When possible I always keep an eye on the screen while they are scanning, as I know very well the price of the items I have put in my trolley or basket. Then when everything is done, I pack and pay my goods, then stay near the checkout while i go over the receipt. I shop at least 3-4 times a week, so I don't have overloaded trolleys, and can easily check if everything is correct

Interest withholding tax

Thanks, unfortunately not good for me, since I'm in Pattaya. If it was a branch in or near Pattaya, I would have just moved my account to there. Thanks anyway. -

Maybe you can tell us which branch did it for you, as they obviously know how to do it. -
Is Patel an Indian name? “One of the most common Indian surnames, Patel, was a status name from a Hindu and Parsi name for a village herdsman. It is one of the most common Indian surnames in Britain, with over 100,000 bearers recorded in the 2011 census,” it said.Dec 2, 2559 BE 'Patel', the most common Indian surname: Oxford - The Hindu

The actual load has been determined from the beginning of this thread. It will be around 96 Watt, more or less, and it is also not important to know the exact time up-to-the-minute. I still don't know what a water tank has to do with this, as I doubt I can hang the resistor in a water tank. I am by no means an electrical expert, and I also don't think I need to be to have a few CCTV cameras installed at my house, so I ask simple questions. Installation will be done by a Thai tradesman, and yes I could completely trust on what he says, but I'm long enough in Thailand to know the consequences of that. I appreciate your contributions, but maybe you could consider modifying your writing style to be a bit more polite and less insulting.

Do you mean I risk a fire when drawing 8A? There is no need to know how much total power can be drawn, as it is a UPS, so I need to know how long it will last when power goes off. The battery in question is a Hitachi sealed lead acid designed for UPS. I also think something is built-in the power supply to prevent the battery from over discharging, because I recall when the unit arrived, the battery measured more than 12V, but the power supply would not start up on battery. So if something like that is built-in, it will most likely last much less than 45 minutes, and I may have to install a Lifepo4 battery straight away.

I want to test how long the battery of my power supply lasts, so how do I create a constant 8A load? Since the connections are fused at 1.1 A, I will have to put at least 8 connections in parallel. Does that mean I put the positive to connector 1 and the negative to connector 8, or do I have to bridge them?

Bank account in euros
peterfranks replied to Aforek's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
The Thai bank takes about 500 baht, your European bank takes quite a bit more, something like 20 - 30 Euro, from memory, and then there is also the intermediary bank that takes their fee So you will approximate get 7950 Euro in your account, if lucky. At the current exchange rate 295097 baht. Wise takes 47.13 Euros in fees on 8000 Euro. So with an exchange rate of 37.4982 at the same time, you get 298218 baht in your account, that is more than 3000 baht difference -

Bank account in euros
peterfranks replied to Aforek's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
When you exchange from foreign currency account to Thai baht account, you get the telex transfer rate, but you can discuss a slightly better rate. I this week exchanged from USD account to Thai deposit account, and got +0.02 on the telex transfer rate. There are no fees. But note there are fees charged by you bank and the receiving bank to send Euros from your home country to the Euro account in Thailand The exchange rate Wise use is much better than the telex transfer rate. Right now Kasikorn will give you 37.11925 baht for 1 Euro. Wise gives you 37.4982 minus the transfer fee. -
Paperwork is clogging up government departments in Thailand

The phrase, don't throw stones when you live in a glass house, springs to mind here -
I don't need a hard copy of a debit card, as I will never use it, so why should I pay for it. Every other bank in Thailand has FREE online debit cards, only Kasikorn not anymore. So not only are they the only bank that doesn't pay a decent interest, they also want to charge fees for everything. You can't see the picture on the wall?

For years I have had a K-bank online shopping card, now called online debit card, and use it frequently to make payments online to Aliexpress and others. This month my card expired, so I went to the online banking to renew, as I have each time the card expired in the past, only to find a message that it currently can not be renewed. So I gave them a call and asked how I'm gonna renew. The answer was can not, we are in the process to integrate it in the system. And how long are you in that process? Since July 2021 Sir. So in 1 year they can't manage to fix the system? Of course the real story is that they have no intention to make it available, and they want you get a hard copy debit card, which of course involves a yearly fee. Kasikorn is becoming a joke quickly in my opinion. Only bank that doesn't have a special savings account, so unless you open a term deposit, interests are nearly 0. Now they also remove the online debit card, which every other bank has. Time to move on from Kasikorn I assume. Rant over

John doesn't sell anything, everything that is auctioned is brought in by private sellers. And guess why he has that China <deleted>. Because those UK pensioners who arrived here ages ago brought it with them, and now need to sell it to extend their stay in Thailand a few more months. Maybe you are one of them?

I joined this forum on July 3, and it has only been happening since. Never seen that popup before July 3. Java is disabled in my browser. It also doesn't happen when scrolling through the site. I'm usually on another webpage, with AN open on the same page for some time already in a different tab, when the browser becomes unresponsive and the pop up appears. Edit : Java console isn't even installed on my PC for quite some time already

Hmm, I also didn't say it wasn't loading fine, maybe try to read my posts. It happens a few times a week that my Firefox (latest version before you suggest that) freezes and that popup appears. And it is always the same webpage that get closed, when I click on the 'close the webpage now' button

Interest withholding tax
peterfranks replied to peterfranks's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Don't bet on that. I filed my first tax return in 2021 for the year 2020, and got the refund within a month. I filed my second return in March 2022, again in the same revenue office, and it was quickly handled. In May I still hadn't received a cheque, so I went back to the revenue office. They called Jomtien and gave me a printed document in Thai, which said in progress. End of June I received a text message from Jomtien, which said that due date for filing tax return was near. So I called them and said I had filed in March. Their answer was they had not received anything. -

Tax ID and pink card have nothing to do with each other. Tax ID's exist for decades already, and start with 99. I had my pink ID many years before I got a tax ID, and Krungsri could not use that for the WHT, so I had to apply for a tax ID specifically for Krungsri. All went well for 2 years with Krungsri, until last month
