Health Insurance for the over 70’s
It isn't a rip off at all, the cost of healthcare taken into account is Switzerland. So here I just walk into Bumrungrad, totally relaxed. We get what we pay for

But they don't need too. But they will call up every single transaction of the people they audit. Don't forget that how the system works: you declare, they audit randomly, if they catch you evading IT they will hurt you a lot. You can call this dissuasion, but that's what most countries do.

New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
They might well continue to do so, by staying in Thailand 179 days, or getting an LTR visa. BTW, I haven't paid one cent of income tax since 1991, but this didn't give me a free lunch as I have paid millions in VAT and local taxes.

Big Thailand visa changes from June 1
I am tempted to agree, when I read that the LTR Visa is stupid because 80 000 USD is an unachievable income. The answer to many of your concerns is get your Holidays elsewhere. Now on the positive side I am please to read that the Government can see that the Non-O structure is totally outdated, kafkaian.

Health Insurance for the over 70’s
You guys just don't get it. I am over 70. Our Health Plan covers thousands of people, employees, dependents and retirees . The premium per head is about Sfr 600 (THB 24000) a month and about half of that for Children. Depending on grade the Organisation pays between 45%(Directors) and 65% (Young professionals) of the individual share, as a retiree I pay 35%. So I pay the same as a young P2 joining today. Feel free to ask any other question, as you seem to need education to understand proper health cover. Maybe this could help: In a proper corporate health cover the the risk is mutualised between all participants.

I was talking about about keeping the cover from your employer once you retire. I think this is available to most US civil servants, many large corporation and the UN. I belong to the last group. The way is works is quite simple: the underwriter assesses the whole group of employees and retirees instead of assessing individuals. The premium (millions) is paid by the organisation and fully or partly recovered from the employees and retirees. This is not uncommon at all. Then of course the question is wether this cover works in Thailand. In my case, being from a UN organisation, obviously the cover had to be international. And very honestly, if that hadn't been the case I wouldn't have retired here. As you get older having to face massive medical expenses isn't a possibility anymore, it becomes a damn certainty.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to HD Prime ?
I is nice to have both, I have. But if I factor in the cost of a NAS I am not sure wether a move watched on Netflix costs more that than a movie watched on Plex. But my family is quite happy with the combination. Now, since you are such a genius tell me how a torrent would give me live cricket, skiing or cycling?

But you can greatly improve the Netflix experience with a VPN. Enables me to unlock some interesting country specific content. What amazes me though is their ability to cope with por network performance

Legal Strategies to Reduce Thai Tax
Wouldn't that be great? If Nookie ended up paying IT on 2 Million and Hubbie on another 2 Million that would be still a lot less than Hubbie paying IT on 4 Million. I've had that in the back of my mind for a while now.
