  1. I, too, think the Indian is telling the truth despite the BIB having misgivings. Surely his eyes would lend veracity to the story. I am also intrigued by what caused the injury to his elbow.
  2. Well they're in no hurry so don't hold your breath.
  3. So breaking the law is not necessarily a police matter?
  4. Isn't it embedded in the Thai sense of humour? Dwarfs are sometimes hired to be laughed at.
  5. Finally someone has noticed Pattaya's invisible police! Hardly a week has gone by in the last 20+ years when I haven't had something negative to say here about Pattaya's corrupt, inept, lazy, uncaring, inefficient BIB.
  6. Does TAT know about this? Thailand seems determined to kill off what remains of tourism here. TDAC + the 'new' 300 baht levy at the airports have sent Vietnam numbers soaring, whilst this country remains mired in overcomplicating every facet of life here.
  7. This suggests Pattaya police are lazy about the paper work as well as the simple matter of enforcing the law on the streets. Heaven forfend!
  8. There was no mention of drink in the story; your comment is true but maybe irrelevant. The 2nd comment fails to mention that 90% of traffic is motorbikes.
  9. I have spent (too much) time in Hat Yai (I christened it Rat Yai at the time.) I confess to not being able to differentiate Chinese Malaysians from other Malaysians hence my theory that Thai Immigration numbers are boosted by the huge numbers making the weekend trip. I believe Sungai Golok and Sadao are in Thailand, thus your comment merely reinforces my comment; Thai Immigration numbers are hugely influenced by the Malaysian numbers arriving each week for sex/AKA leg-over.
  10. Hat Yai's population doubles every weekend as hordes of Malay men arrive to check out the beauties of Thailand. Now imagine what Thailand's 17.5 million arrivals would look like without them.
  11. It just shows how detailed the multiple CCTV cameras are, capable of tracking fugitives up & down various sois. It is a rare thing for me to praise Pattaya's (invisible) police; well done the BIB.
  12. 1 'Confidence declines as foreigners avoid Thailand' 2 'Alarm on strong baht' Two of the most read headlines in BP this morning.
  13. I am not shocked at all. This station is surplus to requirements. They can't even control the traffic going past the building.
  14. 'Pattaya lights up Bali Hai Pier to attract tourists' - unfortunate headline in BP this morning. I wonder if the 2 stories are linked?
  15. Even so, at some point with 10 seconds to impact, surely self-preservation must kick in?
  16. S/He must be doing very well judging by the contents of his/her handbag. Why does one need two iphones? Which client gave him/her a 50 euro note?
  17. He can't have accrued 450 short times in one visit, can he?
  18. Even when the barriers are fully down, I see bikers, with a death wish, maneuvering through them. How can you not hear the approaching train and so abandon your bike to escape on foot?
  19. 'Police confirmed she was taken for alcohol testing and will face legal charges.' Good to know.
  20. 'Thailand is expected to welcome 200,000 Chinese tourists during the Chinese eight-day Golden Week holiday, a 24% year-on-year decrease,' from today's BP.
  21. Another tale for the tourist to tell as Thailand seeks to overturn its poor reputation for being a dangerous place to visit.
  22. I admit it's a lucrative position. One such principal agreed to take my step-daughter onto her staff on condition that I did some unpaid teaching. I agreed, but our hopes were dashed the following week, when we learned a 300,000 brown envelope from a late candidate, trumped my 39 years teaching experience.
