The hostages are the only "bargaining chips" the Palestinians have. I expect they will not ALL be released until: - Israel agrees to a permanent ceasefire and withdrawal of troops; - Israel agrees to quit harassing. killing Palestinians and stealing their property in the West Bank; - Israel agrees to begin talks on a two-state solution.

Trump Bets the White House — and GOP Control of Congress — on Tariffs
WDSmart replied to Social Media's topic in World News
...and, I hope he loses BIG TIME! 😡 -
I only hope this is true, but for Trump to really have a "downfall," many US citizens will have to give up their support of him, and that will be hard for them to do. To do that would mean they would have to admit, at least to themselves, that they were wrong about him. That's going to be a real challenge for them. And then there are some who actually have the same values. They won't quit supporting him. But, I do hope he and his supporters do have a complete "downfall, " and that happens very, very soon.

Retirement Visa Requirements / Criteria
WDSmart replied to djeetyet's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I've lived in Thailand for over 20 years, and have a Non-Imm Visa Type O. I extend my one-year stay using Retirment qualifications. I've answered your questions below: 1. Yes, for initial stay extension. 2. Yes, every year. 3. No, you only have to have the THB 800 K in your account for 2 months before and 3 months after you apply for the one-year extension. Your account cannot dip below THB 400 K. 4. Yes, and you have to turn in that map every year, but they only visit you the first time unless you move. 5. I've never been asked to leave my passport at Immigration and would not want to, but if that's what they've told you to do, I'd go ahead and do it. First, take photos of your passport and all the important pages. -
I am "extreme left wing," but not a misogynist. I called this fencer she and her because that is how she would want to be referred to, and that is the gender this fencing tournament allowed her to compete in. I don't know their rules or whether they apply any physical, hormonal, or DNA tests, but whatever the case, they allowed her to compete as a woman. I used the quote marks in my comment above in deference to those on these forums who don't accept transsexuals and her participating as a woman in sports. I didn't use quotes in this comment since deference is not applicable to anyone who calls me names and insults me.

Arrest her, make her pay for all the damages, put her in jail for at least 30 days, and then deport her. -
Please throw them out and bar them

Yes, arrest them and deport them. -
I assume "taking a knee" is a valid sign of yielding a match in fencing, like tapping on your opponent in wrestling or staying down or your knee in boxing. If so, I don't think this woman should have been "disqualified" from the entire tournament, but only given a loss in this one match. As far as her transgender opponent is concerned, if "she" was qualified under the tournament rules, then that is all that matters, not the opinions of "her" opponents.

I don't favor him now; I never have and never will. And, yes, it does seem that in certain polls, the majority, or at least a large plurality, of US citizens polled support him. That, however, does not change my opinion. I'd rather be in the minority than support Trump and his government administration.

Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And, Thailand is not "Hit with 36% Tax." Tariffs are paid by the country imposing them, so actually, "US Citizens Are Hit with a 36% Tax" for items they import from Thailand. -

Flood of Crack Reports Follows Bangkok Earthquake

Yes, something like that, but not as nice. I agree they would be more susceptible to waiving in a slight tremor than my cement block home. -
Flood of Crack Reports Follows Bangkok Earthquake
WDSmart replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I live in the mountains near Phetabun, about 200 miles northeast of Bangkok. I was home when the earthquake was reported to have occurred, but I noticed nothing. Several of my Thai neighbors who live in bamboo huts said they felt a little rumbling, like a shudder. There's been no damage up here that I've heard of. -

I don't think the USA (not all of America) is definitely "doomed," but I do think my home country is absolutely confronting some very troubling times right now.
