5 423 = Harry Kane England 3 (1) 0 7 605 Normal settling rules mean you should have had 1/6th off your stake applied to the odds you took. Assists etc. shouldn't come into it.
  12. Don't think I would want a sandwich made by that face. Think you might get extra 'special sauce' if you didn't keep an eye on him whilst he was making it....
  13. How did your bet work out? I would have thought that you would have been settled at half stake as a pay-out. That's the usual way with Bet365 as a tied outcome. Be interested to know the outcome.
  14. They will probably go for Potter or Howe. I think they will go for an English manager. If they do consider a foreign boss then anyone but Mourinho please 🙏
  15. And that's why he tried explaining it to an assistant manager who speaks English well, and not a waitress.
  16. Certainly worth a few points if you were playing scrabble.
  17. Totally agree. As soon as they (I'm talking bar girls, not all Thai women) have an inkling that you may not be fresh off the plane and naïve, they will move on to their next prey. Doesn't make them bad - they just know not to waste too much time on you. It's their job after all.
  18. 8 happy hour priced beers and a short time followed by a chicken kebab. Don't think I would get that past the Mrs. though - she doesn't like me eating chicken.
  19. Hadn't we established that susanlea was the new incarnation of sparktrader/bignok/uttaradit/dolf? I get a bit confused.......
  20. One more thing to add, whether it's of use or not. My mate has started flying with Eva from Schipol, Amsterdam to BKK. He flys premium economy/elite both ways. He has just booked a round trip AMS-BKK-AMS for £890. That's over £500 cheaper than the same flight from the UK. Obviously there are additional costs involved flying from UK to Amsterdam but it's still a big saving (especially for 2 people). Only real downsides are their schedule is 3 days a week and he spends a night in Amsterdam on the return leg (which some may view as a bonus but probably not applicable to you as you will be heading back to BKK)) due to the arrival time of the flight.
  21. Safe journey and enjoy your trip 👍
  22. About 20 years ago I had a gun pulled on me by a drunk Thai bar owner on Samui for beating him in a game of darts. Knew the guy pretty well but obviously didn't return to that bar. Think he wasn't happy that I was showboating and checked out on 90 with double top and bullseye 🎯 555
  23. Nice bet. Best of luck. It helps that Harry takes the penalties during normal time. 👍
  24. I'm not entirely sure what you are asking but if it is to upgrade from Economy to Elite or from Elite to Royal Laurel then it is certainly not cheap. I flew Eva London to Bangkok last month. Before departure I was invited to bid for an upgrade online. It was based on a 'swingometer'. To upgrade from Economy to Elite, a 500 Euro bid was poor, 750 Euro fair. To upgrade from Elite to Royal Laurel, 1,450 euros was poor/fair borderline. These figures were one way only. You can ask at the airport - either check-in or baggage drop. I have even seen people upgrade on the plane using credit card/swipe machine. I don't believe they offer any 'bargains' though. 200 Euros might tempt me but certainly not the amounts they were asking for. That aside, I much prefer to fly Eva over Thai Airways on the LHR-BKK-LHR route.
  25. After months and months of not viewing any of your posts I thought I'd take a peek and see if you had anything of value to add. Not surprisingly, the answer was a big, fat no.
