Investigation Ordered after Passengers Trapped in BTS Lift for an Hour
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
They need a qualified lift technician to work on it. Don't have these kinds of people sitting around all day waiting for something to happen in every location. What they should do is stop all the young healthy people from using the elevators. -
Investigation Ordered after Passengers Trapped in BTS Lift for an Hour
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Notice that many of the young healthy looking people get dropped at the BTS and then head for the elevator to wait in a queue to go up or down. Cant walk a few steps and take the stairs or walk over to the escalator. Very rarely see the aged or infirm using the elevators. -
Kiwi Arrested for Illegal Use of Fireworks on Thai Beach
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I do not think so. In years past before the internet there were far fewer foreigners visiting Thailand. Now visitors have literally tripled and all sorts are arriving and amongst them are troublemakers. -

Its certainly not only a boomer thing, its also something that following generations have picked up from and are using to generate their business. All banks and other financial institutions have investment advisors for the products they offer. -
From what I read Violating drunk driving laws can result in fines and other penalties. As per Thailand’s law, operating a motor vehicle is prohibited for individuals with a blood-alcohol content exceeding 0.05% or 50 mg/100 ml. For drivers under 20 years old or holding a temporary driver’s license, the threshold is set at 0.020% or 20 mg/100 ml.

British Tourist Warned Over Criticism of Thailand Online
freeworld replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand is what she is. All the foreign visitors coming here and criticising Thailand. Wonder what they are even doing here if it is not to their liking. Mr Thomas is reported to have violated Thai law and now has apologised on youtube, he is allegedly only sorry because he has been caught. Yesterday in centre Bangkok observed some foreigner muscleman with his tight shorts, no shirt, trainers and sweating profusely strutting into a lotus's. This kind of attire is suitable for the beach but not the city centre. Of course we mind our own business but it does not present a good impression to the locals. -

Return of Rental Deposit.
freeworld replied to Jumbo1968's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Anything in writing? Lease, monthly rental to be paid by, notice of termination or early termination by either party, return of deposit etc. The civil and commercial code refers to monthy payments and and missed monthly payments. Don't know if deposits can be used in lieu of month rental payment unless there is a joint agreement. If he keeps your deposit ask him if hes going to pay tax on that. -

Obtaining an International Driving Permit
freeworld replied to GuyDow's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Practically an IDP should be issued. IDP used to be for one year, now it is 3 years. If one has remaining validity on a 5 year driving licenese to cover the IDP time issue then there should be no impediment to issuing an IDP. -

freeworld replied to Chillypom's topic in IT and Computers
It is only for network, can use it in a phone or sim router, no mobile tel calls but you need to check if there is nt/tot mobile network in your area and areas you will visit. Other 12 month sim card prices have increased dramatically from 1 year ago. -

Thai Bank asking reason for remittance
freeworld replied to jayboy's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Probably part of the banks anti money laundering controls and verification. Randomly pick a large transfer for questioning. It has been reported in the past years that some people were being singled out and the bank contacted them about an incoming transfer. There are also some new EU laws on controlling money and cash payments to combat money laundering eu link -

Imagine that. Places where it used to rain or not, when there were no humans, there were no problems. Enter the human factor and suddenly there is complaining about it raining or not or that the humans are inconvenienced by the lack of water. -

Stumbled across this movie last night named "Dusk for a Hitman" https://www.imdb.com/video/vi1303168537/?playlistId=tt10819348&ref_=tt_ov_vi A film about a hitman from the Montreal underworld. The soundtrack is in Canadian French but there are English subtitles. Found it quite a good crime drama.
