  1. Helpful; thank you.
  2. At 11am?
  3. What does this mean? Is it a thoughtful reply to a request for help from an 82 year old?
  4. Thanks for that. Bank is conveniently opposite Soi Sex.
  5. As I rarely go into town, I am confused about parking restrictions depending on odd/even numbers. I want to park on 2nd Road next Tuesday morning to visit my bank. Is it OK to park on the left?
  6. I, (UK Thailand ex-pat) went touring US with my daughter (UK). For the ESTA(?) I put down The Bellagio, Las Vegas (on my bucket list.) No questions asked. I did get to see the fountains but from another (cheaper) nearby hotel.
  7. What a Gent you are! I use VLC all the time but would never have worked this out. Downloading as I write.
  8. Agreed. I fell victim to a couple of these lawyer firms, losing my house in the process. One was headed by a farang 'lawyer', who, I found out later, was disbarred in UK. The Thai firm altered the shareholder proportions to suit my ex-wife.
  9. Thank you. I may have to adjust my TV (or my eyes) to ignore the Hebrew.
  10. Have downloaded Tehran s03 from TPB but only found 1-5. When I try other sites I am asked to turn off my adblocker so swamped with ads to the point of not finding what I am looking for. Anyone help?
  11. A police force would enforce the eradication of bad driving habits. When seatbelts were first introduced in UK, it took a number of years of police enforcement before it was generally accepted. Ditto car phones. If RTP allow the needless daily deaths from speeding/red light running/drunk driving, they are culpable.
  12. Anybody been watching the 'Cormoran Strike' series? S6 is just dropping now. Writing as a male, JK Rowling makes more millions.
  13. Another statistic to add to Thailand's roads being named the 2nd most dangerous in the world ably assisted by the lack of a police force.
  14. Very true. My UK pension was terminated as I never received it costing me time & money to rectify it. The tax people have sent me a cheque last August for overpayment which never arrived. I, too, live in a distinguished moobaan in Pattaya and only ever receive local bills. Last year I went to a Post office locally and was charged 400+ baht to mail a letter to UK. It never arrived & when I returned with my proof of posting, the place had shut down! 3rd World.
  15. If, like me, you are seeking the above, Chat GPT provided this information. When applying for a Schengen Visa for your Thai partner to enter Spain, it's helpful to consider the approval rates of various Schengen countries for Thai applicants. In 2023, the overall approval rate for Thai nationals applying for Schengen visas was 93.16%. Spain had an approval rate of 95.08% for Thai applicants, issuing 12,167 visas out of 12,799 applications. This indicates that Spain is relatively accommodating to Thai nationals seeking visas. For comparison, here are the approval rates of other Schengen countries for Thai applicants in 2023: Country Approval Rate Austria 97.47% Switzerland 97.27% Czechia 96.14% Italy 96.08% Portugal 96.01% Spain 95.08% Germany 92.31% France 91.67% Netherlands 86.13% Belgium 86.13% Poland 85.78% Sweden 83.43% These statistics suggest that while Spain's approval rate is slightly lower than some other countries, it remains relatively high. Therefore, applying for a Schengen Visa to Spain for your Thai partner should be feasible, provided all application requirements are met. Please note that visa approval rates can vary annually and are influenced by various factors. It's essential to ensure that all application documents are complete and accurate to improve the chances of approval.
  16. I, too, thought about the move to Philippines. Like you, age was a deterrent. I think there is room for an enterprising Philippino firm to set up a bogus address and communicate with their thousands of British retirees by email to convince DWP that you have moved.
  17. I should make clear there is a difference between State Pension and Government Pension; the latter is not taxable thanks to an agreement between UK & T/land.
  18. Me too. I have a UK state pension (after 44 years of service), frozen for 20 years; about 15,500 per MONTH! Luckily I have a Government Pension (teachers/police/firemen) which is Index linked. This is exempt from Thai tax.
  19. This forum has been going downhill since Rooster's humorous column ceased. My solution, is me. Pay me to write a weekly column of satire about Thai life and its struggle with ex-pats. The 3rd (as yet unfinished) book of my Thai trilogy is entitled 'Noodles At Noon' and explains how useless the Thai Army is and how Laos could invade and completely overrun this land in one hour.
  20. As an ex-Head of English with 39 years teaching experience, I was invited in to a neighbourhood school. I spent an uncomfortable 10 minutes in the Head's study as neither of us had much of each other's language. At last the school's Head of English showed up confidently announcing himself as, 'Me number one teach Angrit in sacoon.'
  21. All six episodes of S6 'The Unforgotten.' On TPB though not in one folder. This is an excellent, well-scripted, well-acted offering from the BBC; it even survived the loss of the luminescent Nicola Walker. Check her out in the series 'The Split.'
  22. Night Agent 2 - 10 episodes out now.
