It is 7.30 am in Thailand and I note the time this thread started and when the majority of posts in response. Am I really supposed to take seriously anything posted as if from a person in Thailand at 2 am ?

Many years back my Thai wife and I accepted such a fare. It was early in the day and we had no urgent need to be anywhere. We were taken to a semi precious stone jewelry outlet. All very nice but too expensive to attract even my Thai spouse for items that were not GOLD ! We completed the circuit of the shop and left. Tuktuk driver honored the deal and we returned to hotel for 20 Baht. What scam? Can only be a scam if the driver does not announce conditions of transport. If so then walk away and seek a different driver ! People need to differentiate "scam" from "negotiated " . More than once I have videoed conversations with taxi drivers in total duration of journey and in two cases where gross dispute was attempted I made it clear I had evidence to provide.

In my experience of meeting people that express the belief that the earth is flat are more often than not evangelical christian or prone to the less conventional religious dogma. Given that over 70% of items sold on Amazon are from China will Amazon be granted tariff exemptions? Will US agricultural producers be compensated even more for the massive reduction of exports to China now that Latin America producers are the new trade favored? As an ex smoker I find that it is usually the cheap tobacco products that many now resort to have an obnoxious smell. Otherwise the whiff of quality tobacco smoke on the breeze or such rising from a balcony below remindingly pleasant. That is quite different to the gross intense body odor filling the Immigration office I went to today ! In reality tobacco smoke would have been as welcome as parfum in the instance.

Would seem like a sensible move which eliminates the need for citizens to return to provincial origin to qualify for the 30baht scheme as it is currently . This was proposed quite some time back and I was under the impression it had already been permanently implemented. I think I recall it did happen during the covid drama to avoid shipping sick people around the country. It will be interesting to know if funding the real cost over and above 30baht drains provincial health services to move it to high population urban density Hospitals such as Bangkok where out of area people go to find employment.

It is unfortunate that the excuse to evoke Bhuddhism is too often produced as an excuse to ignore an issue that has an impact on society wider than the extreme of gross attacks.
