Twice-per-second Bleeping Bird: What's it good for?
ignis replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Are you sure it is a bird ? Maybe look up Frog sounds in Thailand, The very loud noise I heard in in garden often but could not find the Bird turned out to be a Frog, another time had something that sounded like a ships fog horn, also turned out to be a Frog -
Little problem with that...... depends on the size of the driver, a 50kg drivers seat will still look good at 160 k where as a 160kg driver the seat is badly worm at 80 k

Best Glucometer (blood sugar) in Thailand?
ignis replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Health and Medicine
Love the statement "you should not use the information obtained from this measurement for self-diagnosis or self-prescription." So what is the point of using ? I use Accu-Chek meter and have done for many years, I NEED to know each morning my reading so I can have the amount of Insulin I need... this morning 114 so normal amount of insulin, last week had 2 different days were I was low 56 and 69 = adjusted my Insulin to NON if 90 or below take less Insulin so 100% do use my meter for self-diagnosis or self-prescription Accu-Chek test strips I buy for the same place 'The Good Dr Pharmacy' around 800 baht for 100 strips with postage, takes around 5 days to arrive [clear customs + delivery] use the same place for around 5 years. Cheapest I could find in BKK was on Rama 4 cost 1.250 baht, as for local Pharmacies very few stock them + normally is 25 strips for about 450 baht !! Would love the CGM but the cost it very high - the sensor must be changed every 14 days - I did speak to a Rep at Abbotts the ongoing cost is around 1,000 baht per month Yes fed up with 30 odd years of finger pricks As for the Hb1ac test, yes is done every 3 months = show I am good for years now 6.1 - 6.3... but will not show the odd days I dropped far to low and need to have less insulin.... had I relied only on the Hb1ac test I would have gone into a Diabetic Coma long ago -
Where I live it is flat But the earth must be round Look at flights BKK to London Heathrow 12.47 must be going up hill ? Flight time London Heathrow to BKK 11,25 so quicker as going down hill ?

How many times a day do you pee and what it says about your health
ignis replied to Rimmer's topic in The Wellness Zone
for me depends on the time of year Summertime maybe go all night without a pee, it is now winter = 2 or 3 times a night + day time winter around every 2 hours, Summertime around 2 or 3 times a day Drink around the same everyday for years - 3 black coffees then plain water 3 + liters per day As a PS - Never use Air Con -
A big NO NO for many Diabetics as salt is very bad for Kidneys as many have CKD
-
Yes anything above 71 is high - anything below 55 is Low Most fruits are in the LOW bracket + full of Fiber and Vitamins and are fine in moderation for Type 1 and 2 Diabetics Cherries Strawberries and Cranberries are are way down GI 20 - 24 Grapes are a low-glycemic option they're packed with fiber. They have a GI of 53 and are an excellent source of vitamin B-6, Mangoes score 51–56 on the glycemic index (GI) chart Another prime example is Honey has a GI of 55, whereas White sugar is GI 91 Think maybe how old people are and how they were taught to manage their Diabetes
-
Many years ago was told Fruit is good sugars by a Diabetic Dr The natural sugars in fruit differ from the added sugar on/in food
-
Google is your friend Grapes, especially darkly colored fruits, have an abundance of antioxidant molecules that have the ability to regulate insulin and glucose metabolism and oxidative stress induced in this disease. Strawberries are almost in season
-
Yes done every 3 months - for passed 10 years between 6 - 6.3 so is good and well managed SO SAY But that does not help when you suddenly drop for ?no reason? you suddenly feel light headed and start to sweat and shake finger prick shows you have dropped to below 60 If you did not do anything there and then could well go into a Diabetic Coma !! Test 99 = take less Insulin, then suddenly wake up at 3 am light headed with sweat and shakes = finger prick 53 !! that was on 14th Nov - twice since then have suddenly dropped around 3 am to 60 or under. Likewise for no reason ? this morning was 160 Why ?

Have noticed that most packages or boxes of ordered items have the senders details on the front of the box, Scam deliveries do not have.... Used Lazada for years - always COD.... alway do the same Order, when confirmed put the money out ready. Both Monday and yesterday parcel arrived so say 299 baht, not ordered ,, talking to the delivery driver - they had 10 small boxes for different addresses in the Village - there are only 63 Hoses in the Village + one of the houses has be empty for over 2 years so no one would have ordered anything from that address
-
Diabetic 1.5 Lada. for 34 years next month go to a Dr Clinic or a Hospital.. DO Not Eat or drink anything before.. at least will give you some idea..... [cost may be 100 baht at Clinic or Government Hospital] 100% you need to buy a glucose Blood Sugar testing meter if it is Blood Sugar - 'Woke up dizzy and sweating at night.' = normally for me that is because I am low under 65 [you should be 90 - 120] on the other hand maybe could also be Blood Pressure - had the same symptoms often - 2 days ago blood sugar was fine but Blood pressure was 88/43 [should be around 120/.80 I have for years got a Blood Sugar Machine + Blood Pressure Machine = test every morning + in the day if feeling bad or odd,

Again these POP UPs have nothing to fo with any web Browser They arrive as soon as the PC/laptop starts or as the OS starts to load up As a side note did a search = 1,000's have the same problem, also 360 total Security appears to be rated one of the best there is..... so maybe will just not worry about it keep appearing
-
Web browsers YES I have them ad-blocker on my web browsers These pop ups are nothing to do with any Web browsers they pop up as soon as the PC/laptop starts [NO browsers running]
-
Used to get these McAfee protection adverts pop up every day all the time, now get 360 total Security Adverts pop up every morning advising need to upgrade to Pro? Uninstall + all leftovers , next day it back !! These pop ups are bottom right in a blue box when starting.. 1st one is fine start time 13 seconds then another "your Recycle Bin in H drive is corrupt" DO NOT have a H drive ? + your webcam is spying on you ..! .it is not plugged in and in the draw, use it very rare so only ever plug in it needed. So appear to be click to fix for x amount of $ I just click on No Thanks or the X, but a pain Is it something to do with AI nonsense ?

Many shops keep running out of 5 + 1 baht coins.. wonder why You go buy something for 62 baht, give the cashier 102 baht = calculator = they leave the 2 baht on the counter and give you 38 baht change They don't appear to notice that the 8 baht they just put on the counter + the 2 baht left on counter = 10 baht

Must be a very old car ?? Car and trucks for some years automatically lock the doors when you start off, unless the driver takes the lock off or the engine is switched off the doors are locked.. So another odd story ? -
For me it is about age + price Full upper mouth of dentures cost 3,500 baht vs 7 implants cost 200,000 baht this was a few weeks ago. Age 74 cannot see the point of spending all that... 2003/4 had 3 crowns and 2 bridges on posts, so lasted over 20 years cost back then 60,000 baht, these days appears the options are dentures or implants Problem as you get older your gums shrink and whatever you have may well not fit well after time..... Thai friend has just had to have his Implant re-down after 5 years - 5 visits + 180.000 baht bill so if when I get them my 3,500 baht dentures need replacing in a few years it will not be a big outlay........ at moment all 5 crowns have fallen out + my 3 own teeth have broken off, so far 2 weeks ago had 1 root removed, dentist say's better to have 1 x root removed every 3 weeks.
