  1. You obviously don't like Lewie's stories. You've made that quite clear. Yet you continue to read them and complain about them, with multiple posts about them every single day! Question: If you don't like them, why do you read them? (Please don't tell us that you don't read them. That would be even worse.) Intelligent people stop doing things that they don't enjoy, if they have the choice.
  2. Lewie! You've done it again! And this time, again just in time for my breakfast read! You bring a nice bit of levity to this group, both with your posts and those who keep telling us (as if it's a surprise to anyone) that your stories are AI-created. Keep them coming, Lewie!
  3. An interesting AI take on semantics. I tend to agree with it, but in very regulated circumstances.
  4. We have already learned to 'trust' a device that starts out by telling us not to trust its answers. How many actually verify their results? We're so fu(ked.
  5. In your zeal to castigate Lewie, you replied to him in the wrong post. Slow down! Accuracy counts. LOL!
  6. Lewie, you never fail to bring home the bacon... or in this case, cheese! Another delightful read about one of Thailand's ubiquitous landmarks and its quintessential Ham and Cheese toastie! This one came in just as I was getting breakfast ready, so the timing was perfect; it's a delightful read over a steaming mug (actually a beer stein) full of Chinese Keemun tea from Fortnum & Mason. Keep them coming, Lewie! It's a pleasant way to start the day!
  7. Move on. Very little hope of getting any money back.
  8. 35 years this past June, between Japan and Thailand. I came for the culture and stayed for the people, food, and amazingly different lifestyles that will take me another 35 years to appreciate.
  9. At 78 yrs old, I tutor kids online for an hour after dinner. With the questions some of them ask, it forces me to keep my brain in high gear, dancing over the possibilities. Otherwise, I'm quite sure my brains would have already turned to mashed potatoes, and the only things I could talk about would be World Cup Soccer and Pattaya bar girls. That, and reading a book or two every week, some crossword and logic puzzles, and I can still make a 'complex' sentence.
  10. I understand why MAGAs are supporting a man whose morals and actions align perfectly with their own. I understand that being like him is something that excites them and makes them feel less insignificant in a world they can't understand. I also understand it's much easier to let someone else think for them and decide where they stand on important issues rather than trying to educate themselves and form their own opinions and thoughts. It really didn't take that much thinking to understand this.
  11. The Summer squashes are OK, too. Just not so much the winter ones. The Glycemic Index (that folks with Diabetes use for their food selection) shows Summer squash, such as Zucchini, to have almost half the amount of starches and sugars as the winter varieties, and can take on a variety of flavors depending on the dish. I even use Zucchini sometimes to make my pasta dishes! With a good pasta sauce, parmesan cheese, perhaps a side of Italian sausage, Zucchini 'zoodles' easily take the place of wheat noodles with comparably no starch or sugar, but keeping the great taste!
  12. Sorry, Lewie. Your stories are coming too close to reality for a pleasant read over breakfast (today's accompanied by a large mug of 'Madura' Assam tea.) Ditch the political and bring back the social.
  13. Keep in mind that what they are actually removing from your diet are starches and sugars. You CAN eat bread that isn't made with wheat flour, just as we do following the Keto lifestyle. I think you will find even more physical comfort if you get rid of the other starches, too, such as root vegetables. Load up on the green vegetables instead of potatoes and squash. If you need a replacement for potatoes, look towards mashed cauliflower. With salt and butter, or sour cream, it tastes so very close but without the starch!
  14. I've seen people complain about foreign behavior often on AN, but this takes the cake!
  15. I believe that the doctor was suggesting to stop eating wheat products in general, rather than 'noodles' at '7-Eleven. Many health benefits to avoiding them, including skin care. I was amazed at the difference that my body felt when I stopped eating noodles, breads, cakes, etc., made with wheat flour. It was an eye-opening change for me.
  16. Bondi said the list was on her desk. She was not asked about the Epstein files. She did NOT say 'the Epstein files are on my desk.' She said, when asked about the list, 'it's on my desk.' No amount of spin, dancing, or arm waving will change that. "Oh, I really meant something else." 555!
  17. Anything taken to extreme measures will be unhealthy. No surprise here. That said, what are the peer-reviewed published studies saying about nutrition these days? We grew up hearing butter was no good for us, and only margarine would keep us healthy. We were told that salt was dangerous for us, but then were given salt tablets every day in the Military. Any dramatic dietary changes made for a short time will only have short-lived results. Long-term change requires lifestyle change, not a fad diet just to lose weight. Unfortunately, too many people approach these dietary fads as quick weight-loss tools to be discarded after reaching their goal.
  18. I have no interest in knowing, nor is it any of my business. We've been comfortably and relatively happily married for 30 years. That's what's important to me.
  19. What kind of person ‘likes’ seeing other people uncomfortable or angry?
  20. Lewie, thanks for the memories! Coming to Thailand before I was married for a few years, I met several that you spoke of. Fun… but I wouldn’t want to stay with them. Today’s read was over lunch, and every bit as enjoyable… except for the tea. This restaurant doesn’t have great tea. Bummer. Looking forward to tomorrow’s tale!
  21. I’m always impressed by people who post: ”I attended a wonderful Charity function at ….” rather than saying ‘ I attended a wonderful function at…’ They have to tell us how charitable they are.
  22. I also moved to Thailand with my foreign wife. Delightful culture shock for both of us! Quite happy with the choice!
