  1. Not really ...can't think of any politicians that compare to those two. Even labour voters recognised that ludicrous few years.
  2. No, its not an official anything. Its a generic term adopted by various countries and the definitions vary between countries!
  3. Its basically flat ...but the word recession sells news No reaction from the stockmarket which i think tells a story ie. largely expected, rather than a big surprise.
  4. Love thai food. Mon to fri. Western at the weekend. This week i combined khao soi soup and chicken fried rice. Put in the fridge overnight. Fantastic! 🙃
  5. And thank god, says the whole nation. Got no issues with starmer and the current labour gang. I don't hate, just because ...like so many do. Almost impossible job whoever runs the country. Try their best is all i expect!
  6. I don't think anyone here is thinking ...oh envious, wish it was me. Hope your general attitude improves anyway.
  7. Corbyn & abbott. Never forget the alternative.
  8. Corbyn & abbott would have saved the day 555
  9. Benefits in kind, the UK call it. An old employer gave me a company car for 6 weeks, because mine got nicked. Nice mercedes SL convertible. Cost me £500 in tax!!
  10. After covid finished, my sister and bro-in-law retired, both early 50's. I think a lot of people decided to make changes. I sold up and left UK.
  11. Can't seem to find him on the UK fca register for authorised individuals. It shows my full history back to 2004. Good to see who people have worked for in the past.
  12. Already there though. Full FIRE (if you are aware of the acronym) and happy to coast along at single digit growth forever. Therefore no need for the crypto risk.
  13. You are Big and can take a Nok
  14. I would like to hit you a lot 😃
  15. Too busy ranting to pay attention to any detail.
  16. No doubt you could do it all now! ...but the starting point for many (me!) is you don't know what you don't know. Legal folks for the buying/selling worries the noobs like me 55 Trades people language barrier is not great either. I feel i have skills elsewhere to simply provide the rent as opposed to learning hard lessons. Owning becomes a 'my problem' and renting is a 'somebody elses problem'. You can imagine which type i prefer. How things 'feel' will be different for me and you, of course. And feelings can change over time and probably will.
  17. The type where all you can do is sit in front of a computer on a forum.
  18. You don’t leave the computer ...so, have to be on grab??
  19. Is it fair to say you have zero experience of buying/selling without the support of a local? Which would probably be the case for most expats??
  20. Yes, possibly. But choose your poison. Your are describing a scenario for someone with limited financial means who won't give up a deposit.
  21. If you can't afford to sacrifice 2 months rent, then you need to consider buying because you have financial limitations. This is likely to be the low income and modest capital demographic.
  22. Assumed you were incapacitated. You are not??
  23. Not quite ...because it has to be assessable income. The example of bank savings interest above is of course assessable income if earned after 1/1/24 , but as mike points out the capital may not be - sale of a house pre 2024, for example.
