  1. I contacted Paul Aslett who did not seem to want to deal with it since he told me that I would not need their service. I just sent him another email asking about paying the balance of the 10 thousand baht fee. I don't know if he will answer me or not. He seemed rather arrogant. Good advice on your part, though. Thanks so much.
  2. I got it from the American Embassy yesterday. It's not likely that it's old.
  3. Okay, I submitted my 130 USD payment to the US Embassy for a new passport. Here is part of the email reply I received: "This payment does NOT complete your passport renewal application. In order to renew your passport, you must mail/courier ALL of the following items to the Passport Renewal Location indication in this payment confirmation. Please review the full instructions for completing the DS-82 U.S. Passport Renewal Application on the Embassy/Consulate's website. 1. An original, signed copy of your completed DS-82 U.S Passport Renewal Application form 2. A new 2 inch X 2 inch passport photo on white background 3. Your current expiring passport 4. A printed copy of this confirmation email 5. (Optional) A self-addressed, pre-paid envelope if you wish to have your new passport returned to you by mail The last item is confusing. HOW ELSE would I receive my new passport? teleportation???
  4. There was no fee when I filed mine.
  5. You are CORRECT!!!! I am both OLD and "full of worry". The situation here makes that a fact of life. Constantly changing rules at Immigration should give you PLENTY to worry about. Given the attitude at Immigration and the even WORSE attitude at the American and British Embassies, you have no end of things to worry about. They exist to create new problems for you.
  6. I was a deejay. Not much video around in 1969. 😃
  7. I was DEFINITELY "wasted" for a good portion of it. At 73, I only have a few regrets. 😁
  8. I thought we boomers held the crown for laziness. 😁. Desk job since age 19.
  9. Recent posts have mentioned that Jomtien Immigration want both TM30 and TM47 forms re-flied. Has this situation changed?
  10. Previous posts have INSISTED that the Embassy has changed its rules and no longer does "in person" renewals. So WHICH IS IT????? Limited hours or NO in-person renewal appointments?
  11. Possibly because they don't handle renewals for passports unless it is a passport for a minor. Probably don't accept payment by bank draft as they used to do.
  12. Thank you VERY much. The price is right to avoid all the other insanity. I will give them a visit.
  13. This service appears to be strictly for UK subjects. Does anyone know of a similar service for US citizens? Will this agency perform the same service for Yanks??
  14. I wish they would do this. I am trying to help a Thai-American citizen renew her passport before I renew my own later in the year. It's confusing for her, even though she speaks perfect Thai. I never dreamed my own government would be making it difficult for me to renew my passport. I expect mindless bureaucracy on the Thai side, but this situation is intolerable and completely beyond the pale. What do Embassy officials DO all day? No stat declarations, no personal appointments for passport renewal...etc. They may as well admit that they are here to party and attend ceremonial dinners. Assisting citizens seems to be an afterthought. I'm lucky that I have a credit card or I couldn't manage to pay them, since cash seems unwelcome. The bank draft worked well the only time I used it, but they apparently don't accept THAT anymore, either.
  15. That doesn't address the issue of the "endless loop". If I am not allowed to apply by mail, I can't finish the application (or even START it).
  16. Is anyone else having difficulty with the Passport Renewal process at the US Embassy in Bangkok? They seem to be trying to route everyone into doing the renewal by mail. I have tried to do that but keep getting thrown into an endless computer loop that can only be terminated by backing out of the website entirely. I live in Jomtien, so it would be easier for me to do the renewal in person, but there is scant information on how to do that. My passport still has a year on its validity but the Embassy website process is so daunting that I question my ability to complete the process. I have never seen a more useless website in terms of the links provided that sometimes lead nowhere and even though I have a year to get this done, I am losing hope that I can get it done in person, which would be my choice. I suppose I could call them but a friend has already been told that the appointment has to be made online. When I keep getting thrown into the "loop from Hell", I question whether the site is working correctly. Any advice? I'm not interested in flames and insults. If you can't be civil, don't bother to comment. Again, what I want to do is make the application and pay in person, if that option is available.
  17. I've been on and off Tramadol for years. I have noticed absolutely no withdrawal problems. This is pure drug mythology.
  18. Of course, they don't like it. They like to pretend that Thailand is beyond criticism. The Chinese are even worse in that respect.
  19. Nicest people that money can buy. 😄
  20. Previously, there was a download tab on the Chonburi Immigration page which allowed downloads of the most used documents. I am having difficulty finding it. Can anyone point the way??
  21. I am afraid of pain and suffering. Death? Not so much.
  22. Very strange. Never heard of this rule.
  23. The term "stupid" is a bit strong. Most Americans, for example, do not have a passport and have never traveled outside the country. It's a daunting task, even if you know what you're doing. I started thinking along these lines when I turned 30. I kept seeing advertisements about retiring in Mexico very cheaply. As time moved on, I discovered Costa Rica and finally Thailand. After 18 trips here, I decided this would be where I would retire. I didn't realize that things were about to get much more complicated after the American Embassy quit issuing Statutory Declarations of Income. The constant changes keep many retirees from moving here. Cambodia will be my next stop if they make it impossible for me to continue living here. Immigration is working hard to do exactly that.
  24. That seems odd. The only time I did an online report, I received approval the same day. I hope this system hasn't fallen victim to the usual Thai bureaucracy problems. Ten days is entirely too long. This is why I continue to file in person. Of course, I only live about 500 meters from the Jomtien Immigration office.
