  1. A Pharma company just wants to help everybody be healthy so their shareholders go broke and they can all be out of the job and close their doors. No vested interested whatsoever. As the late Charlie Munger always used to say, "show me the incentives and ill show you the outcome" RIP https://denvergazette.com/news/new-zealand-man-who-died-of-gunshot-wound-to-be-recorded-as-covid-19-death/article_f33fe779-8294-5e91-96c6-a5cb00923a5e.html A New Zealand man who died of a gunshot wound is reportedly being tallied as a coronavirus-related death until an investigation is completed. Robert Hart, the 40-year-old who died on Nov. 5 after allegedly being shot in Auckland, tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a report that cited police. "Health authorities may test a deceased person for COVID-19 if their cause of death is not clear and if there is some concern that COVID-19 may have been involved, for example, where there is a link to a known case, or considering symptoms prior to death," a Ministry of Health spokesperson told the New Zealand Herald. "A deceased person testing positive for COVID-19 may also assist public health officials in identifying close contacts and taking any further action if needed."
  2. Really, Can you post me the numbers from some countries that show deaths from covid and with covid deaths?
  3. In the midst of swirling news and complex updates about tax regulations in Thailand, we recognize the importance of clarity and simplicity. That’s why PKF Nuobello, a global accounting firm, has carefully distilled the latest tax updates raised in Paw 161/2566, Paw 162/2566, and Royal Decree 743 (RD 743) into straightforward, bite-sized points. 1. The 180-Day Rule: Tax Residency in Thailand: Stay Duration Matters: If you’re in Thailand for more than 180 days in a calendar year, you’re a tax resident. Less than 180 days? You’re not considered a tax resident for that year. 2. Offshore Income & Taxation: Understanding Paw 161/2566. Income Remitted to Thailand: As a tax resident, given the top marginal rate of income tax in Thailand is 35%, the implications are such that offshore income remitted to Thailand will likely be taxed at 35%. 3. Earnings vs. Savings Currently, there’s no distinction between these for tax purposes. 4. Recent Update on 20 November 2023 – good news !! On 20 November 2023, the Revenue Department issued the Department Instrument No. Paw 162/2566 to further clarify that the foreign-sourced income to be subject to tax will not include the foreign-sourced income deriving before 2024 by any individual tax resident. For other ways to manage your tax position, PKF Nuobello suggests mitigating the tax burden of Paw 161/2566 for foreign-sourced income derived after 1 January 2024 as follows: Gifts: Certain gifts are exempt from personal income tax under the Thailand Revenue Code. There are specific rules and amounts whereby gifts are not subject to personal income tax For example gifts received by ascendants and descendants, under religious, educational, or public benefit purposes or a moral obligation or gift made in a ceremony or on occasion in accordance with tradition or established customs. Long-Term Residents Visa Benefits: Section 5 of RD 743 offers tax exemptions on certain offshore incomes (encompassing employment, business, and property income from abroad) received in a previous year and subsequently brought into Thailand, without a time limit on income derivation. These exemptions apply to the following categories of LTRs: – Wealthy Pensioners; – Wealthy global citizens; and – Professionals working from Thailand. Invest in Thai Companies: Tax residents can make investments in cash-generating Thai companies that provide a steady flow of income in Thailand. The investment into the company will not be subject to tax but the annual earnings will be subject to Thai personal income tax when distributed to the Tax Resident. Depending upon a shareholder’s structure, other laws and regulations should be taken into account. Foreign Credit Card Payments: If the transaction is paid by a foreign credit card (from a non-Thai bank account), the settlement made outside should not be deemed a fund remittance into the country by Thai Tax Residents. Need to personalize your tax strategy? We know, tax talk can be as thrilling as watching paint dry. However managing your tax affairs is crucial, and who better to make it interesting than us? Remember, navigating tax laws doesn’t have to be a solo journey.
  4. What are healthy fats and a healthy diet? If you asked me what a health fat is I would say saturated fats and a health diet is one predominantly of grass fed meat. Real time tested nutrition. Your initial post didn't even quote your triglycerides. This is arguable the most important factor. Whats your Trig-HDL ratio? An important marker. How is your Hb1ac i.e metabolic health? CRP Inflammation? How's your Vitamin B12 and Vit D? Oh it's in the reference range, doesn't mean much the reference ranges are not reliable in many cases. Im not trying to confuse you but there are Many moving parts that need addressing in a whole body approach that will not be answered on these pages. Coronary calcium scan is a good idea. I had blood tests done within the last few months, there is 28 pages of results. You won't get in depth analysis like that from any doctor on the planet who is in the system on the "production line". It cost $A600 for an hour consult plus the cost of the tests and the same again to interpret the tests but If you're serious about your health and getting to the root cause of some issues Consult with a specialist, a proper specialist (choose wisely) not a production line physician, the best people are usually booked out long in advance (months) even at those prices. They read the studies so you don't have to, that's why you are paying them top dollar.
  5. "veggies, nuts, fruits, salads" are generally considered healthy, for many people they cause alot of issues. You can start by watching this. Cholesterol by itself is not a good marker. You need a whole package approach, most doctors probably dont even know that basic fact.
  6. I read this news story earlier but in much greater detail, why doesn't this website post the link to the full article? What does this mean? "The Phuket Tourist Police found that the Russian man was the same person who had recently been pronounced dead after a motorbike collided with a minivan in Karon."
  7. Talks of 90 day visa free for European tourists.
  8. No. There are so many other things to try before even considering statins. Diet and lifestyle being a priority. And no I don't mean eating more leafy greens, nuts/seeds, vegan food or other such food lacking nutrients Id also add it depends on your motivation to want to change/be healthy. There are experts to consult with, who actually read studies and have real life experience of working with clients on how to reach solutions. 95% of practitioners are just glorifed pill pushers.
  9. Ill send you a DM to arrange each time when I need to borrow it? I could be wrong but I think they are even more expensive here than in Australia despite being manufactured here?
  10. I shudder when I have to do a right turn here on the scooter on a busy road. Put your indicator on and hope that the two lanes of cars coming towards you and the two lanes behind you can see you through the rain while you sit patiently on the middle line waiting for a break in the traffic to cross. The only thing going through my mind at those times as bikes/cars/trucks/buses and franna's go past at god knows what speed within a metre from my bike in both directions is whether I am going to end up 50 metres up the road in 10 pieces or 100m from a driver who has been driving for 18 hours and the Yabba is wearing off. I try to avoid situations like this by driving to the next traffic lights or pulling in before the right turn to the left until the road is clear. Ive never seen roads as dangerous as the roads in Phuket and that's not just because of the amount of tourists who have never ridden before its also many of the locals who seem to have zero ability to the consequences of how they drive In the case of this accident there was very little or nothing that could have been done by these unfortunate people. Wrong place at the wrong time. Tragic
  11. Ill bookmark this article and show the next girl who suggests we should get married
  12. Just came back from almost 3 weeks in Bail. Have been a few times but this was the first time in a many years. 1. Traffic is horrendous. Not sure how compares regards to road safety, I think speeds are lower in Bali - safety is better 2. There are various areas on the island depending on your desires, huge variety in pricing for everything 3. Locals are friendly, more friendly than Thailand in my experience, They speak better English. 4. Getting Pestering as you walk the street (motorbike taxis stopping) on the beach-buy this n that, worse than Phuket. 5. Alot of development going on with an ever growing shortage of land, people are getting pushed out further and further from the current hot spots to afford buying/building property. 6. Transport is cheaper than Thailand (taxis, mototaxis) 7. The range of options for bars/restaurants and hotels in Bali is much much better than Phuket 8. Alot of woke vegan eat pray love types. Alot of fashion type people. Alot of beautiful women. Could perhaps compare Patong to Kuta. Not sure Thailand has a place that you could compare Canggu to, young, hip types mostly foreigners that are very into aesthetics. Insta/influencer (wannabe) types. 9. Big scene for top end partying, Beach clubs, top DJs than Phuket or Pattaya offers 10. Surfing mecca in various areas of the island and islands within proximity to Bali 11. Good place for an island wedding if that's what you want, much better value to fly from Aus to Bali and celebrate there in an amazing five star resort than to do it in Aus. I didn't attend the wedding but was in and around it and the setup they have for weddings there I have not seen anything the likes of in Thailand? Not sure what else you want to know.
  13. Watch the video. The speed that they were hit they could have been wearing five helmets and the outcome was always going to be the same. It's shocking that this is getting brushed under the carpet.
  14. Are there any business owners of these types of businesses? Do you have a partner? What are the things that need to be considered when thinking about a partnership with another foreigner in Thailand for a long term lease on a property?
  15. Local tax offices should be your first port of call. Doubtful it can be done online.
  16. I once bought a pair of underwear. They were too small. I bought a bigger size and they fit. I was shocked.
  17. Ive smoked cigarettes for 20 years, im still alive so they must be ok.
  18. What happened to the cars, penthouses and roids?
  19. I agree with the Buses, they are very old, badly maintained and must be equivalent to taking 1000s of newer cars off the road from an emissions perspective. I think this is low hanging fruit that should be addressed. It wasn't the pollution from the vehicles that sent me over the edge though it was when the burning season started and the sky had a constant thick layer of smog when looking out the condo window for months that I thought this isn't the place for me long term and moved.
  20. As of now there is no new rules. No proper disclosure has been made to make any informative decision regarding a tax change. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2023/11/04/tax-change-for-expats-living-in-thailand/ To answer the OP question yes a foreigner can get a TAX ID, I have one but have not done any tax returns.
  21. Whats the Thai immigrations obsession with being 50 years old to get a visa
  22. Most large scale ventures involved in the "Green transition" today are not viable with the current interest rates (which are still low historically) and are asking for more government handouts to survive
  23. I got prices of various bikes a month ago in Phuket town. Would be interested to hear what others paid or known prices. If there is much of a difference on location/haggling. To me it didn't seem like the prices were negotiable when I asked for the business card at one of the dealers they just said go to any Honda shop all the prices are the same as opposed to me wanting them to come back and buy it from their dealership. Am I correct in saying the prices trend down as the year progresses and then jumps back up in Jan for the new years plate? Honda ADV/PCX - 103,500 X-MAX 350 - 198k N-MAX 155 ABS both - 101k Aerox - 76.5k Aerox ABS front - 87.5k Click 160 - 67k
  24. Yes, the same as far as I know and this was the reason I used at the Tax office to obtain my Tax ID while still being on a tourist visa. With the help of a local because they had no English in there in Bangkok and/or didn't want to speak it.
  25. The new PM is the founder of Sansiri group if im not mistaken which is one of the countries most renowned and successful property developers. He has also been accused of tax evasion and as one of the richest men in the country is very concerned about inequality he said in a recent article relating to this change.
