  1. Thai news is reporting that they are emphisising on members of his wife's side of the family. The wife accessed his safety deposit box whists they were separated which was all over the news a month ago. When she was forced to open it for police after his death there was only Budda Amlets in it. Nothing that should have concerned here. Also the police say that there was money lent to Ekk by his inlaws. It is a widely known fact that Ekk wanted to return to his wife when he got released on bail but, once again the inlaws wanted nothing to do with it. Also, police now know that the M-16 they found at Ekk's house during the search wasn't his and they are now conducting extensive forensic fingerprint on it to help determine who the real owner is.

Furthermore, the wife was pulled in a 4th time today and was " grilled " by detectives for 4 hours before she was allowed to leave. Not stopping to talk to media awaiting outside the police station. Police also stated that the statements made by some 17 people related to the wife were contradicting therefore they would be re- interviewed for clarification.

It is this evidence that has the police adding more weight to it being a member of the wife's family as opposed to a grudge with somebody in the shooting community. As for amlets being a possible motive. The police have now ruled it out.

One point of interest the police have observed on the cctv footage of the hit. They noted the 2 gunmen as being very confident and proficient it the use of firearms and they were "particularly cool headed" . To the extent that they declared that a pro hitman would not have have been as cool. I guess maybe that info plus the fact that the murder weapon is somewhat exotic and customed [ was changed from 7.65mm to chamber a 9mm ] may have them thinking they belong to a gun club community.

As of today they have 2 people in custody whom the police say were seen in the cctv footgate pointing out the target to the hitmen. They also think that they have found the bike the hitmen used.

  2. Try some small Thai society or hobby / interest clubs. Bird watching, motorbike and car clubs, fishing, specific dog breed clubs, book clubs, [ amway if you are that way inclined ] etc etc .Thais involved in these sorts of activities are always interested in what the foreigner's opinion is on the subject. And will willing accept you into their group. Sport is another great area to meet Thais that aren't overly interested in learning English. Heading down to the local futsol or basketball court is a great place to practice your Thai and meet new Thai friends. If you are the shy type it may feel a little awkward at first but once they get to know you there is nothing better.

  3. กู and มึง are usually used amongst only the closest of piers. And generally only amongst those deemed to be in the lower classes of society. Rael bar girl talk indeed.

I'll be sure to tell the middle managers of banks and upscale hotels I hear using these words with their close friends that they are deemed to be in the lower classes of society. wink.png

Context is everything, so, to clarify, I have so far not heard anyone use this type of language with a wife or husband, and obviously the academics/office people I talk about would not use that kind of language in a front office work situation.

Close friends / piers same thing dude hey! They would fall into that catagory. Not the lower classes of society catagory. wink.png

  4. IMO any new bill shouldn't be applied to existing ownership. Not all mahouts are grubs and some people have been with their majestic beast for decades and look after their charges well. It would be devasting for such individuals.

On the other hand I am strongly opposed to any new private ownership of elephants. Anyone wanting to own one could simply do the correct zookeeping training, then be employed by goverment or NGO,s in that field.

  5. It " มัน " is used to address inanimate objects, animals and to talk about inferiors in a degrading manner.. It can and is also used when talking of young children in a non derogatory manner. If my g/f could me that it would be the end of the relationship.

กู and มึง are usually used amongst only the closest of piers. And generally only amongst those deemed to be in the lower classes of society. Rael bar girl talk indeed. Once again I would be p'd off if it was used as a form of address to myself. Nor do I use these two words for addressing others.

  6. Latest news has the death toll at 22. Mostly elderly people. They say the cause of the accident was "break failure at the point of a curve in the road". Causing the bus to veer off the road and down a 30m embankment.

Maybe if regular inspections of safety systems on public transport were enforced.... awwww, never mind.

I think the safety inspections themselves need to be safety inspected.
