So why would overseas banks request Thai TINs from their Thai resident customers? They are bound by CRS to disclose any information on request by the authorities of the country of residence. I have been requested to provide a TIN by UBS, and some members here have been requested to do so by their UK bank.

Why don't they use a floating solar farm that the sub could tow while diving? -
Thailand Unveils 10-Year Visa to Attract Top Global Talent
Ben Zioner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
LTR/WP is a retirement visa. I have it and I am married. What else do you need? The only improvement I could imagine would be to give married guys the same prerogatives as married gals, with regards to permanent residence of citizenship. (Thailand will be laughing stock, when they introduce same sex marriages, in mixed couples the foreigner will always apply as wife. My guess would be that they will address this issue with legalised bottom counts, if a foreigner tops too mut he'll get depolted.) -
Thai Airways Offloads Boeing and Airbus Jets in Slimdown Effort
Ben Zioner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Totally agree, Boeing have come with an amazing amount of innovation innovation with this aircraft: full composite frame, non bleed air power units, and manufacturing outsourcing. None of which exists at Airbus. However this effort seems to have exhausted the company, as they have been unable yo come up with a true successor of the 737, and kept upgrading a 60 years old design, resulting in the MAX fiasco. -

Thailand Unveils 10-Year Visa to Attract Top Global Talent

You got it all wrong, Thailand taxes only the portion of one's worldwide income that is remitted to Thailand. Which opens the door for nice tax avoidance schemes. Imagine how nice this can be for someone who transfers only a tenth, or less, of his income to the only country where he is tax resident. You see, TIT, so we have these new rules that look like we are collecting money for the underprivileged Thais, while we give a rock solid tax alibi to the super rich who spend most of their time in London, Davos, Cannes, Bavarian Alps, etc.. -

Yes it is an LTR/HSP, and they will probably reuse that framework, backed by jobs in the EEC. Makes sense. -

Tuk-Tuk Driver's Rip-Off Lands Him a Fine and License Suspension

Is it me, or are we observing recently, on Aseannow, a shift from Farang offenders to Thai crooks and rapists. Interestingly none of the latter gets the beating some of those poor Swiss, Kiwi, etc. got This guy should be banned from any activity involving services to foreigners, and that under a suspended 5 years prison sentence. -

Ok, TA sold some scrap metal. Maybe it's me but I have the impression that this article doesn't say anything more than "Thai Airways sold some mothballed aircraft". I have have to guess that it is some "strategic realignment" of their fleet, and that some Thai hisos will get richer from the commissions on the purchase of replacements. -

This isn't a government is it? It is an unelected mob trying to secure popular vote for the next election. The Adolf/Benito doctrine reenacted 90 years later. -

Thailand probes wealthy foreigners for money laundering scheme
Ben Zioner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This investigation is carried out by CIB and is of a criminal nature. It has nothing to do with tax collection. They will simply confiscate the funds and deport the culprits, unless of course the right people get a sizeable cut. This will not change anything for law abiding Elite holders. And I can confirm that they don't benefit from any tax exemption. Even though I suspect that most of them won't care as they will simply limit the number of days they'll spend in the country. Wether the RD 743 will be rescinded or not is a totally different matter. Since I don't want to deprive you from your schadenfreude I'll say that it could happen, or they may just close the LTR program and let existing visas run out. The latter seems more likely to me especially in light of a recent warning from BOI regarding the maintenance of credentials. -

You miss one essential difference between the two programs: to get Elite you dump a few millions of your cash and off you go with your 10 or 20 years visa. To get LTR you have to show who you are and where your money comes from. That's probably some of those who would like to apply are whingeing.
