Street Vendors in Bangkok Encouraged to Sign Up for Tax Registration
freeworld replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
But this is what the person wrote "must register as businesses" “Self-employed" and “business owner" are terms often used interchangeably. But are they really the same things? The answer is no. When you're self-employed, you're not always a business owner. You may simply have created your own job. While it sounds confusing, each becomes clear when you understand what the terms mean. -
Street Vendors in Bangkok Encouraged to Sign Up for Tax Registration
freeworld replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Earning a few thousand baht from selling a few things from home hardly brings in a lot of income. If they were to register as a business as the tax people insist there would be all the costs associated with that and accounting, closing down etc.. Probably for most it is just not worth all the hassle. -
Manhunt Launched for Fugitive Brit Thought to be Hiding in Thailand
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If he is hiding in Thailand it will not be long before they catch him. Don't know why people abscond like that, eventually circumstances will catch up with them. Maybe he should have tried hiding in one of the following countries: The United Kingdom does not have extradition treaties with a number of countries, including Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, and Syria -
New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand had 11.9 million tax forms files for Jan 2023 to April 2024, it was an increase of 3.34% over the previous tax year. So based on revenue departments always increasing revenues and beating expectations, with the new change in wording in the revenue code, the 2024/2025 tax year is going to be an exceptionally bumper crop of rich pickings from tax residents. -

The onus is upon you for your tax affairs in the law if you have assessable income "Section 23 In a case where a person fails to file tax return, Amphur or an assessment official, as the case may be, shall have the power to issue summons to call such person to give evidence and issue summons to call for witness and order a non filer or witness to bring an account or evidence related to the matter but shall give at least 7 days in advance from the date of delivery of summons." -

Haha you think so. For the US. 100 Mile Border Zone The Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects people from random and arbitrary stops and searches. Although the federal government claims the power to conduct certain kinds of warrantless stops within 100 miles of the U.S. border, important Fourth Amendment protections still apply. This helps you understand your rights within the 100-mile border zone. Are immigration officials allowed to stop people in places wholly inside the U.S.? U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the federal agency tasked with patrolling the U.S. border and areas that function like a border, claims a territorial reach much larger than you might imagine. A federal law says that, without a warrant, CBP can board vehicles and vessels and search for people without immigration documentation “within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States.” These “external boundaries” include international land borders but also the entire U.S. coastline. In Thailand have never been approached or stopped by an immigration officer inside the borders. -

Making stuff up. There are already financial requirements to get a visa. Tax is dealt with by the tax department not by immigration department. -
New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No it will not. Companies and people will just be subject to tax in line with OECD, UN and CRS norms and local taxation rules. Thailand as a country will still survive and they can amend their tax laws further if something is not working. -
Guess it is posted to impress and gain some admiration.

Don't often hear about Belgians, this is unusual to see one in the foreign news. -
So you are possibly the guy I see wandering aimlessly about with a tray of food hoping for a place to sit, sometimes dashing quickly when a table is vacated by someone only for another someone to have the same idea and get there before you. And so it goes on until you find a seat. All whilst I sit waiting at a vacant table observing with amusement while my wife goes to buy my food.
-
And if someone is sitting at a table blocking it whilst the other goes off to buy the food, do you also take the blocking item to cashier. I would be calling the security to report the theft.

This in case the passport is lost. One would assume only then an original DL can be used and proof that the passport is really lost.? In case of lost passport or identification documents, non-Thai passengers must provide one of the following documents: • Original emergency passport or emergency travel certificate. • Original non-Thai ID Card issued by Department of Provincial Administration of Thailand. • Original driving license issued by Department of Land Transport of Thailand. TAT wishes all visitors a safe journey and a relaxing holiday in Thailand. -
Is there a law stating it cannot be done, are there signs up stating it cannot be done, are foreigners the policemen of the food court tables now? What about if there are many empty tables and one puts their stuff down and goes off to buy food and return to the table, does that also come under the purview of it cannot be "reserved"? I just do it but if they want that table they can stand there until I return and speak to me to ask me politely to remove my stuff but they must not touch my stuff. Its the same as a couple finding a table, one sits down while the other goes off to buy food, whats the difference? See all the time people put stuff on the table to reserve, full water bottles, shopping bags etc... does not bother me at all, I understand the reason why they do it.

Why would anyone want to flee windows since a nice new update is coming for windows 11 in the fall as reported in an article on Arstechnica. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/05/biggest-windows-11-update-in-2-years-nearly-finalized-enters-release-preview/ Biggest Windows 11 update in 2 years nearly finalized, enters Release Preview Whats not to like about the following useful feature: Extract: The biggest 24H2 feature specific to Copilot+ PCs is Recall, which continually takes snapshots of everything you do with your PC so that you can look up your own activities later. This comes with obvious privacy and security risks, though Microsoft says that all of Recall’s data is encrypted on disk and processed entirely locally by the NPU rather than leveraging the cloud. Other Copilot+ features include Live Captions for captioning video files or video calls in real time and features for generating new images and enhancing existing images.

Worse are those who have finished eating, and linger on staring into their phones and many when they get up do not clear their tables just leaving the mess behind for others to clear after them.

Terminal21 food court is very busy and more so now that the Chinese are frequenting the place. Rarely go to Terminal21 food court anymore, it just too busy. My wife and I do sometimes reserve a table like that at the busy times by putting my book and hat down to go and buy our food. Had one time someone touched and moved my stuff and was quite annoyed about it. I sat down at the vacant chair and eventually the pair got up and moved to another table.
