  1. Oh !! Lord and master of the motor forum hear my cry, not all motors on the road have these safety feature I only answered the op question with my own opinion, no need to make insulting remarks.

    Think aimed at me. :D

There has been a great program on True about rich guys racing old performance rides at various tracks around Europe, great fun but safety, adequate brakes etc were a non event, fun with risk was the buzz. :)

  2. Both my 5 yr licences have my name and the first line of my address in English (and all the numbers, too). But the rest is in Thai. I'm talking about getting the whole thing printed in English by the Thai licence office.

Mine were issued in 2550 and are made of paper with a photo stuck on, while my wife has a newer licence than me which is more like a credit card with scanned photo, so maybe there's something there.

Yep, the CC one is the one l meant. :)

  3. Maybe they should clamp down on a lot of the illegal politicians. They also cost the country billions per year.

Prices of anything that are taxed should be relevant to the average local salary. (Obviously not including luxury items)

Hey our kid, How about taking a look at the houses and cars owned by top elected Government/police/local government officials. You will quickly find out that most of them could NEVER afford the said cars and homes on the salaries they receive.

Around my area this is a known fact, and Thai people dare not speak about it, but all are aware. This is what sickens Thai people hence the reason they dont care, and will get what they can, as the upper class do.

I would say get these Hi SOs and ask some questions. Would be funny to be there to listen to the replies.

    +1, :)

  4. ABS must be one of the finest advances in vehicle control and if you are a high milage driver it for sure at some time got you out of trouble.

We can be a superb safe driver but there are the odd times when a panic situation arises, with no time to think and two feet pound the brake pedal, l know l've done it.

Without ABS, lose it, skid and loose direction, especially in the wet, with ABS the system takes over what the brakes are doing to keep you straight and in control. ABS is a must for mr and mrs average driver.

My first car with ABS was a 1988/9 Volvo 760, 22 years ago. :)

Deerai, ABS is not a '' gizmo '', it is a lifesaver, and a must for those who will never understand or master driving skills or indeed their car.

Transam - I completely despair of your comprehension skills - and yet again you obviously haven'y either read or understood my post.

You have made quite a few completely incorrect comments on my posts lately (even when you had previously been given an explanation) - I can only assume that you are some kind of stalker who would swear black is white if it meant you could gainsay a post of mine totally regardless of its content.

if you want to argue with someone you need to put forward an argument - this on past performance you seem incapable of doing.

    Calm down dear, sorry Deerai,

Only my last sentence was aimed at you, which l think is in order, the rest of my post is real logic in reply the the thread topic so why get your knickers in a twist.

If replying to stuff that l have read is stalking then we are ALL stalkers to you eh.

  5. Some nice hate speeches there dudes!

What can be said about Christianity with looking back the last century or so?

    Not a much positive.

The Times of India, March 2, 2001

NEW DELHI: Leading Islamic clerics and leaders on Friday condemned the destruction of Afghanistan's ancient Buddha statues in central Bamiyan province by the ruling Taliban regime as "un-Islamic" and "an act of cultural genocide against humanity."

"It is an outrageous act. It should be treated as a crime against humanity. Bamiyan is part of the world's cultural heritage. The destruction of Buddha statues is an act of cultural genocide against humanity," Babri Masjid movement leader and former diplomat Syed Shahabuddin said. Declining to draw a parallel between the Taliban action and the destruction of the disputed structure at Ayodhya on December 6, 1992, Shahabuddin said, "here it was some groups whereas in Afghanistan, the government itself is committing the crime."

Someone always condemns their extremist branch but do nothing to stop it, they even allow the indiscriminate bombing and killing of their own Muslims.

  6. I seem to being pointed towards a inverter unit and about 12000btu does it make any difference if I say it will likely be lightly used? I am thinking maybe a 2 hours a day/night.

Within 5 mins it does the job in my bedroom. Most of the year we use it a couple of hours then let a ceiling fan take over. :)

  8. Have you noticed in airbag rides you are instructed to sit as far away from the steering wheel  as possible, this is a bit concerning as most females and small guys have the wheel virtually touching their torso. People have been killed by airbags.

And you dont think more have been killed without airbag :o

Yes for sure. Some people in this tread goes on about when your time is it's up, well airbags might just have delayed that, and I am not impressed when people say: I driven for 30+ years without them so why do I need them now. Well everything in this world tend to develop, car safety included so why bloody fight it.

When I bought a car here, 2 airbags was a must.

Agreed, but some of us, me, really am not bothered about airbags in my rides. And yes, if my time is up it's up. If kids in the car, they are in the back, no airbags. If your in a fast prang nothing will save you, seat belts do a good job if you are wearing one. Life for me is about looking at risks, ride a bike, big risks, everything the individuals decision. :)

  9. I don't believe you guys, all of you must be on the wrong side of 100 years if you can say it doesn't matter with airbags, also have you guys ever heard of side airbags??? Don't sound like it, either you guys are very old and don't like safety or you have been here so long you don't care at all about safety for you and your family, airbags do save life's and that's a fact otherwise i would not be here today, but you need your safety belt as well, so guys try to get out a little, maybe you also think that a big car is more safe than a small car??????

MEH, I have been driving for over 20 years, until I moved here in 2006 I have never owned an air bag equipped vehicle, how on earth did I survive all those years.....................

Just goes to show what sort of nanny PC world we are evolving into.

Nanny cotton wool world for some. ;)

How many bikes have air bags or catch bags, eeeer none. Stop riding, eeeer, no. Hmmmm

  10. They're a joy to be around.

They often remind me of Soldiers.

Making the best out of a bad situation.

I asked a friend of mine, who has been a bar girl for a very long time. How she and most if the other girls stay so upbeat.

She told me that a "Sad lady bar is a hungry lady bar"

    Got it. Bless 'em all.

Ain't that the truth, mstribling. I'm amazed how the bar girls stay upbeat considering some of their clients who treat them like a piece of meat. It's more evident in Pattaya than in Chiang Mai, though. Maybe it's the influx of Russians and some eastern Europe men who are not particularly gentlemanly when it comes to women.

There is an old story that has some truth to it... Treat a lady like a whore and a whore like a lady and you'll do okay. That stems from the old story that many ladies seem to enjoy the company of "bad boys". It was certainly true when I was growing up and was still noticeable when I became single again at 55.

Hmmmm, reminds me of my dad, a Tally Ho guy in the RAF during WW2, didn't talk much but he said he felt sorry for the English lassies and the way they were treated by the Eastern U pilots. Seems the same today, no respect for a female. :ermm:

Perhaps some of us don't care about stuff, me for one. I had street horse power of 700 hp on tap in my 30 year old ride. WHAT'S airbags. People take risks in all shapes and forms. People in their daily work have mega risks EVERY DAY, police, fire fighters, military, race car drivers, the list goes on but if you want to be wrapped up in cotton wool, well thats OK but for some of us we like the a risk element in our life. :)

  12. Swastika Bungalows, at Sanur Beach, in Bali, is my favourite place to stay along with many other folk including people from all over Europe .In the Hindu culture it,of course, means something totally different, the meaning of which I can't remember but the resort has been there for 20 years at least. They sell quite a nice polo shirt with the name on the crest.

    Run by the SS eh.

Weeeeeell, most disappeared somewhere eh.

  13. Thanks for that worth buying one with an inverter then. Interesting saying about insulating the ceiling, I have not yet found a loft entrance to any property in Thailand whats the secret?

Don't usually have a loft door as we are used too but they just cut a hole in the plaster board somewhere. BUT the plasterboard is a good insulator in itself.

  14. It's political correctness that ruined Golliwog biscuits (I use to love them) now they are known as dam_n Scalliwag's. They just done taste the same anymore.

    scalliwag.jpg

    Exactly :)

BUT, call them white mans fancy, NOOOOOO problem eh. :)

  15. I think your best bet would be to get some 30mm 1.5 kg plates and take em to a machine shop to get the holes bored out. you will lose a little weight, but those little weights are quite cheap so you can get extra ones.

You can get the little plates at most super sports.

Make sure it is a real machine shop though, not just a welding shop (those guys will bugger it up)

I got plenty of those 1.5 30mm plates. I did think about it but just like you said i was worried they would not be able to do it. Its not really the weights just need something less then 2,5kg because a 5 kg increment on my benchpress every week would certainly not be sustainable.

Even in Ubon there are loads of machine shops dotted around. good idea from Canuck. :)

  16. Jing I'm just wondering how you would react to a line of brushes called "Gayman" ?

Depends on the handle shape, l wager.:lol:

    The mind boggles !

    Depends on the shape.
