  1. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is another one I have been looking at. But like Fenugreek and several others, there is still somewhat limited evidence so far. Omega-3 fatty acids (and making sure you aren't vitamin D deficient) seem to have the best evidence from what I can tell? What do you think?
  2. You should absolutely be in the business of educating yourself about your own health. Anyway, no interest in having an internet slap fight about it. Do as you wish.
  3. Do you feel that your link addresses the question of antibiotic resistance?
  4. Not really relevant. Basic reading comprehension is all that's required for reading pubmed and NCBI. Give it a try.
  5. Taking single dose antibiotics (doxy) on a consistent but intermittent basis seems like a bad idea, to me. Aside from potential side effects, antibiotic resistance from overuse is real.
  6. Oh, is that right? Just to double check, we are talking about the MM2H program, right? I wasn't aware of the updates. PI, however, is definitely still easy mode.
  7. Good to see you keeping up with it. That's the main thing I was curious about, if it was an ongoing thing or a single reading. I don't have any special medical expertise, like @Sheryl does. But since mine has been in the danger zone, I have also been keeping up with it, as well as researching it pretty thoroughly. Always advisable to see a doctor. In my case, I went and got a test to see if there was protein and/or albumin in my urine (was cheap, iirc). I have a fair bit of muscle mass so I am also going to get an alternate test done, soon, called Cystatin-C, that I gather is more reliable for larger individuals. It's a bit more expensive at the local lab (1200) but might be cheaper at the government hospital. My motto is...talk to a good doc but doesn't hurt to have as much info as you can, going in.
  8. If you don't mind me asking, do you have a history of low eGFR (or proteinuria/albuminuria)? I know mine jumps around all over the place. Mine has literally been as low as 27 and then 104 two months later.
  9. Or go to a more welcoming country in the region. For example, Malaysia has a pretty good retirement program. Philippines lets most countries stay there 3 years at a time with no visa.
  10. Most Filipinos go to work in other countries because they can make more money in those other countries and send that money back home to their families. It has nothing to do with your perceived difference in "quality of life" of each country. If they could make the same money in their country, I think most of them would stay in the Philippines.
  11. If I told everyone, it wouldn't be a hidden gem, anymore.
  12. Filipino culture is more Western than Asian, imo. Certainly more western than Thailand. That isn't to say one culture is better than the other. But there may be less of a culture gap between a westerner and a Filipina.
  13. They CAN travel visa free to Thailand, as can many nationalities. Like those other nationalities, they can stay for 30 days without a visa before needing an extension or leaving. I came here with a Filipina and the rules for her were the same as the rules for me.
  14. If so, their Swiss operatives are really doing a masterful job.
  15. I understand how stressful that can be. But you should be going to a dermatologist to determine the cause, imo. Forum will give you lots of random, well meaning answers, based on people's experiences...which may not have anything to do with what is actually causing her hair loss.
  16. Start up an exercise hobby with her (weight lifting, jogging, pickleball, tennis, whatever). Good for you, good for her. Takes away the 'blame' aspect and you can find something to enjoy together.
  17. I think I am more shocked at some of the callous replies in this thread, than I am the callous attempted murder that sparked the replies. Either way, condolences to the OP. And anyone defending or dismissing this sort of behavior should absolutely be ashamed of themselves.
  18. Easier to create a temporary problem and fix it, than fix real problems? Or maybe it's a test run for Bukhao, which may or may not be an actual problem.
  19. Which people are still more likely to do if there are no repercussions.
  20. If you mean online, specifically, that's a whole different thing. There are no serious social or physical repercussions, online. If people said the same things in real life, they would end up in fights, ostracized or losing friends, at least.
  21. $59k was not the all time high for BTC...
  22. I used to take Omeprazole every day because it worked so well. But I later experimented a bit and found that taking it every 2-3 days worked just as well for me. Literally just as well. Maybe a thought if the lifestyle changes aren't feasible (or until they are). My girl, on the other hand...vicious GERD. Super healthy diet. Banana, sweet potatoes, fish, chicken, mango, papaya, oatmeal, granola...exercises, doesn't drink, smoke or even eat rice. Avoids every known trigger we could find and still gets GERD. Had an Endoscopy done, no result. Tried every "-prazole" medication we could find, talked to a half dozen GI docs, at least. Nothing works completely. Gaviscon sometimes helps, sometimes not. I realized there was fiber in everything she was eating. Cut out some of the fiber, seemed to help. Helped maybe 50%. Not sure why she's still getting issues. Any thoughts, @Sheryl on what you would try next?
