An interesting side note for us (UK) youngsters 🙃 ...pension tax free lump sums (although that is not the correct term for them). Paid 'tax free' for uk tax residents, but arguably could be assessable income if thai tax resident and remitted of course. I think the brit expats in spain had this issue. Not sure how it was resolved. -

Pattaya on sunday: felt like i was living in the middle of a giant retirement village. Just a fleeting thought during a bit of self-reflection and thinking about one's future. Maybe a relocation to bangkok to be amongst younger people??

You underestimate the power of certainty (the visa) and the shift in focus onto maximising asset disposal at maximum price. £14k becomes negligible in the grand scheme.

At a "1 year later assessment" i think it probably paid for itself in about 6 weeks, compared with staying in the UK. As to how ...not for public consumption. Is it that hard to figure out?

I got the 600k elite and i only really needed it for 2.5 years until i reached 50. It paid for itself in a few months. Not going to be the same for everyone though.

In the UK, usually its only pension fund wrappers that offer an 'expression of wish' form. Never seen any other succession forms for non-pension.
